Cool Tex, I'm waiting for Ken to give me work on how to get in. ALSO. Do any of you Hatch Patrollers have photos you'd like to have on the site for members' rides? Or cool action or group photo shots? Post 'em here, we'll grab 'em.

Air filters? Stock Box/Cone/Snorkel
I can't imagine how the car breathing its air in the fender would keep water out of the carb. (sorry about the quality of the photo, it was taken from the tv as I played the video)

http://www.hatchpatrol.com/ We haven't updated it in a long time. I get emails from people asking if we still even exist. I have to get the keys to the site from Ken. But, I have lots of photos to add for members and trips we've taken that need to be on the site. If it's still do-able, anybody up to it?

Bent stuff on lifted EA82
Talk to Tex, he had "skid plates" built for those blocks. They're pretty exposed.

EZap's Body Shop (don't look if you don't like dents on pretty Soobs)
I pulled off the panels inside the door to get access. Then, I used my bare hands to push the dents out from the inside. The door sill I had to beat with a piece of 2X4 and a hammer to bend it back down. Straightened out nicely. The door trim was pretty hammered too, so I bent it back into shape. The little plastic dealies that hold the trim on have to be pinched from the inside, they'll fall right off to be reused. Good luck.

Air filters? Stock Box/Cone/Snorkel
You're gonna think I'm joking, but I'm not. This is an easy snorkel for a Weber and KNN filter. Ralf thought this up for his hatch. Works like a charm. Water that would drip from the hood thrown from the belt after it goes under has no chance at getting into the filter. Water that flows thru the radiator can't get to it either. Very little water splashes up from the rear of the engine compartment. The "snorkel" doesn't seem to affect the way the car breathes. I've used it a 6000+ft in the mountains with no problems. When it comes to H20, the achilles heel of the ea81 is its front mounted disty.

EZap's Body Shop (don't look if you don't like dents on pretty Soobs)
Yeah, it pissed me off. No, the dents were from a week ago when I had to 4X it out of gnarlier stuff than a Soob should EVER have to be forced to manouver thru. (on the way in, a spider gear blew in the rear diff, left me with only one wheel getting any power in the rear) Tree and its big rump roast root did the damage.

Another snow run
I've got my need for snow satisfied for a little after today, so I'll sit this one out. Tinkam (Tinkham?) Road is fun, as well as the Forest Service road an exit away. The roads give up some sweet views. Lots of hikers straight outta REI that hate the idea of some one having the ordacity to drive on their snow shoe routes. They'll frown at you no matter how slow you go, even if you wave and smile at them. Just the other side of the Summit is Gold Creek. Lots of snow up there, not so deep yet, but lots of it. The roads are great for minor rallying, but there's lots of hunters in big slow trucks, so beware hi speeds on blind corners. We'll go up for the Annual HP Xmas Tree Run on (I would guess) the 27th or 28th of this month. 25 vehicles last year, 40 smiling people in the photo.

T-case lift FAQ (transfer case questions / answers)
While I've not owned a rig with the divorced t-case, I've been around several and was deeply invloved in building a brat that used it. So, I gotta disagree with you a little BB. Since 8 inches of lift or more is needed to add the t-case, it will sit about par with a byb/pk 4 inch lifted soob. Your Y-pipe is waaaaaaaaaay up there, and in my opinion, the Y-pipe is the Soob's Achilles heel offroad. You gain BIGTIME Y-pipe clearance. WHile it may look like the Tranny crossmember is hanging, it doesn't change height, but gets higher with bigger tires. Not true. With 4lo on the Soob tranny running thru the t-case, you have some crazy low gears. Robert drove the Unhatched (the original to do the swap) more than 1000 miles to the Rubicon from Northern WA. He easily kept up 70 mph and got near 30 mpg. With 31s. In fifth gear. Several Mountain passes ta boot. Other than those, you've done your homework well. Great write up, great idea to do so. EZ
