Attn:SubieGal or someone who knows her
Don't worry, the rest of us still love you Moosey. I'll send you an email and let you know just why she's so angry at Ken or anyone having anything to do with him/me. We've saved all the dialog, and will forward it to you when we get back to Seattle. (we're on a secret mission right now, hehe) I say you've handled yourself like a gentleman Moosey. I'd say you just made yourself look pretty childish SG. That's some pretty knarly flaming/personal attack from someone who strictly upholds the law on another board. . . .think I'll go eat some worms.

Poor guy could hardly keep his lunch down when he was over at my house not so long ago. Being in the same room with my HP was killing him.

Hey you offroaders using welded diffs!!
Thanks for the stories and back up. I tried to get a buddy to believe me the other day that the welded diff would outperform his (viscous) lsd. He wouldn't hear it. If I could only get him to go out with us once. . .

About to start my disc conversion: help
Totally. Put them on, try them out, adjust accordingly. Ask Jeeves aka the USMB had to get its answers from somewhere. Someone has to try stuff out to be able to tell others what works and what doesn't.

re-drilling stock ea81 hub for 5 lug?
Think about it. Draw your four lugs on a piece of paper. Then draw five. Look at the two and see what's wrong. It would save you some typing.

Opinion on tire size/look (new pics added in first post...)
Looks like a skate board Mick. 205/75s at least. Sure is pretty though.

Well Rob, I'm not that bummed you sold it, I'm glad you might be able to make an end meet somewhere with the funds. You've been wheeling with us in your Mazda for years, so you'll still be around. I am pretty bummed that you sold it to someone who's Mom is gonna dictate whether he can drive it or not. Sounds like someone we'd have to babysit on the trail. . . Sounds like someone who's Mom would never let him wheel with us in the first place. (not like you had a choice of buyers, this I understand Rob) In summary, one less Soob in the Hatch Patrol. Hate it when that happens.

Moosey. Ken's computer bit into a worm yesterday, it's toast. So, Ken wouldn't be the best person to ask. As for "rifts". . . hehe, I tell ya. Whhooo. .

Where is the cheapest place to get parts?
BOW WOW Auto Parts has them for a decent price with lifetime warrantees. I just bought one today.
-
Uh oh...
Carfreak. You remember that place I told you to go to for the rebuild? They say they can do it for about 6 bills plus you provide your own cam if you want something special. Call 'em, talk to Steve, say you're the guy Eric was talking about about a week or so ago.

Newbie BRAT suspension lift questions
That's kind of a weird one, can't remember it coming up. Good question. Scott/Subarubrat (A search for Subarubrat.net? will bring up lots of info) has added his own variation of shocks and struts. His would be a good example to follow. You will have to find a way to get longer travel out of your axle/cv joints too. Since just about anything you use would need to be fabbed in, just about anything you choose to use could potentially work. I don't know of anybody who's tried this. I say just take measurements and a few guestimates and take it from there. You're in the right place to start. Good luck.

Hey you offroaders using welded diffs!!
I'm looking for testimonials as to what you think of it compared to open or limited slip diffs. Me personally. . . I swore by the lsd for a long time. The first few guys to get theirs' welded were still fairly new at offroading, so really showed me nothing special. But Ken finally got one. And one day we had a chance to find out their differences at a pretty gnarly rocky climb at Reiters Pit. What caused me to really make the little hatch work with lots of tries, Ken was able to walk right up. So I broke down and got one. Now I swear, the whole 4X thing got a whole lot easier! And to me, the extra 7 minutes it takes to add/subtract a rear axle to make it offroadable/streetable is totally worth the added ability. . . .And I still haven't broken a rear axle (knock on wood) just for not being so hard on the gas whle doing crazy snit.

FYI: For off-roaders
What are ya gonna use for front axles? How do you plan to get all the travel out of them. (enquiring minds wanna know.) Sounds cool so far Tony.WCSS6 is gonna be a pretty cool place to be for those who like/love monster soobs. Holy Cow.

debate at school
I know we're getting waaaaay off topic here, but. . . I've had 2 75 280s. There's no way I'm ever gonna knock one of them. But I did get a chance to see under the hood of a 68/69 mercedes, and the motor was exactly the wame as the one in your 260. With the dual side drafts and everything.

debate at school
Many companies were involved during the war, including Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Cadillac, Chrysler etc. I wouldn't call the technology a "rip off", I'd call it shared technology between the Germans and the Japanese during wartime. If you look at the Datsun Z motor, it's an exact copy of the Mercedes inline 6 from the 60's. . . I'd say the flat four we use looks quite a bit like a VW or Porsche. Who created/copied the V8?

Vollunteer needed
Thanks again Jeff. I successfully copied it only a disc, I'm on my way to Kinkos to give it a try. . . Whoohoo!

Stuffing a EA81 into a 1978 Wagon.
I was gonna post something just like that. It seems to be reasonable to think that it would all work since it did come in a 81 brat. They are exacly the same size right? So the components from one should go into a wagon. . . right? Jason/Chryslr swapped them both succesfully into that 80 brat he lifted. Sounds like an awesome idea. You'd have a pretty cool car then. How about an ea-81t? hehe
