  1. ah, i see man, i will have to split another transmission i have, see whats what, and will look into some older nissans, would you specify any particular one? such as shape and model, or is it you just know somin about?
  2. na man, i got ya 100%, it has been a concern of mine, and something i will attend to in the near future, just wanna get it back on the raod, to sort out any teathing problems with the engine, got any intial ideas on a solid RWD conversion? could i do somin with the original trans?
  3. well, im bored, so here is a complete spec list and stages of build of my truck so here it is taking shape now, my truck, finally getting some power! started off as a standard EA81, single hitachi carb power truck, found on ebay UK in mint condition, which has now changed drastically over the past two years, and yet to change more yet! here is how its been for the last year odd, with a few small alterations here and there after this piccy was taken the love of old skool rally cars and AE86 and the like drift cars and the like, inspired me to modify the thing that i love, and all i have ever wanted, i love imprezas and all that, but i have fallen big time for the EA's in the last few years! hence the changes! so after a spec list including: -subaru 'lowbar' rollbar -2 maxtel 100W lights -4 55W fog/driving lights -Custom made tonnou cover -Cherry bomb 3" straight through back box -Facet competition fuel pump -K&N style breather filters -high voltage coil -armtech electronic rev limiter -52mm tachometer -52mm oil pressure guage (both in a pillar mount) -rally flaps -K&N air filter -A bar instead of bullbar -3rd brake light -weller style, white 8 spoke 16x6 rims, running yoky 205/45/16s -sparco sprint 5 buckets -lowered 40mm all round -sparco rally steering wheel -bumper bumpettes removed -tinted rear lights and indicators -sub woofer and some decent components its turned out as it is now after much buggering around with front driveshafts, i gave in, and now run RWD perminently, and this is how its gonna stay! hence the want to make it a more performanced based truck then came the time for some power the new long block the parts altogether, which include SUB 4 dualport heads (ready to go off and be machined) and the matched weber IDF 40's no more engine! lol all the parts again the old engine! the underneath, with the crossmember alteration to fit the extra exhaust due to the dual ports rear port location (not finished, just a basic shape) all in all, the engine has -highlift custom cam from SUB4 -Dual port heads, skimmed for compression uprate -Twin 40 IDF webers with custom inlet manifolds -4 branch custom stainless exhuast manifold and alterted crossmember -high quality bearings, seals, rings all renewed throughout with a brand new old pump -lightend and rebalanced flywheel -SUB 4 water circulatory system more to come so damn soon! including front spillter, adjustable shocks and coilover conversion within the next few weeks!
  4. wow, thats a well smart lookin engine, i like lol, looks like you got all the bits nicely as well, the EJ route seems easier than ever now, most of the parts are off the shelf! haha! keep up the good work chap!
  5. nice horns man! lol well, the engine build is well under way, engine came out today, stipped all the bits off it a want, such as the dual port heads, and alll that shizzle, and the new block with the uprated cam was put together as well, should be all in and running by the end of this week, all finished off with a full stainless, 1 1/2 - 2 - 2 1/2 exhuast system with 2 boxes, should be alright! haha! piccys of the progress will be posted tomoz
  6. sounds nice man, got some piccys? im really interested in the custom camber plates, got some piccys of that as well? and any info of where they came from etc?
  7. i was gonna say, this sound very interesting! EA82 1.6! lol, first i heard, i will ask a few of the old boys who used to work at the dealerships when the old skool stuff were about
  8. maybe a little heat? have you got some new bushes to go in?
  9. yes, i like this! lol yeah, gotta have the lifts, big chunky monkey workbench with a henchy vice on it, for all that pursuading you might need to do! a selection of large hammers, arc and mig welding, gas axe, some big spanners and you should be able to take on most things (this is what happans when your trained, and then work as a agricultural mechanic!) if in doubt, bloody well hit it harder! hahahha!
  10. well, after trawling ea81 rebuild kits, i were bound to come across some EA82 stuff, hope this can be of help? http://www.rpmmachine.com/engine-rebuild-kits-subaru.shtml http://www.rpmrons.com/Subarukits1.html just a quick 5 mins search! they look to be you can get the parts from them still
  11. ah good point man, could you not grind the cam to help this then? i should be alright then, i got the custom bit covered! lol
  12. yes, i like it, what did you do to get 11.5:1? massive head skim or put diff pistons in or a combination? sorta thing i would like, comp like that, but you can only skim heads once! lol! the valves, how much bigger is that than standard then?
  13. the EJ swap is probably better, but this lad has already had the heads done, so hes kinda got into it now, if you can get more lift on the cam, then you should be on more of a winner anyways than standard, do delta improve lift at all, or just shift the torque/hp around?
  14. there is a reason for this pricing, and you got in the reliablilty terms, each and everyone of rons RAMengines are balanced, and blueprinted, as well as using THE best conditions to build in, and using the most expensive parts, such as forged pistons, and in house built dual port heads, and in house built injection systems, not forgetting the redrive units as well, plus ECU, so theres quite alot to add up there, to make it the price it is. just read the blurb, thers alot of work that goes into one engine! most of which, you could do yourself. subaru as said, built the dual carb option with an improved cam, and got 108, out the factory, and they need to build stuff thats gonna last, not blow up after 30000 miles, so building it stronger, with higher compression figures and and improving the fuelling more so, i dont see why you couldnt gain another 12 hp on a factory conversion. I think maybe something to consider, is the octance rating, if thats a contributing factor? it says that it can run 100 LL avgas, well, if so, 99 is obtainable in the country from the pump, and avgas is like 108 or somin as i say, if this a factor, i dont know, as i dont live in america, so dont know what comes off the pumps usually.
  15. standard power out of the UK spec was 87, so im sure that 120 is more than reasonable, the US figures dont even match up right to mine, i put it on the dyno, and after 14 years, according to the U.S figures, its only lost about 5hp, which i know is pretty impossible!
  16. lol, i get used to looking at dual ports though! lol and lighten up the flywheel! mines in the shop now having a kilo or two taken off it, whack a bit of higher octane fuel in it, not sure what else really, unless you go injection, or forged pistons from RAMengines or some dualports from them, they would be quite a nice upgrade, just need to sort out thermostat somehow
  17. im sure with a bit of manifold adapting, you could mount a pair of DGAV or similar webers, or some twin 40's like IDF's or somin, get the cam done, and a decent exhuast, dont see why somin like 120 aint in sight?
  18. no matter how much i looked on rockauto, i couldnt find the bastard! lol! the guys who are doing my engine, forwarded me to this site actually, and we couldnt find it, it only seems to be in the 1986 year, grrrrrr, why they have to make it so difficult! only 2 left at rock auto, jesus, these are getting thin on the ground! i thought they would be easy to get hold of! many thanks guys, i should have one on the way, then the dual port, twin webered beast can be put together AT LAST!!!!!!
  19. Right, the search is still on, these guys are being gay, and wont ship outside the US or canada, i dont know, pain in the arse! can anyone put me forward to another site or contact? :-\
  20. lol, errrm, maybe....cam as well, lightened flywheel perhaps, maybe some twin 40 IDF webers.....
  21. i cant find one properly for sale anywhere, i dont care where it is! everywhere is sold out, or obsolete, can anyone help me find a site or if they have one?
  22. ah you see, this is the thing, the UK ones i did think ran higher horsepower, like 85 standard or somin, i put it down to low octance being 95 here and high octance being at the most 99, and us is like 87-92 (i dont know, cause i dont live there!) so when i have seen factory figures saying below 100lb/s torque, its like AY?! but i got 100 and its detuned over time anyway! lol put some race fuel in it, that will sort it! lmao!
  23. wow, the chance to get EA82 in the UK, i think ive only seen it once! and that was non turbo i would get hold of the engine if you can anyways especially if you can get the rest of the bits to go with it, theres somone with a truck bout 15 miles away from me with a EA82T conversion, it was on ebay a few years back keep hold of it, and i might have it off you one day!
