  1. you can run an spfi fuel pump with a turbo. so has the gl-10 wagon "trashwagon 6" with rx motor and driveline
  2. to install the disty, line up the flywheel to 0 deg. drip in the distributor. dont get confused withthis mark and 20 deg the 20 deg mark is for setting the initial timing with a light while the engine is running and the green connectors plugged in now, when the o deg ark is lined up, the rotor will point to #1 on the cap, whicj is to the rear and right of the cap screw, facing towards the hill holder the mark on the passenger cam will poin to the hard corner on the cam cover what you will want to do is line up the timing belt marks so the driver side cam is up, then turn the flywheel till 0 deg comes up and then drop in the disty
  3. if you want to get to the TPS swing the alternator out of the way so you can get to it with a screwdriver. just take out the bolt on the side, loosen the long bolt, swing it up, leave the wires connected.
  4. the other axles will not fit the the 4spd auto. this tranny has 25 spline axles. the non turbo trannies have 23 splines if you needed axles for this car you will need them for a turbo 5spd or any full time 4wd now if your question regards swapping the tranny out of the 89 gl, say if it was a dual range tranny, yes all the parts will swap over to the body. so long as you swap allthe parts necessary what were your plans for swapping drivelines, and what driveline does the 89 gl have?
  5. i would agree withthe timingbelt. tale off the disty cap and crank the motor. if the rotor is not spinning then you have a broken timing belt
  6. if the gl-10 is turbo 5spd the axles willnot fit from the gl. but if the gl-10 is turbo with a 3spd automatic they will fit the struts will fit the same regardless
  7. dont lead a convoy of out of state subarus into a field of mud in the rain knowing better about the terrain causing several to be stuck and stranded for several days... by the way i SMOKED your clutch trying to get your trailer queen unstuck with the ford truck. go cry to zanny dook about your sweater
  8. the rotor lines up to #1 at 0 deg install the belts onto the cam sprockets then torque down the bolts as the belt will hold them still #1 cylinder is on the passenger front, firing order is 1-3-2-4 counter clockwise #1 on the cap is immediately to the right of the screw on the back side, pointing at the hill holder
  9. just be glad you arent in jail, reckless driving, suspended licenses, what have you. dont drive in indiana
  10. you willhave to swap the whole tranny for the diff lock, and to use the tranny you will have to swap over the front axles and the rear diff
  11. what skip says would pertain to you if your car is wedge shaped and has single composite headlights. this body is referred to as a 3-doo(86-89) the hatch back(80-89) is referred to the older bodystyle with 4 individual headlights and looks like a short 2-door wagon check out this link to learn about the different body styles and to let us know which one your car is so we can help you better if yours is the one with timing belts check out the article in the service and repair section http://www.economysuperstar.com/milesfox/subaru/models.htm
  12. working on an 86 ea82 putting it into an 83 wagon, the one sensor has 2 terminals, but they are the flat spade terminals, so yes, this is your dash gauge to be correct, one terminal is sideways from the other. this part is the same for ea81 and ea82 carb models, as the ea82 motor in the 83, the 83 plug fits on it the same and the gauge works my remarks about ea82 spfi would have wires coming out of the sensor, and a green clip the carb models only have one temp sensor and its for the gauge
  13. the picture shown above is withthe plenum removed. you dont have to take off the air filter boot or anything like that with the aluminum turbo plenum taken up you will have access to the air hose, the coolant hose, and the throttle cable, and ecu temp sensor just take up the 2 hose clamps. the plenum will still be connected to the air hose on the black piece aboce the thermostat housing, you can either take off the hose or just swing the plenum out of the way
  14. locking up when you stop? on one side? if so sounds like air in the line. whichever tire is locking up you have air on the opposite side and diagonally from the opposite tire
  15. the outback struts will be too big around to fit on the loyale knuckle. they will fit on xt6 knuckles but with all invlolved you would have to swap to xt6 5 lugs the strut tops will fit if you slot the one hole, or swap the loyale strut cap of you have a spring compressor my gl10 wagon had xt6 5 lugs using legacy struts with ea82 strut caps
  16. a regular subaru tire will be just fine dont use 4wd! you could go with a taller tire on the stock soob wheel, but anything bigger than 185/70 wont fit under the hood
  17. if you have enough air in the system or the coolant is so low, wayer wont pass over the sensor. beware of a COLD reading when you know the car is warmed up. same when the heat isnt hot if the coolant ois too low my sedan leaked at the water pump and i would leave the heat on. once the heat started to get cold it was time to pull over and add another gallon of water
  18. see what happens if you shift into lo or 4th before starting the engine
  19. the coolant line is the skinny hose off the bottom of the thermostat housing and it goes to the top of the block. if you are referring to the hose off the black part that is an air hose and it goes under the intake plenum (part with "turbo" cast into it) you can take up the plenum by loosening the hose clamps on both sides once you take that up you can access the coolant hose that runs af=cross to the top of the turbo
  20. the one with one terminal os for the gauge. the one with 2 wires and a green clip is for ea82 spfi ecu sensor.
  21. going to court always sux. last time i went i ran up some 1500 miles on my blown head gasket. try some of the copper block sealer to get you by. follow expliitely the instructions on the bottle!
  22. a lot of u-hauls hitxch selection is from valley hitches i checked into one for my sedan, it shows not available for the sedan but for the wagon. that is because the wagon is flat and the sedan curves up where the tow hooks are. the hitch bolts into place of the tow hooks when i had a fellow employee look up a subaru hitch they said it was the most expensive they had seen(here in wisconsin) suppose other uhaul marketing companies in different regions have different price or suppliers if going with u-haul get the part from them and install it yourself you will need a 3-wire converter for the pigtail because the turn bulb is separate than the brake bulb my sedan has a hitch. it came from an ea81 fwd wagon, i re-arranged the parts and bolted it between the bumper and the smuggler's box. i had to make holes behind the license plate to get a wrench on the nuts on the inside. the license plate has been re-located to between the taillights(its pimpin')
