  1. yea, wait for the money. Subarus are cheap as it is to lift...compared to full size pick ups(jeeps are pretty cheap tho..for the most part). Its not worth doing something half assed...do it right the first time. It'll be worth it, trust me.
  2. my rear camber is pretty faacked(on my impreza using outback struts). But i havent tried to get it aligned yet(i dont know how to do the rear). the fronts can come pretty close.
  3. some company does make carbon fiber armor for the newer wrx's. Primitive rally also does custom CF protection...the engine sump guard alone is about 700 i believe. You can also use that MDPE(medium density polyeurothene?) but they usually just rivot it to the underside?...not sure how to attatch it myself. With the manual trannies, no worries(alot less anyways).
  4. awsome job helping those jeepers out. When i go out with my bro's friends, i am always the first volunteering to get dirty to help someone else out which i hope if i ever need a yank one day...they'll be more willing to come out and do it.
  5. its hard to cover the tranny pan. The engine's oil pan and headers are easy to protect, but that tranny pan is just asking to get wacked/punctured. Even the fuel tank is easier to protect/
  6. the diff options are nice....but it doesnt mean squat to have good lsd's front and rear(cam or clutch pack) when the center diff is a weak viscous or even an upgraded viscous. I know cusco makes a 35/65 split tarmac center which is basiclli like welding the center diff...no diff action. MRT rally also makes a spool decive with the intention for turning the car rear wheel dive for the dyno and quite possibly "drifting" with the intention that one is going to remove the front axles. The best option for us imho is the factory dual range. Its a tranny with a lockable center...which is key. The trick/splice for the 4eat is nice...but in reality it is bunch of clutches locked up rather than something lockable...meaning it wasn't designed for it. That and the auto gets hot, its fluid pan is readily exposed(mine doesn;t look mint anymore) and i dont feel like running an external cooler for the tranny...making just another thing to break. I favor manual trannys offroad...in general, not just subaru specific. The auto does allow for more control over starts and throttle/brake manipulaiton. But i for one am willing to trade some of that for knowing if i go murk a mud hole...i dont have to worry about bashing the pan in on the tranny and not being able to make it out of the woods.(the north east has alot of mud).
  7. my auto has really bad shudder. I also enjoy driving a manual tranny. I am always worried when i go mudding that i am gonna bash the tranny pan in. It is one step closer to a dual range 5spd. I know i am gonna lose some benifits from the auto like torque multiplication...but for the time being i think its the best solution for ME outside of a dual range which is a whole nother bag of worms.
  8. i have called on several occations at different times during the day and i always have gotten the answering machine. Not a problem though, as i hope it means men at work.
  9. i have a 95 coupe, ob struts in the rear, forester struts up front, 27inch super swamper ssr's...soon to come:allied armarment lift kit + 5spd swap from a 97 OBS and herculinered interior.
  10. gotcha, i decided to just strip the parts of of the bare minnimum things i need and store everything in my car so atleast the junk car can get towed out and my car is still mobile.
  11. i paid via paypal relatively soon. Reguardless, i understand that i live on the east coast and you westcoasters...due to location, are bound to revcieve them first. Additionally, i order i think the only 2nd gen lift which might be the reason. Reguardless, my dad needs the driveway cleared out in order to finish working on his boat...and my car and the parts car i have are in the way. I am swapping in a 5spd into my auto and there is no point swapping the tranny and then going back in and installing the lift, considering mostly everything will be coming off to do the swap. thats the only reason for me being a pain in the rump roast.
  12. i think he meant flip flops....i hope.
  13. allied, did you guys send my lift out yet??? I need asap...need to clear out the driveway.
  14. I'm still in the driveway waiting for my lift to get here(group buy with allied armarment). I dunno how fast i can have er up. It should be here by tomorow or friday hopefully.
  15. same, i probably wont get mine for awhile, i live way out in NJ.
  16. I believe weight can be used too, since weight is mass x acceleration. The faster the mass accelerates, the more "weight" it will "have" persay. Roundeye, you are also correct as its kinetic energy is increased when its speed is increased. Its acceleration (both positive and negative) which ends up eating axles. Too much gas to fast or if traction suddenly become available and stops the spinning of the tire(s). The more mass(larger tires) creates more momentum(mass x velocity) which in turn adds more stress when the increased mass comes to a screeching halt. Rotation mass can be lessened with light weight wheels(forged aluminum, magnesium, etc) and tires, but generally, off road tires are heavy adding weight to the worst place, the outside of the circle.in return we recieve ruggedness needed to scale rocks. IMHO, gearing is probably everyones best bet if running extreme axle angles. Although its no gaurentee, if you want to keep Independent suspension(ie no live axles), it you're only feasable option. Gearing will allow one to control the speed/acceleration of the tires, and take more advantage of the engines powerband without the need to ram, ramp, speed, jump over and through obstacles. Crawling is a nice feature. I am definetly sure i already .
  17. they said near the end of the week. He usually posts around 6pm est. I'm hoping for an update later today. My dad is getting upset that i still have the parts car in the driveway.
  18. why would you want steelies over alloys?
  19. I used the springs(forester front a rear) and used forester struts in the front and legacy outback struts in the rear. I dunno if that is wrong but w/e. They still make noise, i havent figured that part out yet. And the rear forester struts are up in the garage attic in case of emergencies.
  20. Oh, i got the swampers to fit. Bought outback struts. Forester struts are for pussies. I am planning for the future. And i thought the older impreza and legacy alloys were 15inches.
