  4. i started my third eye project today:D made a wiring harness from scratch, and after alot of wiring, i decided to use the stock center lamp switch, just to run lamp itself, and another toggle switch to open the door. so the wiring is all set, tommorow i am going to chop the rad support out, and bolt the cyclops in, then plug and play:D oh, anybody got an extra quad headlight gen 1 grill incase i mess it up cutting the hole for the cyclops:-p :-\ pics to come
  5. did you say yours was lowered by taking the front strut coil springs completly out, and cranking down the rear torsion bars all the way? i am thinking about lowering mine in the next couple days. today i did a little work on her, took off the bumpers, and straightened out a few things, but i hope to do a little more this week. i am wondering if it is worth switching out the standard ea71 for the higher compression ea71, or if i should just leave the standard motor in there and add the weber, ect., ect. also going to add a third eye, and keep the roof spoiler on it. man i have brat mod fever:clap:
  6. that really is freakin amazing!! if it failed because of rust 13 years ago:eek: there must not be much body left on it:lol:
  7. Sams club sells nice snows pretty cheap:D well, they were like $38 each when i got them 2 months ago.here is a pic:

  9. here is a pic of rusty jones himself:
  10. i wonder if it would be possible to fab something up without pulling the tranny? i am considering this mod, just for to have something different then most cars.
  11. i wonder if you could wet sand them, maybe with lik 550-650 grit sand paper? that way you could polish them afterwards, and it would cut down the scuffs.
  12. sweet rims! imagine if you had to find those center caps:eek:
  13. that is a highly modified ea81 (engine) i`ve talked about it with Chas.
  14. yea, a toyota p/u rack would probly be pretty close.
  15. now i know why i have these pics in my favorites! here is the brat pics: http://community.webshots.com/album/302432023YUcDSD
  16. YES! every car i have owned with rusty jones had rust:mad:
  17. Rusty Jones is just a brand of undercoating they used in the 70s and 80s
  18. man, i`m glad to hear you got your brat back! looking forward to seeing it when it is done. so you are going ea81 this time? i am going to build up my high comp ea71 and come down and race you lol:lol: RWD would be sweet too, now you`ve got me thinkin:rolleyes: we should make a group of high preformance gen 1`s. i know we have you, me, and Garner:brow:
  19. i have one on my brat! (rusty jones sticker) i will send a pic to you tommorow.
  20. thanks for the ideas! i might actually try bolting it together (yup, still don`t know how to weld:lol: ) 1" square tubing should be strong enough
  21. anybody ever build or consider building a ladder rack for a brat? any pics? i am considering making one, it would be pretty cool to have the extra space when picking up wood, or hauling a row boat. any ideas? i wonder what kind of metal to use, i guess square tubing would work. here is a quick pic of what i am thinking, exept it would be on a gen 2:brow:
  22. yup, pull harder, mine was stuck too
  23. thanks alot GD, that makes me feel safe while driving my brat:lol: it was a quick fix, that works well. i guess i`ll try wiring it in somewhere else.
  24. just wire a universal 12v fuel pump up so it is on constantly, thats what i did on my brat. once the fuel bowl fills, the pump stops pumping, then when it needs more fuel, it pumps in some more. i wired mine right up to the coil so it comes on when i turn the ignition.
  25. thats probly the best route, take the insurance money, do a backyard fix, and drive it around with the salvage title. book on these old subarus usually isn`t high, the ebay market usually is though. book value on a brat in exellent shape is around $1500, but go on ebay and try to find a exellent brat for under 3800 or so:eek: i wish insurance companies went through ebay pricing:rolleyes:
