75subie replied to MachineAgeVictim's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
yea there shure is something out of place:lol: that beautiful wagon is not in my driveway:lol: -

Honda 71 AN600 4x4 Soobie style
75subie replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Subaru Transplants
i had something simular to one of those except it was a Z600 (sport model) that thing was awesome, i couldn`t imagine it with a sube motor:D my back window literally fell out like once a week, the rear wing was also the window seal, terrible design, but the n600s won`t have that problem. -
here are some more (almost finished) pics. after a ton of trimming and fitting, i have come to the conclusion this may never be a smooth operation without maybe putting spacers in so the grill is pulled out a little. it looks good anyway, and it does work:banana: i hope to finish this up soon:rolleyes:

Zefy, this thing is real bright, i lit it up w/o the headlights and it is actually brighter than both high beams combined:D Chris, gold actually sounds pretty nice, especially with black lettering:brow: Rex, i did mount it a little lower, only had to cut off the little tiny tip of the secondary hood latch, then it worked like a charm. the adjustment screw on the bottom of the light lined right up with the factory hole in the valance panel, so it still can be adjusted. thanks

80 hatches had ea71s but 81-88 4wd hatches were ea81

Rex, what do ya think? it was easier than i thought:D http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=56070

today, i finished mounting the third eye in my gen 1 (thanks to Rexspeedworthy for the idea) it went in very easilly after i took the sawsall and trimmed the bottom of it a bit, along with taking the electric motor off. after cutting out the center rad support, it slid right in, then i drilled a hole in the center top of the third eye frame, and utilized the stock hole/bolt located in the center of the top rad support. that worked perfectly and centered it well. then to hold the bottom stable, i used 2 zip ties which were tucked away. this should be ultra low maintanence too, because instead of the electric motor, i am using a cluch cable, with a nice chrome handle:D its a piece of cake to operate. i am still a little gun-shy about cutting up my grill, but i am going to do it in the next couple days, i will post pics too. what do you guys think??? Chevy/GMC 6 lugs. Would these fit?
75subie replied to NewDriverOlderRide's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i always wanted to put a set of these on a sube, but they are probly too wide: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/73-89-Chevy-4X4-6-Lug-Rally-Wheels_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43955QQitemZ8053220697QQrdZ1 -
The third eye is in!!!!
75subie replied to REXSPEEDWORTHY's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
thanks for the advice on this, i can`t wait to get it in:banana: -
thanks Rex, i will try to be a conservative cutter on the grill just incase. i think the cyclops that i have is the earlier model, and yours is the later model. on mine the motor sits really low and the the side, it just is way to big for the area in the brat, even with the a/c rad out. if i hack off the bottom section and use a choke cable, and cable, i think it should work well, and be efficient:D
-
i hope to do this swap too, good write up on it
-
hell yea brats are awesome, thats old news:lol:
-
yeah, i wish i could find another grill to buy just for insurance purposes, but i am going to take the time to cut this one up right. i hope it isn`t too brittle:-\
-
hey, watch it bro:lol: j/k that was my car, i restored it, and i parked it there, so what? i actually thought it was a nice pic
-
an svx with a 5sp m/t would probly be a rocket, and it would solve the a/t problems.
-
man, do your up your dream project car,you will be much happier. the svx will turn out to be a headache. i bought one with a bad tranny, put a tranny in it, and blew it again the next week. GD what 5 sp fits an svx??

reverse burnouts sound sweet:D i can`t wait:lol: first i have to fix my e-brake and take out the front axle shafts. i started on the third eye install today. i chopped out the center rad support, just to find out that the damn thing won`t fit with the motor anyway:mad: i am going to use a choke cable, and handle to open and close the door, and use the stock switch just to operate the light itself. i guess there are less things to go wrong now:-\
-
i always try to keep in mind what the car would be worth if i had to get out of it (i hate loosing money:mad: ) usually a gl 4wd wagon will bring $1500 tops with 200k, BUT since you sound like you plan on keeping this car, and you are already into it for over 4k, then you might as well finish the project.just my 2 cents, Jon

im now BROKE, but i got a new ride
75subie replied to MilesFox's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
got any pix, Miles? so this one won`t get any trashwagoneering? 20 years and 300k? i have a hard time holding onto a car for 6 months and 20k:lol: NICE SCORE MAN!!
