VW Scirocco/soob engine???
- VW Scirocco/soob engine???
- VW Scirocco/soob engine???
So I have had my eye on this VW Scirocco that is just sitting by this guy's garage, round headlights, looks to be the '74-79? model....I looked in the interior and was surprised to see it in great shape-few cracks in dash, but seats, headliner, etc all in very good shape, with food glass....I haven't approached the guy yet or looked at the engine compartment...But I am curious.... Someone tell me, would the conversion to a 4x4 soob engine be possible??? Or better yet, tell me where to go to look up the parts needed, and where to research this conversion! Any ideas/thoughts are appreciated...- 78 Brat: note of thanks to Biffanyus
I'll throw in my vote for Tommy...one cool guy...I bought his '82 Brat and I'll say he was a pleasure to deal with, A+ in all areas...hope he stays connected with us as well....and anyone that has a Brat they wish to sell in Fl...let this man know and give him a deal! I can't wait to continue the work he started on the '82! Oh, and Skip...I give you 2 thumbs up as well...I saw the '78 and drooled...did not know he had that one for sale until I commited to the '82, not that I am not happy with it...I am it is just that the Brat you snagged is NICE...you do not see to many of those years left....glad someone took it that will take care of it... Later, Shane- New To The Forum
Welcome to the board! Are you planning on any mods/after market changes with your soob?- Newbie! Just got a 2006 spec.b (Akron OH)
Hello and welcome to the board! While I am not too familiar with the soobs you mention, I've been checking out the subiesport magazine and what others like you have listed on this site...some intense stuff can be done with these cars! Hope you have fun with this 25th car!- new member from Socal =)
Welcome to USMB! Great place for info, help, and to meet other soobie owners!- Mark your calendars: SubieFest 06
Great! Now if I could just discover a way to make it there with my soob....and be off work for the amount of time it would take to drive there, hang out several days, then drive back....AARRGH!- Party @ My House
Happy Birthday! Hey, Get toasted if it's your thing...just keep everyone-including yourself away from the wheel of a car, power tools, firearms, oh, and large caches of black powder and bonfires DO NOT mix!- Hello hello!
Welcome to the board! Yes you will find all you need here and more! All the members are extremelly helpful as well! 3 soobs? Well, I have 2 and will be picking up my 3rd this week (another Brat! Yeah!) So, I have to say...it is addictive....- It is Official!
I was able to get my '82 Brat yesterday. Man, is it nice! Sure a few things to fix but in all the brat is in good shape. I will post some pics in the next few days of what it looks like. I think this will be my daily driver once the clutch is fixed. I'll keep the wagon as a project and loan it out to my Parents as needed-they need a "beater" too...and the 2nd Brat I am picking up just before christmas...it will be my project "wilderness vehicle"....- New member
Welcome, there are many people on here that I am sure can help you...I am new as well or I'd give it a shot....but my technical ability is limited as of now...- What do your friends think of your hobby!?
I have the same problem here in this armpit of a town...I could not find any Subaru owners....at least not the 70's. 80's or 90's ....there are a few retired couples who drive the new outbacks...even finding a subaru to buy here was difficult. The only guy I know who thinks they are great is an Aussie I work with-he and his wife both drive soobs. I can not wait to get my '89 wagon running and go where all the SUV's and HUGE lifted chevys and fords can not go!- Hi
Well, I can not believe it...another Subaru person in my general area! Glad you made it here! I wish there were more Subie owners in my state and the others around me! Keep me posted if you find any killer deals on Subaru parts or vehicles in our area and I'll do the same!- It is Official!
I was just glad to find a subaru in this area! They seem to be in short supply...or coveted by those who have them and thus never bring them out of storage and into the light of day....oh yeah, I expect to pump a bit more money into this one...so the original $75 will skyrocket....- It is Official!
Well, I did it...I purchased my 1st Subaru today...! It's a 1989 GL Wagon with 117,000 miles on it. The body, pretty rusted around the wheel wells, and doors are feeling the pain too...will need new front tire, and the front driver's side panel is dented...the engine is not working, fuel pump was out but it did start up with the old owner putting fuel in the injector-or so he said-but he found antifreeze in the oil, started draining the engine but left it to sit for almost 1 1/2 years...going to tackle that first thing, the belts are all shot(not a big deal)...interior is very nice, no rips in seats, dash in great shape, head liner, etc...I plan on just doing a complete overhaul if it seems worth it... That is the quick and dirty about it, point is I snagged it for $75 with a good title, maybe too much for it, but I wanted a "beater" and a soob to tear the engine down and begin experimentation with, etc...looks like I found it! I'll post pics of it ASAP and any progress I make as well. I go next week to pick up my '82 Brat as well!! Yeah! Yet another reason I want this wagon to mess with, before I tear into the Brat! Welcome...you should be able to find assistance on this site with no worries...I have just closed a deal on a Brumby myself....and am eager to do some modifications on it myself...I would like to see some pics of your Brat, wanting ideas on a Bull/Brush Bar for my Brat and anything else that catched my eye.... think you could post some of them here on the site?? Or send me some?- New Member saying hello
Welcome! There is so much info & knowledge here! Plus, there are many people eager to help with any problems and in finding what you need for your soobs....plus you live in an area where there are many soob owners...I am envious....- New member saying hi
Welcome! This place is great for all kinds of info, and everyone is eager to help fellow soob owners from engine probs, to mods, to finding a soob....- Help on purchasing/price of Brat
Thanks everyone, I thought I had a good deal, but wanted to make certain...and yes, in KY, Subarus are rare anyway...of any type. I'll take photos an post them when I get the Brat and keep everyone updated on any mods or restoration I do...besides I'll be needing advice....- Help on purchasing/price of Brat
OK, here's the deal...been looking at several Brats lately, and realatively new here so would like some ideas on fair price range for one particular Brat... '86 GL Brat, 170,000 miles.white ext, blue int, new catalytic converter, new clutch & press plate, new weber carb, new water pump, new wheel bearings Accident free, non-smoker, white spoke wheels, camper top, little rust in usual spots...wheels wells, small amount under doors, bed is solid...was his daily driver, getting married and bought a van so guy is wanting to dump... Talked him down to $800, claims he cannot go more as he put $$$ into the Brat...had been driving it daily until about 7 months ago... I've seen so many comments about Brats for under $500 I wonder if I am getting a good deal??? By the way I am in KY...and I have found VERY few Brats or any Subies in my area....ARRGGHHH!!!!! Thanks...Shane- Subaru Owners in the KY Area?
Live in Harrodsburg, about 45 mins from Lexington...What kind of subaru you have? Any mods to it? - VW Scirocco/soob engine???
