Well in my experience the ea81 is a much more reliable motor then the ea82. If I were to attempt a EA81-82 swap I would just jump in and install a EJ22. That swap would be worth the time just because of the power gain. With a FI on the EA8,1 the motor would just about be unstoppable! I can't wait to try the mod myself!

Well your not too far off. I would have the owner change the oil, poor some new gas in and change out the PCV. They are never going to sell it unless it will pass smog anyway. Your HC are nothing to what my 78 Brat was. HC=3710!

I'm in the middle of converting a LSD to 3.9. It's gonna be installed on my 84 wagon. I'm doing it for the snow and rain traction. Not much for off roading but I'm sure it will help. When I get it all done and installed I'll let everyone know my outcome! You can pick up a LSD at the local junk yard. But they are hard to come by. If you find one GRAB IT.
