  1. the noiise is probably the ball joint, not the steering
  2. it's still a subaru board. well, someone should know about an ecu. afterall, what do they think thir car engineered from? going to the old school side is the same as going to usmb. so there are other expertise in the other forums as well. its easier buy a car than put one together with someone elses money its all hype from what i have experienced there. have fun!
  3. the tire i have will go on the loyale but i will be going to indiana for some of my stash i have some 175 tires on painted wagon rims
  4. i work at u-haul and we service propane. this lady rols up in a cavalier and she goes to ppen what i thought was the trunk for her cylinder but she popped the gas cap. filled up with propane. it had an evaporayot/mix unit on the intake tube where the MAF would be, and a generic round air filter. the engine itself still had the fuel rails for gas. anyway we had the right fittings so it tool 10 gallons of propane (opd valve and all)
  5. http://www.economysuperstar.com/milesfox/subaru/service/timingbelt.htm
  6. the metal line running from the head turns into a rubber hose under the turbo
  7. dude you are from milwaukee! so am i. well, i just moved here anyway. i have soobs which one are you? im on the east side, the loud rump roast sedan withthe lights and antennae i may have a taillight i have quite a stash down in delavan milesfox@yahoo.com
  8. remove the cap and see if the disty is turning. sounds like no signal from disty, check the timing belt http://www.economysuperstar.com/milesfox/subaru/service/timingbelt.htm
  9. i have seen the same red xt6 2 days ina row just the other day, the first and only xt i have seen in all of wisconsin since i moved here. the only other xt i saw was off the side of the toll road between fort wayne and chicago
  10. swapping an ecu from am at to a maunual body, the ecu will recognize itself as an MT, as its connected to the MT's harness which will ground it appropriately and have no need for the inhibitor circuits
  11. winter is coming. dont be caught without a subaru
  12. all ea82 flywheel clutch setups are the same for 5spd 4wd. so a pushbutton 5spd clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, and driveshaft(you will need a driveshaft) will all fit the same
  13. 1. not without lower control arm modifications, or without a ea82 strut conversion(drilled strut tower or modified strut cap) and custom axles(ea81 length with ea82/xt6 ends) 1. it can be done with the right combination of stock parts 1. the axle is the key to this conversion, should someone match the right combination of axle parts
  14. bad distributor(crank angle sensor)
  15. 85 wagon motor will work. use the carb and intake from the 85 with its motor. connect anything theat will match such as electrical connections use the flywheel from the ea81, drill out the holes for an ea82 flywheel bolts if the 83 was FWD 5sd and the 85 was fwd 5spd the clutches would fot the same, use the ea82 flywheel in any other case you will scribe the timing belt marks to the ea81 flywheel. the bolts are m10 x 1.0 thread the motor will fit just right. i recommend removint the inner and outer timing belt covers for future service remove the disty before installation to clear the master cylinder the hill holder will have to be re-located(bend the lines)
  16. pinch it with needle nose plier. take out the bedal box or the steering column if you want for more room
  17. maybe a crossed plug wire or the timing belt is off
  18. the ea81 will fit just drill your flywheel holes out for the ea82 bolts and tour current flywheel the hill holdere will have to be repocated, bent out of the way pretty much install the motor first, then the distributor so you can celar the master cylinder the ea81 pitch bar bracket will swap onto ea82 ea81/ea82 intakes are interchangeable. go with the ea82's
  19. really you could leave it like it is and torque the other ones down. you can drive the car witn no problems for the immediate while, or at least till you get another head, motor, or the bolt out, what have you dont let this keep your car on jackstands go drive it! i have used motors with twisted off intake bolts and they do just fine!
  20. sounds like a gl-10. if it has 4 headlights its 84 or earlier. 85 would be mpfi non turbo, 86 would be spfi, 87 and up will be most likely turbo
  21. use a brass wire wheel with a drill to clean up the carbon razor blade is fine to scrape away the graphite, the dimples are ok so long as the surface is flat, the dimples are more of a shadow from the gasket than an uneven surface razor blade(for gasket leftovers) and carb cleaner(for nasty grease) has always done me right
  22. try parallel parking a dolly it can be done! then do it un loaded:)
  23. sorry i cant help you with the solenoud part, but if you want to go with a WEBER you will need a hitachi manifold
  24. dont make wide turns, and especially dont back up with a loaded dolly! towed unlocked it does good, just dont try to exercise subaru turning radius with the rig. pretend you are driving something ill built with no turning raduis
