Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
moosens replied to Kostamojen's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Whoo hooo I swear I saw that left rear wheel lift on the exit of that last turn. Hey,I went up there yesterday with minimal brain power ..... no camera,no list, minimal time, but lots of heart. Charlie has a few trannies too for the ff-1 with the aluminum drums !!!! still intact. The trannies might not be in top shape from sitting, etc. but they offer internals if needed, and those drums. Andrew apparently has told Charlie that he wants that 2door ff-1 .That was news to me,and I don't know why he wants to bother with it to be honest. To me I saw it as parts car for you and had no idea Andrew was interested. I don't think it'll be a problem sharing the extras,or the 2door pieces. I'm guessing he wants the engine and tranny mostly. Haven't talked to him about it yet. Charlie also has the lower "wishbone" arms. Yours look good, but you might want a back up set. Saw some extra door panels too, worth cleaning up. I'll be going back up there in a few days or next week and the camera will come too. Also trying to get Charlie to get on the board ASAP. -

Thrilling!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey,I'm pretty sure I have those fabric wrapped hoses for you. Oh man, thanks for posting those "clean" shots. As soon as I can get this current parking vs. cars issue overwith and caught up on the windshield gasket and parts shipping I'm going to focus on getting to the boxes with ff-1 parts out of storage and begin to help make this resto happen. Unfortunately I couldn't make it up to Charlie's this weekend, but that ff-1 will be there, don't worry. And I'll get every solid piece there is for you. Did I mention the ff-1 dashboard? ........uncracked. Charlie freakin' rules ! -
I'm freakin warped...lack of sleep,etc.... I called Left a message. Need this car like  But could be the best for my sister inlaw.

Looks like I'll wait to hit the yards untill November. Sure do want to get there soon. Staying in York but I'll make the trek up to the Rt. 61 area - Pottsville,up to Hazelton,New Ringgold....whatever. We'll be getting into York on Wed. the 21st,probably later in the day, early evening. Relaxing on T'day..... Friday could be a good day,and Saturday too.... we'll see,but for sure I'll have a fair set of tools with me. If you think you can join up with me at some point in that area over that weekend send me a PM if you don't have my cell phone # already. If you guys are scouting beforehand for me it's all about the remaining morsels of 70's bits and 2.2 Legacy wagon stuff. I'm pretty sure I don't need any EA81-82 items. Hope to see you guys! Cheers

Here at Charlie's place: Check my album for more, but there's only a couple at the moment. I'll add more later as I have time. This one is packed with ff-1 parts. I'd put Charlie right along side of Thierry. They both are about the same age and had started with Subarus in the early years. Only difference I see is that Charlie was able to be more of a packrat. Either of these guys are capable of helping you out with actual experiences. Charlie keeps threatening to join the board here but to date I believe he only comes through occasionally as a viewer. Also, this car has the driver's side rear pillar vent cover, which I snagged for you. I think I have the passenger side NEW from the stock purchase. I know for sure I have one of those, just can't recall which side. From your pictures I can see several parts I should have for you. Protect that baby! Talk to you soon, Paul -
Who'd be interested in buying a copy of this?

No time this year. We'll see what kind of setup I have come next year. But I am taking note of who's interested. -

Oh boy, here we go ........ http://cgi.ebay.com/EBBRO-1-43-SUBARU-1100-FF-1-69-2Dr-WHITE_W0QQitemZ230173045447QQihZ013QQcategoryZ223QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem BTW,I know I have at least one of those side rear pillar vent covers. And for sure there's a grill there for you. You're gonna get a thrill out of those and hopefully an emblem/badge if there's an extra. Thinking about the bumpers, yes, the re-do shops will dip it deep and pull it up fast so you get the thicker coat. And compared to the "from Japan" bumpers they'd look like a '57 Caddy instead of a 70's Nippon Auto. Well,we'll see what happens. If there's an extra and you feel its cheap enough you might even want to score mine and get them re-dipped 'n buffed. No rubber pads on those bumpers like the '72 and later Sedans and Wagons. Easy to work with. -

I share this nice man's sentiments. And between all the warped love we have here, and minimal parts resources,we will all help to make this car the showpiece of the Historic Forum. Never, never, never let this car go unless it goes to someone who you are sure will cherish it. Of all the stock we bought in that barn deal last year I would say there's roughly $1000 worth of parts for this car. (prices when new) Before you read this list please keep in mind that my close friends here have the rights to items firstly for their ff-1 wagons. Some of the items I most likely have for the ff-1 2door: bumpers !!!! turn signal lenses tune up parts heater duct front grill some emblems might have that side vent cover !!!!! more... Charlie in CT took the fender-not sure which side. And he might have a hood too. But yours is solid,so you should be able to work with what you have. I/we do not have upholstery or dashboards, etc. Most of the stock I have is high replacement parts. Also keep in mind that I cannot take an order and fill it very soon. The old stock is all in boxes and I will be getting to it over the fall and winter. Super special thanks to workinwood !!!!!!!!!!! Team player !!!!!!!!! -

Happy happy, joy joy..... Just a reminder that I am more than likely the one person with the most manuals and parts for this car on the planet. Those service manuals are what you need for now. I also have the Parts Manuals. Give it a good looking over and make that list. There's at least two others in the PNW,one a two door, one a four door. -

Wow! Talk about Karma :-p Uhh,weren't we just talking about loud exhausts. I'd say you cursed yourself that day. I have to laugh because you told me then that you were fairly unfamiliar with Subarus having loud exhausts. I was thinking you were the only one on the planet. Welcome to the club. Glad you're all set now. -
Yo , give up a good report. Sorry, can't make it soon. But I do think September will yield a good weekend. Plan is to take the son, camp, hit Pine Barrens, and the Yards of PA up 61 to Harry's and the northern run home, probably I-84. Friday night to Sunday afternoon/evening.....when Harry's closes. AND,probably in the '78 or '79 if I register it like I want to,soon. Have fun, safe ride.
