Car repairs alwas seem to go that way. If its not one thing its another. I was working on my cooling fan yesterday and I crossed a wire and things went POP! Now my wagon wont run. PnP does cut there converts. I found that out the hard way last year when I went to pull a cat. I ended up at the sparks pnp yesterday. Its sad to say the ea81's are getting harder and harder to find. Seems to be mostly ea82's and Legacys now. Good luck on finishing your hatch.(and the closing of your house) And I look forward to your write up.

Being a gen 1 owner for a few months.... I can say there were really good offroad, even with 155 R13 tires and single range. A few things that kinda annoyed me is the gas filler is on the drivers side and the lights don't turn off with the ignition! Waiting in line at the gas station while all the big chevys and fords filled there tanks was irritating. And I drained the battery more then once cuz I was so used to the headlight cut off ignition. haha

I did that mod also. One of the most useful mods I have done. I would load up 800lbs+ in the back with out hitting the stops. Here is my ex loyale next to the hatchback....

I had the same problem with my 84 GL wagon. Mine would be more like a BANG when I would hit a large hole. I replaced the rear shocks and the sound went away.

Get smaller tires????? hehe

I just wanted to update everyone on my progress with the 1998 Legacy tranny install. In two words.... IT WORKS!!!! it is possible to use a 2nd gen Legacy tranny in a 1st gen Legacy!!! WOOHOO!

Actually a 96 auto tranny will work just fine. I just installed a 1998 Legacy auto tranny into my 1990 Legacy. Only problem I ran into was the speedo cable needs to be changed out. The 98 comes with a electronic speedo and the 90 is a cable. I haven’t figured that one out yet. But the connectors and all the wiring is the same. Good luck!

The wind has been killing me. I cant seem to get anything done. I have a transmission to get installed.. stupid weather. Nice house. The best thing about it is your garage!!!!!
