A big, long, scary 2000 mile trip.
Well, from Medford I would suggest taking I-5 to Shasta and cut off of Hwy 89. That will take you to 44 then 36 to Susanville. At Susanville hop onto 395 to Reno. I've driven that route many times. Look like you can take 66 from Medford through Klamath Falls. I've been that way too. Very scenic! If you happen to have car problems in Reno there are a few of us on the board that can lend a hand.

Carburetor gasket failed?

Carburetor gasket failed?
If a carburetor gasket failed would it let coolant leak into the intake causing symptoms of a head gasket leak? I ask cuz I installed a used gasket on my carburetor just to get the car running so I could move it. The car has sat for a few months. I started it up and about a gallon of coolant shot out the tail pipe along with a huge cloud of white steam. Also it turned my oil into a milkshake. Is it my carb gasket or did the HG go? Thanks for the help,

is it a 1600 or 1800??
But do what Qman says and look at the stamp. The motor could have been swapped out at sometime. Or Carfax could be wrong.

Carfax says 1800 FWD DL.

95 Legacy EJ22 swap into 90 Legacy
Thanks a lot 91 Loyale! That clears it up. I'll look into the intake swapability. For the exhaust ports I can just use the 95 exhaust system right?

95 Legacy EJ22 swap into 90 Legacy
I have a 90 Legacy in excellent condition except for the drive train. I have a wrecked 95 Legacy with a good engine and tranny. Would I see any problems with swapping the motor? Looks like I might have to change out the intake and then the rear diff to keep the ratios the same??? Any advice is welcome. Thanks,

EJ 22 into Wonder Brumby (1986 Brat)
That’s a really great swap. I had no idea a EJ22 could be converted to a distributor set up. What a way to cut down on all the computers and wiring mess! Anyone know what distributor I could use in the states? EA82 one or something? Or can I even mount a distributor in a EJ22 from the states? Looks good! Keep up the good work,

90 Loyale making wierd noise at 1500 RPM
Is it more like a rattling sound? If thats the case it could be your heat shields on the exhaust?

Whats your favorite EA82? 86-94
The ea-82 body style is my favorite soob. My favorite year would be 88-89. I like the green dash lights and the redesigned steering wheel for 88 in the GL's. And you can't go wrong with FI. Funny thing is I have never owned a 88 or 89. Just 85, 86, 87 and 91. Go figure! I have 3 85's and 86's right now and I don't like the front bumper look at all. ick! Subaru really cleaned it up in 87. Oh and in 89 the touring wagon was available! Love that bubble roof! And your right the Loyales are just a DL with power windows and locks and composite headlights. As for longevity in the turbo... stay away from the auto's. My 87 was a turbo auto and it just loved to eat transmissions. When it was stolen from me it had 200k miles and I never touched the engine.

I'm not sure what they have overseas. But here in the states a 1986 ea82 would have a Hitachi 2bbl.

Massive oil smoke cloud after right hand 270 degree sweepers. No other times.
Is your 87 FI? Maybe this service bulletin will fix your problem. I had a huge smoke screen on my 91 Loyale. I installed this fix and the problem went away. Maybe it will help your 87 if its FI? http://home.comcast.net/~c.moe/pvc_mod.pdf
