  1. follow all the old wires, that would prolly be the best way. Dont put speaker wires near power wires. BEFORE you do this, do.... If your going to run new wires, then simply take off the door panels, hook up the head unit and just run the wires to the speakers directly. Do this with the head unit on top of the dash and the speakers just laying on the floor. Do Not run the speaker wires until you determine that the stock wires are bad. - You do not have to use the wirring harness, just hook up power, ground...then here are the colors for the speaker wires coming directly off your aftermarket deck: White - driver Gray - passenger Purple - back pass. Green - back driver
  2. I went back out today to try and find it using the screw driver trick again. I cant figure it out. I am thinking its a loud injector. I noticed that if I hit the throttle hard the tick goes away (this is all while I am under the hood) when the rpms are increasing rapidily, but on the return to idle rpm the tick gets real loud. Then it quiets down at idle but is still present. I also noticed that both VC seem to be leaking, slightly. I degreased the engine and washed it down so maybe tom. I will be able to better diagonose the leaks.
  3. Yea standard din, easy as pie installation. Check out crutchfield.com to check mounting depth. I highly doubt you will have any problems with the depth, but check to make sure.
  4. Thanks, if changed brakes on a couple diff. cars. None of them had a setup like this, so I wanted to make sure i knew what i was doing before i started to go at it.
  5. Yea exhaust leaks do tick. I am afraid to put seafoam in because of the potential risk of leaks. I'll just wait a couple weeks so I have some $$ to repair the leaks (if I get them). I did notice my pass. side valve cover leaking already - SOB.
  6. My ticking noise is no where near as loud as that link. Maybe its just in the begining phase of sticking. It seems to be coming from the driver side bank, if I put a long screw driver on it to listen.
  7. yea yea, the upper pin is in fact a pin. How would you lubricate this pin?? Essentially what i am asking is, How do you take the caliper off ? does it just slide off of the pin?
  8. I am almost certain that i have a sticky caliper once and awhile. How do i get the top caliper bolt out? I have taken the bottom out no problem, but the top one has me stumped. Its not a hex or allen so wtf do you do?? I have asked this before with no replies.
  9. thats why i am wondering if i should run seafoam in the oil and risk the leaks. or just let it keep on ticking o yea, its got 116k on it
  10. So the car has done this ever since I got it. Never really worried about it, just thought I see what you guys think. While the engine is running and the hood is open you hear a loud ticking. You can also hear this with the window down, driving next to a wall. It increases with the rpms. I figured it was just the engine being itself. I am wondering if anyone else has this, and If I should run sea foam thru the top again. Last time I did seafoam was 3-4 months ago its a 96 2.2l 5spd
  11. I got a 96 Legacy outback 5spd, 2.2L for $4750 six months ago. It had 113K, leather, cold weather pckg, new windshield (lucked out - dealer had to replace it because there was a lot of pits in it), and it was in perfect condition. I bought this car to get out of the sport/import scene, so I could stop pouring money into cars and get back to school. I plan on this lasting me my next 8yrs in school with only basic maintance to worry about. Stay away from the 96-99 2.5L, they have headgasket problems. The 5spd AWD is pretty much bullet-proof. the 2.2L is arguably the strongest motor subaru has ever made.
  12. Your bumper looks good, very impressed with your work. I'm glad this headlight thing came up. My headlights (96 obw) are just starting to turn yellow, only on the top it seems. I will be taking care of this very soon so it doesn't get any worse.
  13. find a wall at night bring a flashlight and a screw driver......trial and error
  14. the alternator has been serviced for the recall, had a carfax to make sure.
  15. I've heard good thing about them goodyear assurance triple tread (all seasons). Being in Seattle I would uggest getting summer tires that are good in the rain, then getting some kickass winters.
  16. no offense, but I think it looks dumb with the light gray dash plastic. You need to get a black dash now
  17. Forgive me if I am wrong, but I thought the alternator runs all operations when the car is running. Essentially all the battery is used for is cranking the engine.
  18. BFG G-force KWA ..... or .... Pole postion sl3 (brigestone i think)
  19. I have never noticed this before a couple weeks ago. My headlights dim when I hit the brakes. I started to notice this after i had my alternator bolt problem, so I figured it wad the tension. I now have the correct tension on it with a new bolt (that isn't broken). My lights still dim when I hit the brakes, dash lights too. I checked the connections at the alternator and they seem to be fine, I also checked the batt. terminals and they are tight also. Could it be a loose or corroded ground somewhere? battery? dying alternator? incorrect tension??
  20. Madico is really good tint. Thats what I had. My tinter has been using madico for the past 5 years at least and never had any problems. Yes, it was hard to see at night. After a 2 hour ride home on the highway in the pouring rain i decided to take it off. I kept hitting the rumble strips on the shoulder, and finally decided that was enough. i do not recommed any to do this. I got pulled over one night for tint on the front 2 windows, the cop didn't notice the front windshield cause the stickers were cut out from the tint for exactly that purpose. If the cop did notice the front windshield I would have either been impounded or have to take the tint off right then and their.
  21. green, and if you have a car with orange (GM) then flush is super good and switch to green. Orange stuff sucks
  22. how big is that wagon mafia sticker? - website doesnt give details.
  23. what % is that? It does look real nice. I have been going back and forth on tinting my car, its white, so the tint would be kinda bold. If I did do it I would prolly do 35% on all 5 back windows. I still want to see. A few years ago I had a gtp with 20% on the back windshield, 35% on the 4 doors, then 35% on the front windshield (the entire windshield). That was a little too much, but I was young and foolish - the car looked great tho Couple of pics: http://media.unycgp.com/2002/2002-2-10/mod_day_02-10-2002_008.jpg http://media.unycgp.com/2002/2002-2-10/mod_day_02-10-2002_007.jpg http://media.unycgp.com/2002/2002-2-10/mod_day_02-10-2002_099.jpg .....I loved that Lic. plate, and the car - I will forever regret selling it
