  1. Thanks I will read the links to see if there is any help there. I would MUCHL prefer to just move the SPFI over to the EA81, but I cant do that I think in California... I want to get the Brat back on the road as soon as I can, but the carb is pretty well ruined with the usual loose throttle shaft, as is every one I find in the junkyards..which isn't many. One day I might want to go the EJ route, but the wiring seems a huge pain in the neck on such a swap. Of course the SPFI swap over might be just as bad, I do not know yet..
  2. Anyone from the board here deal with taking a Gen II Brat, or something with the EA-81 and pass the Smog Referee with just the SPFI swap, or have to replace the entire engine? I just want the reliability of the SPFI, but would rather not have to deal with the entire engine swap. As I recall isn't the EA-82 prone to issues anyways compared to the EA-81? Again this is in California, so I have to deal with the smog BS. The car in question is a 1987 Brat.
  3. Well I had a friend rebuild the carb with a kit from Napa recently, but I'm pretty sure there was nothing in the kit for the throttle shaft/bushings, but I will check with him after work. I have thought about the upgrade to SPFI, but I am horrible when it comes to dealing with rewiring a car, so I do not think that is in the lineup for the moment. I admit with carbs I am a bit uneducated, are the Throttle bushings in the carb to the throttle base? Would the base need to be fixed or the entire carb on the CA model of the Hitachi? Where would I even find just the throttle shaft/bushing/bearing in order to get it fixed? And yes, 450 is alot cheaper, I would jus need to make sure I ordered the right one from them. The website no longer even lists carbs in the searches.
  4. First thing is first I live in Sacramento, CA I HAVE to pass smog, I can not use a weber. That said, I have been having idle issues with my 87 brat, and took it to a mechanic today. I was told the throttle shaft/bushings were bad and the carb needs a full rebuild pretty much. He then quoted me around 850 for this.. I would like to know first off, is that about right for a full rebuild of a hitachi carb, and second is there any place reliable to get a reman carb from and just swap it out myself? Thanks.
  5. I maybe a little late to the party, but when I put an aftermarket Oil Pressure guage on my brat, I needed an adapter as well. I used a part ment for Air tools. Just go to your local home improvement/tool shop and find the matching adapter. Worked like a charm, and no leaks.
  6. Congratulations, that almost looks like mine.
  7. Hey those are some nice looking Solar panels..how much where those to put up and how much power did you get off of them?
  8. Check out http://www.superbrightleds.com they have LEDS specifically for Dashes in automotives. They just twist and lock in as do your current ones.
  9. Odd, under IE and Firefox their website works, up untill the place your order. Anyone else having issues ordering from them?
  10. Hey there, ya got it smogged first time with some help. Thing kept trying to jump off the dyno when they went into third gear.
  11. Wow I need to read the forums more...got the Brat running and forgot to read here for a couple months! Im Sacish too, Rancho Cordova area, though still working on the brat, trans has been leaking around one of the senders. Anyways, if its Sac local area, I could make that with the Brat maybe, depends where an when. Though I still need to show my Brat to TSJ since we both got em from the same guy. Jurrel
  12. Thats it, thank you. The person in question mentioned you would know how to fix it. Thanks!
  13. It's me again... Glad to see the board is up and running again! I have a1987 Brat, and at this time it is running well thanks to help from TheSubaruJunkie. However I have the EGR light on, and no codes in the ECU. Someone had said they thought that it was a milage trigger. Anyone know about this or how to reset it? Thanks!
  14. Okay I have a stock 87 brat, with no lift. I am looking at the 6 lug conversion abit and was wondering, what size tires would fit on a stock ride brat? I was kind of looking at the 205x50x15s. That gives me a .5% speedo change and the diamater of the tire is about .1" smaller then stock. But if I can/should go larger with the stock ride height, please let me know whats the biggest useable, this will be for a street brat, little offroad.
  15. Are you still doing the custom 6 lug hubs for 210? If so I maybe interested in a couple of months.

  16. I am sure it is still to early, but any more word on these adapters?
  17. Heh so he's sold another one! Thats the gent I got my 87 Brat from I believe. He had the rims too, nice rims, I just didn't have the extra money at the time. Glad to see it made it to another home. Oh and you dont have to smog it if you cant drive it..Just register it PNO, and you can get the title done. Worry bout the trans and registration later
  18. Well I read that you never want to reuse the spring pins, also with the shape these were in, I donno if I would want to. I found a place online that has alot more brat parts then the local autoparts stores so Ill order from them. Thanks for the idea though, I did order a punch too, last one I punched out with a nail Im hoping I would have to replace the axles for a while at least. Thanks though again.
  19. I am mating back the front axles to the transmission, but one of the old Spring pins looks like it is bent and will not go in. Long story short, where can I buy new spring pins? Napa, Kragens and Autozone say they do not sell them. So where oh where can I find spring pins? Oh also I may need a new stud for the exhaust, where would I find those too?
  20. Thanks everyone for your help with the issues on my 87 brat's ignition. Turns out the Ignition module was going out. I just replaced it today and it fired right up, nice and strong! I love this board and everyone on it. A lot of great information here. Thanks again! Now, to put the rest of it back together, so I can get it back on the street and out of PNO.
  21. Ahhh okay thanks, I dont have the exhaust hooked up yet, so that explains why I couldnt find where to plug it in.
  22. Anyone know what this is for? Again I have a 1987 Brat, it came with no Trans, and parts of the engine disconnected. This looks like a sensor, but I have no idea to what. It is on the passenger side of the car, stretching roughly half way across the engine bay. Who knows what this is for?
