My next project car!
SOOBOUTLAW replied to SuperRallyRoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Is that the one on Craigslist? -
No fitting on this one. Got breather filters from Schucks. Looks like mushroom filters hooked up to the hoses.
-
there are no breather hookups on the air cleaner cover!
-
We're putting a Weber32/36 electric choke in Hatchy's rig. We are ripping all the emission junk off, and plugging whatever. What to do with the fuel return line? How bout the crankcase breathers, put filters on the valve cover ports?

I drove home on two cylinders from a blown HG once. Water sprayed out the tailpipe like a hose.

I went up the Mountain Loop Highway with my wagon and went past a no tresspassing stencil on concrete block up on a gravel road, got stuck good, then forest service guy comes by and asks if we're ok, then leaves, not even trying to get his "Exploder" to where I got stuck. Wimp.

F It. Motor Swap Saturday.
-
EGR seems to be hooked up fine. Dunno if it works yet, might swap off another motor I got laying around. The vac lines have been messed with. I rearranged some to where they should go, I hope, using reference off the other motor.

I have three vehicles, so three tanks. One vehicle has diff swapped out into another, so that'll be the easiest. Other vehicle needs seals on swapped diff, so I'll pull the tank when I pull the diff.

My EA81 won't run well for some strange reason. It doesn't want to idle or the rpms fluctate from sputtering to 3k, then sputter, then 3k. Fuel pump is good, just changed carb with no change in attitude. Blew out fuel lines, nothing. Any ideas?
-
How do you clean your dirty gas tank? I've just been draining the fuel and blowing compressed air through the lines. I'm thinking of removing the tank and really clean it out with kerosene.

Uhhhhhh... need to buy more cars for 'experimental use only":brow: .

I have this rear bumper that came with my '80 wagon, I think it's AM or homemade, but baby is SOLID! Backed into a tree stump with a bang, no damage except to the stump where the protruding hitch plate is. Never towed serious with it yet, but it's a cool bumper. -
The flares look like from a '90's Nissan truck.

Clutch Cable Snapped... Yikes!

Done that quite a few times. In the same car. Still got it. -
Just a little more rust than I thought...
-
I just picked up an "83 Brat with canopy, t tops and jumper seats for $900. Needs carb work and muffler, but it's in decent shape.

You don't wanna get caught messing with a hot car....possession of stolen property, even if you didn't jack it. -

How is your old motor doing
SOOBOUTLAW replied to 7point62fmj's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That is the first time I've seen anything about an engine piss test. -
I'd like to do that. Also, I would like to modify the body. Hatchback doors are exactly 12" longer than wagon doors, so I'm thinking of a two door wagon, flared fenders(all steel!), wide dished rims and fat street meats (no rubberband tires). T-tops.

I have this wagon I bought for $240 in January, borrowed the suspension and driveline for my trail rig. The front end is kinda mangled ahead of the strut towers. I want to cut it off and put a new clip on eventually, when I get a MIG. But, I don't want to stop there. I'm thinking of building a hot rod out of it... I wonder what Boyd Coddington would do to a Subaru:brow: .
