  1. look under the carpet of an xt and find mitsu logos on the electricals. i have seen mitsu stamps on engine belts, i think the xt6 uses a mitsubishi alternator. one example of a nissan part would be the COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR for the ecu
  2. cause he used an EA82 flywheel/clutch
  3. one more Q. how does the adapter bolt to the motor, are they recessed into the adapter itself? do the top bolts thread into the adapter, and do the bottom studs go thru the adapter, or thread into it?
  4. so the bottom studs from the motor line to the tranny the same? so that is ok from what i am reading. i made one but i centered everything on the input shaft and offset the studs. i didnt like how it torqued down. i used 3/8 aluminum and i had starter fitment issues. i wouldnt mind building another one for 30 bucks again, this time i know to use 12mm aluminum, and to take advantage of the bottom studs. i found that i needed no flywheel spacer, and the flywheel centers on its own anyway. i slotted the holes with a drill press, and cut my adapter with a JIGSAW i took mine apart, didnt like it, but i see that you did yours pretty much the same, and acheived success. congratulations on a working example! will this be the standard ej conversion?
  5. i think im gonna have to JUNK the ol trashwagon, it has served me well. at least i got ONE GOOD RUN with it having complete 4wd. the RX needs a motor, let myoss feece have the tranny and diff for the trashwagon 6, and i will use trashwagon 5's parts for a trash 3-door, yeah, a beefed up 3-door i can call an rx finally!
  6. there is no dual range auto tranny. a 5spd dual range will swap in with little mods. you will need the driveshaft, clutch/flywheel assy, driveshaft and diff for the swap. you will need the crossmember for an ea81 manual tranny. the shifter hole and tranny tunnel may need massaged a little. right now i have a dual range 5spd and an ea82 in my 83 wagon. but many a person has done the swap, let the questions fly!
  7. if youre in the market to buy a soob, and off roading is what charmed you, then you should consider looking for a dual range model. but if its scarce, might as well take whats there, any soob is better than no soob, and you could always put whatever soob pieces on whatever subaru. you could put a dual range trans in there if you know how to operate a wrench with no problem
  8. go back and tell them 4WD BRAT. i dont see how they missed that one. what you got was a 2wd rear bearing, and i dont think subaru would have made 2wd brat model.
  9. here it is "on paper" http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/subaru/service/glossary.htm
  10. tim the wagon is still in IOWA, contact subiemech85 about its condition, state of repair, as he has both cars. fix the turbo and change the oila nd she's good. "what if trashwagon 5 could be the next 2-door wagon?" if i could find a set of 2-doors then i honestly wouldnt be afraid to do it. the rocker is pretty concave at the b- pillar. lucky for the other side, those are doors i just put on. all the sheetmetal is "transferrable" to another part to be replaced. i dont know. i need to do something with all my stuff before the city of butler kicks me out of butler. tim, you should have been there it would have been good "follow up"! anyway i have court on monday, all of my court was pushed up to june, so i JUST got my "discovery motion" in the mail. i still have to be assigned a public defender to present my case. anyway the from the prosecutor says, plea bargain "could reduce his time from excess of 4 years to a maximum of no more than 15 months" i can't take that seriously
  11. i used a 3/8 aluminum plate, but after my trials i wish i used 1/2 inch, 12mm sounds appropriate. if the bolts will be 12mm wide, then the depth of the metal and threads is just enough. u used the full ea82 clutch and flywheel, the flywheel will fit onto the crank snout and the pilot holes will match. i elongated the holes on the flywheel, then fit it against the ej motor, then started what bolts i coulds, and poked with a dremel the other holes that needed touching. i used the flexplate washer from the automatic as a template. my drill bit had a tendenct to walk, so i had to use a bigger bit to finish. keep in mind from wha tit looked to me is the ej bolt pattern has no offset hole, they are all even, unlike the ea82. but the flywheel the way i did it will bolt to an ej on the outer diameter of the bolt holes and the ea82 on the inner diameter. since the crank snout aligns the bolt's job is just to torque it to the motor the crossmember bolts will align mostly, but you will hgave to slot the holes and or grind away the nugget on the motor mount. i managed to get the ej power steering lines to connect to the ea82 lines on the crossmember itself, i has to loosen the bracketry and tweak them a little. the ecu i cut out of the harness with about 10 inches of wire form the clips, then one by onbe wired up each component, making my harness, then solder, tape. the better schematics you have the better you will know whats' what. there will probably be a lot of dead end wiring that wont go to anything. does this car need to run, or just be put together? i went from a n ea82 trashwagon to a ej22 with full time 5spd and 5 lugs in a week. i got about 2 weeks in the harness. but i tool all mine apart before i got very far with it bewcause i came upon a turbo motor
  12. what specifically are you trying find with the engine codes? pretty much any subaru uses the same parts between model years, for example an intake gasket for an 73 brat fits a 94 spfi wagon try this for reference: http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/subaru/service/glossary.htm http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/subaru/service/service.htm
  13. i hear that the intakes can be bolted on 180 also. legos is right
  14. generally where there's donuts there's cops to!
  15. is trashwagon 5 done? i dont know. now its an excuse for a 2-door wagon. maybe i'll put the motor in the RX and call it a trash 3-door.
  16. do you have spark? the coil and the fuel pump work from a signal from the distributor. plug the green test clips under the dash together, and the fuel pump will cycle on and off, the coolant temp sensor for the ecu is a common nuisance, i have seen one for 17 bucks it was labelled a nissan part
  17. tom i got your beer:drunk: if you cant make it sunday how about monday? i'll go ahead and order the intake gasket for you.
  18. considering the motor has been swapped, it could have had timing belts installed, or front seal that would require taking the belts off, and its possible the mechanic lined up the belts wrong. how many times has a subaru broken a timing belt, to have some mechanic install new ones and tell you the car has bent valves and wont run right because he aligned both cams at 12:00 and the crank at 0 deg. you should check out the belt timing following this procedure http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/subaru/service/timingbelt.htm
  19. 33 will take you to 127 to go north. which way did tom say to go? he said he will meet you near bryan oh, on us6 as 127, about 20 min away.
  20. i have seen the 23 spline turbo axle, it has 3 bands and comes with 3AT turbo. its fatter around like the xt. so does this meen that turbo 25 spline doj and xt6 doj are the same also? i asked about 23 spline doj from turbo axles on legacy axles before, but no one knew. is it a secret?
  21. trust me the way i explained is the best way to go, as i have singled out these routes from multiple trips and multiple ways of going, i just say have a map so you can relate to the directions visually. i guess if you are meeting tom, just use my directions to van wert and 127 n. to bryan ohio. us6 goes to butler about 15 mi from there.
  22. oops my bad. maybe i should have responded to the other post instead!
  23. well there you go, that proves my theory. 5 lugs with a dual range was the idea were the doj's off a 3spd auto TURBO?
  24. find the thermoswitch on the radiator, then the blue clip it plugs into. those are the wires you wnt to short, or anywhere else in the schematic for the same wires. this is what we did to the rx, using speaker wire to a toggle in the car. on the trashwagon, i made a temporary fix bt jumping a wore from the yellow wire to the body, to gound out the fan and turn it on. and this way the fan goes off with the key. you may have read the arguement but what my example was is the same thing you are asking about.
