  1. David Sorry I haven't answered your emails, but I think my computer has a virus or someting and I'm afraid to email anybody. I jsut got back on line about a day ago. You have my #, feel free to contact me the old fashion way. About your camber. . . Are you sure you adjusted the struts down? You may have gone the oposite way. You can look at photos of that car, and you'll see that the camber is almost perfect when it's sitting level with the struts adjusted down. I don't see why anything would change with new tires. It used to wear coopers, I sent you a photo with them on. If one of your rims seems different, switch it to the back. See if that changes anything. Like I said, feel free to call me, emails are useless right about now. EZ
  2. If you give that seam a cut about 6-8 inches up, it will fold over easier. You should have to cut the fender a little too. The floor/wheel well will require a little beating back too.
  3. If you can talk Qman intomaking the trip, I'll ride shotgun with him and film it all with the digicam. But my purty hatch ain't goin' nowhere near Walker. I've been there a couple of times, I know what that place is like. I like opening my doors.
  4. Harsh. If we run into that here (yeah right) then we can just zip up to one of the local pull a parts and grab a whole torsion bar for 40 bucks or less. . .
  5. Did you know your rear torsion bar is adjustable? (82+) If you adjust it up and it sgs under the load, you've probably got too much stuff in the back.
  6. I scored some Gabriel gassers from eBay for 22.90 shipped.
  7. I for one appreciate the invite, but like the man said, this is the 80's gen forum, you have no place for me to post my old school stuff. (don't hesitate to come over here and be a part of the USMB, most of us are pretty nice, only a few grumpy folks like the one who welcomed you.) I do have an impreza as well, so I'll look/lurk in from time to time.
  8. The only rusty Soob I've ever owned came from NY and had lived in SLC before making it to Seattle where I became its 4th owner.
  9. (raises hand) I bought that one thru Moxey Motors for 600 bucks. Lifted it added the Coopers and a LSD and a Weber. I think it still lives in Seattle, though I haven't seen it for a while. The pictures never showed it's real green color. Really pretty.
  10. That's not the dumbest question ever. The dumbest question ever was: "Why did Qman put solid rear axles on his Brat?"
  11. I've never said "Driveway Queen". I've given a few folks crap for showing off their offroaders with photos of them in their driveways only. This would be my 8th lifted one. I have series of 5 videos with hours of me offroading soobs. I've backed myself up plenty. If this one never makes it offroad, so be it. Anybody who sees it in person would emphathize. And I'll tell you what. If you show me a photo of that big 6 inch Hassey brat that I've been after for offroad photos actually offroad, I'll pay you back with photos or video of this one offroad. But after almost 4 years of asking for a muddy photo of that one, I don't think we'll ever see it happening. And thank you for the compliment.
  12. If you take the time to scrape off the road dirt, it comes off a lot easier. But I've wrestled with one or two of those backing plates myself.
  13. He doesn't have a lift on that one, so it appears stock, but doesn't sound stock.
  14. If you guys can get four people together, the lift will be pretty easy and quick. One person at each corner. We did Ken's silver brat that way, took us an hour and a half to get it back on the ground and on its wheels. (No compresor, no power tools.)
  15. Tall roll bar? 14 inch mags? Qman.
  16. The rear discs we use come from a tubo loyale body style, same type of car as your Roxxanne, Snowman. I'll tell you this. Not "concrete" by any means, but my testimony. Your braking will improve after you add the rear discs to your car. You don't need a proffessor to help you do the swap, it's a take off/bolt on project. period.
  17. Thanks Mike. That's exactly what I try for. Each has a slighly different theme. This one will follow the last one. No big "road warrior" bumpers, no light bars, not too many stickers. But the kicker will be what I've got planned for the paint job. Yeah. When it's done, you guys will forgive me for not wheeling it I think. Hopefully I can forgive myself.
  18. Les Shwabb is the way to go if you ask me. They are not the best priced place, but you can find them all over the place to honor the warrantee. The last time I scored one, it was about 140 someting all installed and stuff, included shipping. Anybody who orders them has to order them right from Interco.
  19. Bro, I tried to stop by and wake you up yesterday early a.m., but your work truck was gone. Would love to show it to you John. It's actually white, and I'm thinking about pulling it in favor of a black one. I've got video of that trip with the blue brat at reiters. I spent the whole trip reaching out the window to push back branches to keep from scratching the pretty paint. Made me realize I had to sell it cuz I didn't have the heart to beat it. This one may never see mud, I'm serious. Lots of snow though. As for a keeper, it will be untill something better comes along. (that may be a while) I managed to hold onto the tan one for a little over a year, not bad for me.
  20. Here's some new better photos. This one will actually have a name. "Ozy". You'll all understand why soon enough.
  21. I'm really not in a hurry to get it muddy, the paint is too nice to scratch up. . . Washed it this morning, WOW! what a pretty car. . . I actually have thoughts of totally restoring this one. Mostly it needs cleaning under the hood to complete it.
  22. He be the new one. All runnin' and ready. The pic doesn't show the pretty blue color, but so be it, it's really overcast here today. This one is so sweet, I may not ever wheel it. We'll see.
  23. They are rare. But I know afriend who has one. A black 83. I think he paid way less than a 1000 bucks for it, real nice condition, less than a 100k on the clock. I'm never around it with my camera though. . .
  24. Central WA is the mountains. . . But if she does break in Wa, she'll be in good hands. There's lots of us here who can help.
