  1. +1 nipper Some Dipstick broke into my jeep 2 or so years ago and I'm still finding glass in random places. best bet is to clean the crap out of the car, remove trim pieces if you have to, under the seat, Up under the front seats (yes, it can go that far, and clean under the little plastic trims pieces too!), front dash compartments etc. the guy broke my passenger front window and i found glass all the way into the back of the car! -Justin
  2. well, the Hard drive isnt much of a care for me. I have a bunch of "small" drives laying around. eventually i'd like to put a Solid State drive in it. I dont really use the Cd-rom. Eventually i'm going to want to put a USB DVD one in probably the glove box so that i dont have to reach under the seat LOL. I picked up my liliput screen for ~150 a year ago. They aren't cheap unfortunately! It came with just the screen and no mounts at all. on MP3Car.com they still sell for about 200 bucks for my exact model :-\. you can get a really nice one for like 700. I wish i had the $$ to get an all-in-wonder where the deck is a 2U MP3/CD/DVD/FM/AM and PC built in with all the niftyness like bluetooth, wifi, 200gb hdd, 2 or 3 gb ram and such.. of coarse they are like 1,500$$!! -Justin
  3. At the moment I'm at a stand still.. I dont have a deck to put in just yet to make it complete but, i managed to "temporarily" put the LCD in for now. -Justin
  4. I also got some shots of the alarm. Nothing special but still. Getting the remote starter installed: Almost done: Wait, there's an alarm in there? where'd it go? -Justin
  5. hmm.. that is an interesting idea. I'll have to look into that. the system that is in the car now does keep power to itself and peripherals even when its "off". do you have the wire schematic still for it? I'd really like to pick your brain. I'm not much for electrical engineering, but, I can learn . Thanks! -Justin
  6. So, I decided i wanted to do a little something something on my lego and I thought I'd share. The System: Dell SX260 (I kow, i know, its a dell, but its tiny! and fits perfect!) P4 2Ghz 1GB Ram 30GB HDD (I'm mostly pulling stuff from a USB drive anyway) 7" Liliput LCD/Touch 4PT USB Hub WiBee USB 802.11G Card Bluetooth The Install: I have a thing for back to the future: (Yes, i know the dates are wrong but i like the bg lol) Put a PWR switch to the Inverter, and one to the Auto ON/OFF for the computer (so i can have the inverter on but decide to keep the computer off) and a switch to the Extra lights up front. Tucking and hiding the wires: All nice and tucked.. Its all working right now.. I'm working on getting another deck that i can plug an AUX into. I like the stock one but i'm going to put the screen right where it is.. i'm thinking of putting a 1U deck right under it.. -Justin
  7. So I'm installing my Key-less/Remote starter into my '91 lego L. I thought at first I could "Jerry rig" a door actuator into the driver door like what i did with my '88 GL. i attempted to see if an actuator from my GL would even fit into the door - it didn't. I looked at the Pass door and compared. Its obviously a completely different setup but, how do you remove the actuator from any door for that matter? I was thinking of going to the j/y and seeing if i could take a rear driver actuator out and get that to work. Ideas? or any other methods of doing this? -Justin
  8. Bummer.. I did find this though on MP3car.com how it supposed work : 12V apllyed to to coil of the first relay (between 86 and 85) This activates connection between 87 and 30 so current can flow to the coil of the second relay with will load the capacitor. Moment capacitor if full, potential level between 86 and 85 will become 0 volts and coil 2th relay falls off. Puls generated. By take off the 12 volts : Coil 2th relay (pin 86) connects to ground. Capacitor discharges via coil Coil active (87 connected to 30) Capacitor discharged Coil falls off. Puls generated. I dont know though.. -Justin
  9. Ok, so i have a very interesting question. I have a 1991 Legacy L that I want to put a "carputer" into. Putting the computer into the car is not going to be a problem at all. I have a P4 2ghz/1GB Ram Mini-ATX compy and a 7" Liliput Touch screen, all the necessary wires, plugs and goo. My question is this. Is there a device/feature that is currently available on the legacy that operates or runs a few seconds after the car is off? Here's what I want to do, I'm operating with no monies at all, (otherwise i would just buy a device that already does this) I want to find a way to have the computer shutdown/hibernate shortly after the car is off, and possibly even when the car turns on. something that runs for like 2-3 seconds but not much longer than 4. What my plan is, is setting up a relay to "short" the power button on the computer and turn it off/on when the car turns on/off. Any ideas? -Justin
  10. I'll keep that in mind. So here's what i found odd... I had about 1/8th of a tank of that year old crap that was still in the tank when i first got the car. So, in an attempt to clean the system I put some premium gas in. According to the pump, it only took ~9 gallons to "fill" the car. I get in, turn the key and it says its full. from what I've researched, the tank should be around 15-16 gallons yes? could the gas be that lacquered up on the bottom? -Justin
  11. i put it on super tight. i aligned the key to where it should've been and tightened it down. not wobbling.. i'm going to end up getting a new one i'm sure from the JY. -Justin
  12. shoot, now after reading over it again i'm confused... even if its 1x light on pause, then 2x it would be starter code. or if it was 2x and 2x it would knock sensor... -Justin
  13. Just got back from putting new spark plugs and cables on her.. Runs like a champ! of coarse, she has bad gas though so she doesn't accelerate like she should. The spark plugs that were in there were VERY crappy. They would've been crappy even for a lawnmower LOL!, also while i was at it, i replaced the cables and she was good to go! One thing though.. I tried pulling the CE code and i'm a bit confused. I used the steps i found here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=98709 the pat that i'm confused on is what is the delay between the x10 and the x1? the reason why i ask is i have 2 long flashes and 2 short. (22 Knock sensor or circuit) or if it is 1 flash with a pause then 3 flashes.. then its cam angle sensor? this sounds a bit silly, but i was going to get video of it LOL -Justin
  14. I bought it home!.. well last week but i couldnt post it then :-P more pictures to be found: http://albums.mo-power.net/?get=albums&id=170 edit: oh, and i re-timed it.. thats about it.. no monies makes for a slow going.. -Justin
  15. By the way... on the note of timing. when i removed the crank pulley i noticed it was fubar'd. Or at least it looked that way to me.. i've never seen anything like it. Picture: the keyhole about half way through the pulley is eaten up. is this something that happens? -Justin
  16. So I finally got the car that I was stalking. Well, not finally.. I got it last Monday. Its a pretty neat car i think - EJ22, AWD, 240k New timing belt. When i first got it, it was sputtering like crazy and the P/o said that the timing was perfect but he couldn't get it to stop sputtering (at low rpm, if you push on the gas too fast it would sputter and try and stall out). Before it would do this but backfire into the intake. At the time it didn't sputter or backfire. I cleaned her up and took her for a spin around the block. Still hesitated for a bit, the transmission didn't seem to want to down shift while going up the hill. but didn't sputter! get around the block and turn to go back up the hill to the driveway, and it starts sputtering again. (push on the gas and wants to die). Now, I know timing is good since it didn't backfire, but i did notice an arcing/sparking sound coming from #4. so i think now, its sputtering because its grounding out possibly on #2 or #4.. or maybe even both. so my next idea was to get new cables and plugs and see where that takes me. But right now.. I'm happy! and the wife is happy I'm not stalking a car! here's some pictures to satisfy! its a bit dirty on the inside.. i'm wanting to get her to start and run before i'm going to worry about cleaning the inside just yet! -Justin
  17. +100 to skills, metal and skills lol, it would be an interesting project to undertake... I'd love to try it! -Justin
  18. i like that wagon. I had thought of doing that to my red GL. Looks like a slightly modern Brat. -Justin
