Heads up for turn signal lenses for 72-3 DLs
moosens replied to leone's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Sorry,I guess I read your post wrong. So,what you mean is that there's a seller offering such lenses, correct? 970autoparts has been a really good guy to deal with. -
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49973 That's what you need. Enjoy! * Read it first and think it out. Spend a minute or two looking it over with the instructions. You can bang this out quicker than I did. Good luck, and yes,you will smile really big and for a long time when that heat warms your toes.

engine is in the cargo area, but thanks for offering. Son changed his mind.....mentioned it,started raising the humidity in the house....sharpening chisel.

Well, thanks Jerry...I've called you a God before and I'll surely keep that impression going. Geez,I'm kind of weak in the gut right now. Just looked over the photos from the first post. That's certainly a VERY workable piece of machinery. As for the west coast trip....going to need to work on it. Wasn't too thrilled about my son overhearing the whole conversation and then telling me he'd rather not fly out west.....:-\ . So,with that and knowing the wife's stance on flying these days....going to have to sharpen the chisel and swing the hammer more swiftly to make this happen. stay tuned

Restoration project question
moosens replied to ShawnW's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Not to me. You keep the bodystyle going and be realistic about functionality. Screw automatics unless you need to sit in traffic. No biggie,it's a rare bird and certainly vintage at this point. For some time now my feelings have been that we need to subdivide the Historic Forum into Vintage pre-80 (Gen I Brat included) and vintage EA81. Maybe now we can kick it around. Not trying to offend, but we've added everything from Vanagons (again, not poking at you, etc.) to Vendors,Trail runs, beer runs,etc..... so one more little change shouldn't be too big a deal....I hope. We'll see what the "Vintage Resistance" squalks about. Oh,I am the vintage resistance....nevermind.:-p ok,back on subject... Dress it up! You can always put stock wheels on if you hear enough noise from the .....whatever they are. -
Stage I is different from Stage II by virtue of one little stinkin pipe being at a different angle. Same location, different exit angle. There are two p/n's for the Stage II. One is for Stage II 1977 and 1978. And one is for '79. The FPM shows them NOT being interchangable. Why? I'm not sure right now but will investigate. So,if the '79 is different I'll need one of those, one of the Stage II '77-8,and at least two of the Stage I. So I'm up to 4 now.

Carlisle show May 16-18 2008

Good for him. -
First two weekends in March are out. Third weekend ...that Friday is my B'day...not sure but most likely skip that weekend. Still need a little more time to nail down a good date. Thinking first weekend in April might be better. But,I'd go for one of the last two weekends in March as long as the family plans work out. At this time of the year it might be worth the money to stay in a motel. I've camped at the Batso campground which is part of the State land. It's around back of the area we start off at (Ranger station of Rt. 206 in Atsion). Plenty of maps available. http://www.pineypower.com/geninfopbpg10.html Lodging: http://www.pineypower.com/lodging.htm Offroading : http://www.pineypower.com/offroading.htm And its all part of the Wharton state Forest : http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/wharton.html Hope you can make it. Should be a much better year for us. I'm guessing we're going to make the run at least two times this year, maybe three or ?? We'll be at the Carlisle Import show the third weekend in may and will probably make another dash through the Barrens on the way home like last year.

Skip, damned if you don't look as devilish as the little fellow on the hood.... pardon the switcherooney but I just happened to have a curiousity about our old pal just this AM and did a quick Google. Obviously he's gotten shy here not being on since sometime in 2006.... ....but apparently he's into a bi-plane now. Could not find him listed with his said employer but I didn't bother looking too hard there for fear of guys showing up at my door in black suits and sunglasses. Well, again, sorry, but that guy does have a dedicated website for the BRAT and all..... but kind of glad he's elsewhere now. Let's see those BRATs !! -
Unfortunately you won't find it over here in this forum. You need to check the Older Generation of Subarus and maybe post in the Subaru Stuff Wanted forum as well. This is the Historic Forum. Dedicated to the pre-80's car for now. Exception being the '80 and '81 Brat and some folks with 1600's who stop in. This is one heck of a task,to me. If you do it I'll pay for a set even though I own every FPM,FSM,pricing guide, and several other pieces of dealer/service dept. literature from the begining of SOA in 1968 thru the mid 80's and then some. My books are old, heavy, and moldy smelling which can give me a wicked migraine/sinus headache. So far CD's haven't done that to me. Well, there was that time somebody put on a Pearl Jam CD and I got sick ......blargh!!!!! :-p

Who'd be interested in buying a copy of this?
moosens replied to moosens's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Yes,I need a place to work first. Also need to invest in some equipment to do it right or work with someone. I've made some really cool ducts and cowls/scoops but they aren't a real serious product. I'm still learning but when i get space to work things will really start to happen. So far I've screwed around and made some cool tube stock, rod stock, flat sheet stock, some interesting shapes including really cool superlight-weight funnels, some door panels from my friend's Lotus Elan.... -
G-man,it's for a stage II 77 or 78 4WD wagon only. enjoy!

PM coming

Here's a tease to get them warmed up. This is from my own factory PM's. Good luck with that.

My wishes: Faust in Allentown, although I can be persuaded to blow by it if I get a negative report (Subarus were across the new highway being built which was two feet of mud last time we were there). they had a Gen I BRAT and some other oldies, not a bad yard at all. the Rt. 61 places (and those just off 61) then Harry's Thinking early April. Kick it around.
