Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
moosens replied to Kostamojen's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
OK now the real deal begins. We wish you well, and hope for the best. But,at this point you are at the very meaning of the words "basket case". Good luck. Too many projects lay in boxes. I'm sure several older guys here will attest to that. Me,I'm going on my 20th year of my Ducati restoraion. But raising a family is more important. Kids are straight A students. So my MAIN PROJECT is a success. Go get 'em ! -

Oh gosh,Galen you want the manual I have for $5 rather than that one for $15+ Steve,I probably have another in my buried stock of mannies....don't waste your money ,they show up cheaper than that one you listed. -

It's here,I can send it along real soon. Didn't you win that woodgrain vent from me on eBay? I've got that boxed and ready. Send an extra $5 and I'll send that '75 manual along. It's in great shape,BTW. Pardon the hijack. -
New Subaru Commercial With Brat
moosens replied to Durania's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
blah blah blah ..... somewhat cute, but that's where it ends for me. Consider the way the industry has gone and that Subaru is just another cog in the big machine. They ditched their old fuel saving cars, they neglected the vintage owners from the moment they hit big in the 80's, they don't make any effort to support the vintage or enthusiast crowd here unless you're buying STi parts. When they bring back something like a 1600 or 1400 I'll appreciate them showing those cars. Hey Fuji H.I., I dare you to make a dual range on demand 4WD fuel injected 1600 or 1400 for the entire western hemisphere. Punks! Give us what we NEED. NOT what advertising mindwarps us into believing we WANT. -

Which 1975 FSM do you have? Mine says 4.125,that's why I originally posted the other thread. MSA-105 page 1-7 check it out. Also, that same manual shows the engines with two port exhaust and mentions the advent of the EA63E for the 4WD on page 4-3 Previous page explains the new two-port heads for 1975. -

windshield gasket for 78 brat
moosens replied to nevbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have NEW gaskets that were just produced within the last two years...or less. We did a group purchase awhile back and had them made up before the mold goes to scrap. To answer your question the same gasket fits sedans and wagons as well as your BRAT. But not the Coupes. You'll see another seller on eBay with them in a package for a lot more than my price. And he's overseas, and who knows when those were made. My remainders are currently going for $60 plus $12 shipping. Contact me through PM or email if you want to get one going your way. I am once again in the middle of moving my storage so please bear with me. I will be all done by June,or should be,so the gaskets will turn up soon. I do not have them handy, but they aren't too buried either. I just have a LOT going on and cannot go searching for them at this time. If you commit to one I'll surely get it to you before the end of May. -
Am I wrong by saying the Stage I manual shift trannies are 4.125 final drive? I knew it wasn't 3.7 but couldn't recall the number. Assumed it was 3.90 like the later years. But according to what I've been reading they seem to be 4.125 Probably why they have that "trucky" feeling.

I will also take the cores I have around for pricing on whatever amount they'll give a discount on. Right now things are a bit crazy as I've been told I need to vacate my rental. One good thing from this is that I'm now having my eyes and hands on parts like the Stage I and Stage II heaters,etc.... Infact,I had the notion today to take them both out....so soon enough I will. Need to get a new rental and hump out the migration. Probably going to be 99.5 % me doing it,like last time,so bear with me over these next 6 weeks or so. Good thing its springtime.:-p At least we have some time to work on this before anyone's toes go numb.

Pics of my 76 wagon
moosens replied to 76subi wagon's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Cool. If I may advise you,please...take the fenders off , remove the foam strip crap that will be found on the back side of the fender where it meets the unibody. You can see the start of that rust that occurs on the top of the fenders on your driver's side. -

Brat sliding rear window in Utah
moosens replied to Sweet82's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
There's that style shown, the double center sliders, and the solid glass for the Gen I. I just removed this very same style from an '80 Brat with a really nice gasket still intact. -

Send me a PM and I'll hook you up. Between myself and Charlie we have like three of the first Gen Brat sliders and rear glass of all styles. Last time I was there I removed one from a 44k BRAT and the gasket was very usable. -
Brat steering wheel replacement

No,it should come right off. Just work it a little. -
Sounds cool. Family all just saw the promo and date(s) look open for now. Only about 3 hours drive so no big deal there. Going to pass this along to my friend. Nicest MG TD in the world in their garage along side of the Lotus Elan unrestored but super fast and fun as anything 40 years old. Next four months will dictate what we bring. Doubt it'll be "Sport" or "Exotic". Should be a cool spectator event for us.

this weekend is out Luc needs to ask his coach about taking a baseball practice day off. Trying to get next weekend locked down. '78 is ready for action now. If someone wanted to wheel during a weekday I might be able to swing that. Would have to not get down there untill after rush hour - probably get in the woods around 11AM-ish.

Single exhaust port EA63?
moosens replied to Kostamojen's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Had both, should still have both 2 and 4 port 1400's. Wrote about it in the past. Not sure if anyone searched or if it'll even show up. You'll find that the two port 1400 which several board members insisted did not exist, was adapted for the 1975 4WD wagon in the US. At least that's where mine came from. Cheers
