Harry's Day sometime this spring. We've done it before. And the Rt. 61 favorites. You local guy , we near by folks really appreciate any sighting reports. It's a good 3-4 hours drive for me. Anybody hit Faust in Allentown this last 7 or so years? Haven't gotten there since they were splitting the property with the new highway going thru. They had one Gen I Brat and other vintage stuff on that split lot way up in the far corner. Once upon a time ...

My 73' Coupe Restoration
moosens replied to Datsunrides's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
You see much or any Real flex when suspended in rotisserie fashion? I've heard resto guys (some of course) the rotisserie is tough on unibody cars. Let's hear from The Man. I can now see myself doing the same in a rented storage unit. Lol but hey , if it works I'm all for it. Looking most inspiring from this coast. -
I'll be sure to set what I find aside for you. There's a box of mixed stuff I have that still has some 72-3 stuff in it. Nothing too great as I recall but I'm pretty sure I or ctsuba have those cool bumper guards. I can picture in my mind ctsuba's pile of those early glove boxes. We have some NOS rear panels. Might be a 72-3 in there. Dome light almost certain we both have. Trunk lid , maybe and NOS ! Winter is here and storage not so easy to deal with but I'll keep all in mind and hopefully get stuff off before Your winter.

1979 Subaru DL Revving really high!
moosens replied to doughildreth's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
My wife suddenly seems interested in driving another vintage Subaru but it has to be an automatic. So let me know when you're bored with it. ???? Sounds like you scored the gear locally. The metal upgrade or plastic?- 8 replies

They show up infrequently. Ask your dealer to check west coast supply. They can and should but often won't.

Yeah I'm the only jackass who uses a vintage Subaru thru the chemical season. Mine has Zeibart mostly still doing its job but even then there are spots where you just could not stop the protection from wearing away and then of course rust to follow. I'm really lucky to have been able to keep mine going as original. But that day is on the horizon where I'll have to put it to rest or take on some serious bodywork. Keeping it from moisture is key. Although I do not have garage space my car's survival has been assisted by the fact that it is always over pavement with some air circulating all around it. If you have a garage I suggest the bubble. Look into it or low voltage fans to circulate the air some. Your exhaust will also go south just from sitting. Nature of the beast.

EJ22 1981 Brat Write Up
moosens replied to jimbob_goatboy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Fuel management is what I'm most curious about in an EJ22 drop in 70's project. FI? Tank pressure? Carb'd EJ???? Mmmmm -
It's a rather nice example. Especially for the northeast. There are pics out there already somewhere from the previous owner. But yeah , show the car. We know what the fuse box looks like.
-
Oh , and I have a bunch of original factory fuel filters in their Subaru boxes. I also have some new old stock for your car like tail light lenses and side markers etc.

name is moosens but I understand how you saw that ..... Paul works too. That dome light cover just pops off. Use a fine blade straight head or just your fingers as you gently squeeze it to release the cover. I have some low mileage parts still from a real life old lady car 76 GF two door. I have that fuse cover for sure and plenty more. You car was almost mine. Lol !! Enjoy it !!! You can always try me here or email moosens at yahoo

Dead Loyale after timing belts broke and replaced
moosens replied to TPaul's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Are timing covers off now? Are marks still where they should be? -
Usually filters have arrow on Side or Top to indicate flow. And those bulbs are easy enough to find.
-
You want to check the fuse box itself is grounded properly too. The order is the same for your 76 as the later models , box and cover same but maybe blue and black.

Greg , welcome ! I'm unable to see where you are but given your criteria and especially if you are in a rust zone , you may want to find one from a high and dry climate. Also you might want to consider a 90-94 Legacy. Enjoy !

Trying to start for first time after 14 years...
moosens replied to Scooner's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
79 begins electronic distributors and internal voltage regulation. So that's why the later EA71 - actually last version of top starter and now wide case at this point - has the pick up. -
Using my 78 4wd wagon for function in the slop that covered our roads today. Man what great looks this car gets now! And there were accidents everywhere but none I saw were our brand. That's it ! Nothing too major. Just saw the historic section needed a push. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. !!

EA81 (Brat) brake system malfunction - help diagnose
moosens replied to ettev's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Probably unrelated but check that the plastic air suction thing isn't disintegrating. Just something I thought of in relation to my old gen 2 brat. Mine broke up and chunks of the plastic cause major carb/drivability issues when good old Skip took it home to PA. Good luck ! Happy Thanksgiving!
