so EA82 front suspension it is then...

replace side windows with lexan?or remove them completely? remove headliner, carpet, plastic bumper covers(better is run steel bumpers-but that is a weight penalty. remove fenders remove grill remove emblems and badges and trim run hood pins?cut some of the support structure for the hood away, hell remove hinges and replace with hood pins instead. *KEEP the cowl panel at the bottom of the front window.Otherwise the plastic mounts for the wipers get brittle and they break* if its offroad only, feel free to remove taillights, mirrors, and mud flaps remove any non essential brackets.IE there are some brackets for holding the plastic inner liner in place for the front fenders.remove liner, remove brackets,etc...

right now the firewall is the rear of my front fender...

When fitting larger tires with a minimum of extra lift, is it A: better to cut out the fenders and reweld them to get the clearance. Or is it B: better to bust out a 10 lb hammer or bigger and vent your frustrations out on the fenders? I have 235/75/15 on it now with a 2" suspension lift, but I found some 31X10.50X15 mudders for 20 bucks. Two of them even look brand newish... *Evil laugh* HA HA HA HA HA!!!

those tires look a little small *hint hint*

*read upside down* This end up

ooh fancy!

if you want a measurable effect re locate the battery to trunk.it will help a bit with nosing into the mud.it has been said that moving that 60+ LB chunk of lead to the trunk is the equivilant of moving the engine 9" back-weight balance wise..

Go with the one out the GL.it has a lower low range.Although with a EJ22.I doubt that you would even need low range to spin the 27" tractor tires.I had an EA81 with tractor tires about that size.It went everywhere except snow...but the EA81 didn't have the power to spin the tires in the mud.press the gas more and the car just goes faster through the mud. with that being said,it might be best to cut/bash your fenders to fit the tires, then see how she does :burnout: :burnout:

Oh,the lever effect.Ok.So I need softer springs. Ok so I was planning on putting EA82 axles, hub and struts under there with hybrid EA/EA82 control arms.So I will end up pretty much swapping my front suspension over to EA82...sense the Ea82 is FWD, if I use the FWD springs that should help right? Are FWD vs 4wd EA82 front struts different? edit: it would seem that 4wd struts have their spring perches welded up higher. So I will need to find some 4wd struts.Talk about a hybrid vehicle: Ea81 EA82 axles EA82 hubs EA82 4wd struts with EA81 tophats and FWD Ea82 springs EA81/EA82 lower control arm EA82 outter tire rods/EA81 inners.. Just a thought:How much height will I loose if I run 2wd springs?

no swaybar. that was the first to go.why would the blocks limit travel?the strut is the same as before, just spaced 2" down..

I tested my car on an RTI ramp yesterday and I went up 34" which translates to about a score of 350.One thing I noticed was that at normal ride height I have NO UP TRAVEL with either front strut. I have about 5 In of down travel but no up travel. So on the ramp my front tires didn't tuck, the rears did but the front's didn't move up at all. I tested the suspension today with my floor jack.decent down travel but no up travel. whats wrong with this picture? also would it be possible to clock the torsion bar down and set the ride height where it sits now with the torsion bar not cranked up? so right now Im running a 2" block on top of the front struts and the torsion bar cranked up in the rear.

Im gonna take a guess here. Based on the fact that: you cut the rear of the hatch out, You have lots of 1.5 DOM tubing supposedly involves a tubing bender, I am going to say your building a twin a arm rear suspension. If I am right, How are you planing on connecting the rear hub to a twin a arm setup? either that or you are swapping in a vw swing axle setup. or you lost you mind and decided to put a 4 link solid rear axle under there.Although that wouldn't require cutting out the floor.

informing us of the the vehicle might help in answering your question.

lost key no spear any ideas how to get started??
Uberoo replied to 88gl_kody's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if all else fails you can break the steering lock and jumper the distributor and coil if its carbed. or you could do the same but connect wires together on the switch and see if you get lights and ignition...But an old worn out key from an old subaru-nissan-toyota might work. -
Interesting choice of lure.I wasnt aware that lifted subarus attracted fish...I may have to try that next time I go fishing..

I have an EA82 FWD wagon that I could buy for really cheap to use as a parts vehicle. So I was thinking of stuffing the EA82 front suspension under my EA81 offroad toy. I was thinking of something like this: lengthened EA81 control arms EA82 axles EA82 struts with EA81 top hats EA81 hubs lengthened ea81 tie rods any idea how the camber will be with that setup? Now I just have to wait for the field the EA82 is in to thaw out enough to drive a vehicle out there... *note* it would be nice to push the tire forward, but I already run a 2" lift on top of the strut. So I image that the axle would be pretty strained by then.2" offset down and 1 1/2 offset forward...

any other places that are kinda fun?
-
its a two hour drive to get there.I can't really just go wheeling that far away... not like the woods 20miles from my house...feeling bored?Hop in the car and go...not so much when it comes to drives like that. however I might go play up there.Roughly how much snow is there?Theres just enough snow up the mountains here that my subaru could have some problems, but not enough for anyone else to play..or so Ive been told.
-
I suppose it would probably be more like see if they will heading there then I could head up kinda stuff. so in your opinion is there anything up there worth the drive?
-
Any one been out there?I was thinking of heading up there sometime in march or something like that. Are there any technical trails or what not to play on or is it all flat land for doing donuts on like the videos suggest. Anyway if I was to head up it would be cool to have a bunch of rigs.So I would probally invite the mountain explorers 4x4 group to come out and play.It would be awesome if some of the local subarus could come out and play though...

sounds like your timing belt jumped a tooth.try pulling the covers off and then check to make sure that the marks on the cam sprockets all line up to where they are supposed to.
