  1. Was probably his wife. We lifted it cuz he had a hard time getting into it as well as retrieving stuff from the bed w/canopy. His father had been the original owner, died at age 90something and left it to Rollie, his son. 85 with about 60k on it. Wasn't ever gonna see offroad. He works as a real estate agent. This the one? (one with the canopy, the other was mine)
  2. Jeez. I never said best deal ever. My best deal was probably the perfectly running 92 legacy I was given a year ago or so. I traded it for my current hatch + got 500 bucks. So has anybody every given any of you a sweet running, 100% rust free, 95% straight body hatch back + 500 bucks? Thought not. . . EZ (and Boz, I wouldn't pay 86 bucks for an 86 cougar)
  3. Forgot all about that one. Doesn't he still owe us a 100 bucks for lifting it for him? That was the only case I've ever agreed with lifting a brat not to 4X it. . .
  4. They won't necessarily seize. They will go out randomly. I've had two go on me. The first was as I was leaving Evans Creek in my old green hatch, had to drive 75 miles at 25 mph as it went CLACKITY BANG CLACKITY BANG! the whole way. Never did seize, but I expected it to and so gripped the steering wheel like crazy. (Arms hurt bigtime the next day) The ones on my current hatch just went. Drove it for almost a year with the slop you describe and the loud grinding noise. Drove it to Portland at least 2 times, several hard core 4X trips. Finally went about 2 blocks from my house. Again, didn't seize, just that loud clacking and banging all the way home. You got AAA? EZ
  5. If you wanna meet a bunch of cool Soob people from Mt Vernon, take exit 226? (Headed North) and stay on the East side of I-5. There's a road running parrallel to I-5, along abunch of corn fields. Take Johnson road. Just after the little bridge, turn left and follow the gravel road for about 100yards. You'll be at the Martin's, you'll know your there cuz there's about 40 Soobs in various states strewn about the yard. Ask for Todd or Jake, tell 'em who sent you, they'll take good care of you. Probable have that tailgate you're looking for. You can probably find Johnson Road pretty easy on a map of Mt V. Betting this guy you just met knows them, vice/versa.
  6. Do you ever post anything relevant Caleb? Or just nonsense to hike up your post count? ____________ If you see it again, put a note on it Mark. That's how me and Ken got the Hatch Patrol on its feet, by pestering every offroad looking Soob we came across.
  7. Brian That gen one wagon totally reminds me of my first Soob. Definitely my most durable. I picked it up 10 years ago for $300. Had 99k on it, everything worked, even the A/C. Still ran when I abandoned it 9 months later. But I was waiting for Boz to speak up with his good deal. I know us Westerners get good stuff like this all the time.
  8. I thought you'd dropped off. I had thought to make a big map and directions to be printed on the back. If you think the smaller one is readable, cool. I printed out a few of your rough drafts, the only thing missing would be contact info and the web site addy. Ken@: qman4x4@comcast.net Eric@: chairotsu@earthlink.net http://members.dsl-only.net/~sawlid/wcss6/ Thanks Jeff. EZ
  9. It's for my buddy Wonder, he needs a car to drive for a few months till he can buy something newer. I'll get it back after that, would love to lift it.
  10. An old DL with high miles and a bad tranny? Eric, You are slipping. I am not trying to be negative but just honest. Me?, I would pass. I guess it all depends what you are into, what you like, want, need. I guess if you need the dash and some body panels it's worth it. I remember while growing up people couldn't even give stuff like that away. Oh well, As long as you are happy then I am happy for you. .... By being a DL, I only lose a tach and two more headlights. Big deal. The tranny works, just doesn't go into reverse. Drove it home. A good 4 speed D/R is sitting in my garage waiting for a host. Hell, I have a parts 4X hatch behind my garage with everything I'll need. Pow. Little sucker runs like a dream, lots of stuff replaced, brakes, tires, c/vs. . . Tabs till 1/05. Interior's nice too. Tell me about your score that beats that my friend. But thanks for being happy.
  11. 83 DL, runs great, needs a tranny. I have one. 340k, just the slightest rust under the rocker panels. Dash isn't even cracked.
  12. With the morrors tucked in, roughly 62 inches. (tuff to measure it by myself)
  13. Yes, a 27 will fit a 14 inch wheel if it's a 14 inch tire. Here's that Swamper. And yes, you get what you pay for .
  14. I think the most aggressive 14 inch tire would be the 27/9.50 Supper Swamper SSR. Check the offroad mags, they have a great selection in their adds, give you a good idea of what the tread patterns look like before you go shopping.
  15. Fine. Consider that the first job to be handed out. You are the bouncer Rob. People never believe I can kick rump roast till I'm kicking their rump roast. I spent some time being a door man at a bar for a while. They never wanna take the skinny guy seriously.
  16. If you know his name and address, chances are you can call 411 and get his number. Way back before the internet, there was a thing called a telephone.
  17. Get 'em Boz! Noted that wagonsonly is a procrastinator to say the least. I am warned. I've delt with more people on this board than any of you, and can say that it's very rare that people don't pay up. It is common for folks to say they want something and not ever follow thru. I've posted my "positive feedback" and the list was about 45 people long. (just the ones I can remember board names) Sooner or later I'll post my "dead beat" list. It's not near as long.
  18. Did you see the post a few back where I show it with a 12 oz beer poured into it? Doesn't even fill it half way. It's a liter all right.
  19. First. Good luck with your brat, you're on the right track. Second. This is Bob the Brat. Yours must be Bob 2 or Robert or something.. http://community.webshots.com/photo/37919799/60788769eqYlqp
  20. Carfreak I talked with the guy I told you to go to to do your rebuild. They said 6 bills plus you supply the cam if you want a different one. Includes heads redone and polishing of the crank among others. Don't think you could beat that with a bat, shoot Hammer can't touch that. Call 'em.
  21. These will be available for folks attending the West Coast Subaru Show. I quit taking orders a week ago or more. Sorry. However, there will be a couple extras that will be for sale at the show.
  22. Here it is compared to a pint glass. hehe I think it will hold a bit more than a pint. I'll test one out tonight to see how they work.
  23. We settled on the one we'll use. They won't be finished for some time, but here's a photo to show what they look like.
