  1. Not sure there is actually any extra performance with a Weber but you will notice the better 'drivability'. It will certainly idle better and not require constant fiddling, unlike the Hitachi. Basically a Weber is 'set and forget'. Oh yeah, it will certainly sound better too, especially when the secondaries open!
  2. Hey 1000 Pistes, while I am sure we all appreciate that you need parts for your early Subaru it would have been better to start your own thread (in the historic parts section or members rides perhaps), rather than take over this one started by zacharywb. Most of the parts you are seeking do not interchange between coupe and sedan so I do not think Datsunrides will be able to help you.
  3. Because that is what Subaru Australia named them. They may have felt Brat was a negative term and would have hindered sales.
  4. Yep must be screwed in clockwise. You can damage the handbrake mechanism if you are trying to clamp it with force. The front mounted handbrake is the reason you have to screw the piston back into the caliper. Search for 'brake piston tool' on Google images and you will see the small cube shaped tool that can be used for this purpose.
  5. You have to screw the piston back into the caliper. Some people use pliers, others buy the small, box like tool available at most auto stores. You must screw clockwise while pushing down on the piston. Bleeder valve might need to be loosened too.
  6. Somehow I think a lot of us on here do!☺
  7. They are not the same, unfortunately. The boot is much larger on later calipers.
  8. No it is not possible to put EA81 heads on a EA71 block. The pistons are set further apart in the EA81 engine block. The EA81 heads you are referring to sound like the turbo heads. They were factory but only on the EA81T.
  9. I am in Australia and could help but would it not be cheaper to have one made up in Sweden? So Fredrik, is it not possible to get something made? Aust Post rates are usually not very good internationally...
  10. Lucy looks good! Interesting colour too, don't think we got that in Australia.
  11. Here is a shot from the 1977 Chicago Auto Show and both 'fonts' for Subaru are being used:
  12. You Sir win the prize! That particular Subaru font was only used on early gen 1 stage 1 models (and the 360?) - 1972 to 1977, although there was some overlap. After this time the font used became more square in shape and stayed the same through the early 1980s. I agree they are aftermarket but look to be of good quality. When you think about even the factory floor mats would have been manufactured for Subaru by an outside supplier.
  13. This is my understanding as well, any aftermarket listing for the 2 row radiator is incorrect and when the part arrives it will be 1 row only (although mine did come in brass at least).
  14. Yes I suppose I was referring to secondary crash safety. An Impreza with AWD and ABS would certainly be safer than the older Leone/GL models in terms of primary safety (ability to avoid an accident in the first place).
  15. The Impreza is not really that safe until the the late 2000 model. That one was designed with safety in mind from the outset, with things such as the much larger bodyshell and the extensive use of boron steel. The much heavier weight was also a result of the increased safety. Anecdotally, in Australia the 'jaws of life' tool used to cut open cars involved in accidents had to be redesigned thanks to the strengh of the boron steel used in the Impreza's B pillars.
  16. The comment you quoted was referring to a Leone/GL/Loyale photo that was posted on page 94 that was fitted with Lambo doors (and has frameless windows). Perhaps you are confusing Lambo doors with Gullwing doors?
  17. The bastard project has a listing on Bring a Trailer (BAT)...
  18. The colour looks like Capital Red #89 from the chips I have. And I think they are actually seat covers rather than the seats themselves?
  19. Very nice! I sorta like that half-vinyl roof thing going on. To my eyes (as an Australian) a distinctly American accessory! It should clean up very well. Congrats on the purchase.
  20. An EA82 transmission will fit if the body has been lifted but not if the Brat is stock. There are clearance issues between the steering and CV joints.
  21. It does belong here, as it's a first generation.
