Yeah...if you baby it you can get almost 200,000 miles out of a clutch...but on average i'd say 100,000 isn't to bad. It might just need some adjusting.

My mother used to have a notebook in her car to keep track. I do it every few tanks to see what my mileage is. When I do a lot of highway I will usuly always check it. I get about 24.5MPG in the summer and 22.5MPG in the winter. I hope when I get new plugs, fuel filter, and etc. it will improve slightly since the price for a gallon of gas is insane.

How many miles before you're due for new brakes? If it is only a few thousand miles...i'd suck it up and deal with it. But...if they are new and you have a long while left on them, i'd get them fixed (depending on the price)

Some say parts get worn out a lot faster...and before you know it, you will be spending much money getting stuff fixed. Do a search...it has been discussed many times.

Starting with the model year 2000 2.5L engine (I am 99% sure it is 2000....maybe 2001?) the problem was pretty much corrected, so you'd be fine getting a newer one. It is the 1996 - 1999 ones you have to look out for.

As long as your mechanic will give a warrenty on his/her work, then that would be fine. I'd go whereever it was cheapest.

Ehh...time will tell. There are so many EJ22 out there with 250,000+ miles... We have to wait and see if the newer EJ25 will take that much mileage and be as dependable.

Unhook the negitive battery cable for like 15 minutes, then let it idle for 5 minutes. This will reset the ECU. If the light comes back on, then take it to auto zone and have them pull the code for you. And...on Subaru Legacys, 1995 and newer, you can use an OBDII reader. I am not sure about other models and it having to be a 96 or newer...
