  1. a harmonic balencer can also be a seprate shaft, i know the 3300 GM V6's used a harmonic balencer that balenced it all out it was a shaft driving off the cam i think, but somehow it went like backwards or somthing and had wieghts on it to counter act the off balence situation on the 90* V6
  2. when i had mine out, the inlet on the top was mangled to hell, like some1 crushed it then attemped to bend it back, im surprised it seals, so its not worth that, plus i want a 2 row radiator anyway
  3. i belive EA81's had that kinda hose, mabye try one of thier lower hoses
  4. i do have an EA82T i went up a real steep hill and the temp was at 1/2 and as i started up the hill it crept up, as i got to the middle of the hill it flew up to 3/4 and stayed, and i pulled off and let the car idle for a minute and shut it off, let it cool, and coasted back down the hill home. Uhg im getting that 85$ 2 row tomarrow, i have to... since it seems under 100$ for a 1 row is a good deal, a 2 row for 85$ must be a pretty nice deal then.
  5. i would suggest getting a junkyard transmission, they can 100-300$ depending on mileage. Dont bother overhauling it, thats way more than the cars value
  6. bah the one at the yard was terrible, my other yard has 2 brand new 1 rows for 95$ and another has a 2 row, 90 day warrenty radiator for 85$. Does that sound like an OK deal or am i getting hosed, i cannt afford 130-140$ for a brand new one :-\
  7. oh, well mines an 86, i thought u just had to disconnect the vacuum advance line, where are the green connectors, i dont see them.... sorry for the bit of a hijack, but you might need that kinda info too! lol
  8. i have the same problem, if my disty isnt advanced all the way or almost all the way it runs poor and has no power what so ever.
  9. alright, ill try the radiator. Im not sure on the cat, it doesnt glow and ill hit it to see if it rattles i guess. Having the timing fully advanced and not a single bit of knock is a tad worrysome, and on regular, lol. Im gonna fill it up with premium and get it properly timed and check all my vacuum lines.
  10. ok, when its running, no bubbles what so ever, i ran the car and reved it with the cap off when its cold or cool, today i had the cap off till it hit almost 1/2 on the gauge and not a single bubble, and it doesnt boil or bubble when the temp stays lower than 3/4. The only bubbles i get is when it hits 3/4 and i turn the car off and its boiling. Im getting a new radiator tomarrow, i found some big cold spots on it. the Rebuilt engine has like 22-25k on it. when idling and driving around town usually the temp stays fairly low, its going 35-60 that it starts to climb, or hard driving. So im gonna get a j/y radiator tomarrow and hope for the best. I can also hear the coolant wooshing in the heater core, i need to find a nice steep hill and burp it.... I really wouldnt be surprised if theres some vacuum leaks, i definatly need to check on it, it hesitates pretty badly but i thought it was most likley the Coolant temp sensor since mines hella corroded but im waiting on a new plug to splice in.
  11. ok new thermostat does the exact same thing, and it got to 3/4 of the gauge and i open the hood and the coolant in the radiators bubbling like its boiling. overflow tank is full, and has a bubble or 2 every so many seconds, im guessing from the boiling coolant, but im not losing ANY coolant at all, and its not burning it, its not being pushed out the overflow or anything, what the hells going on!
  12. i like it, it needs a grill but its cool, seems about the condition my RX is in, some rust, Some clear coat peel, junk like that.
  13. alright, my EGR solenoid is broken. My Cam timing is dead on, but my Disty timing is fully advanced or the car runs like ************ for some reason. My coolants all new, but the car sat for like a year so i see what ur saying about the clogged radiator. my fluids 50/50. My exhaust im defintly not sure on, the Cat still says SUBARU on it, lol so it could be original, with 258k on it
  14. no not again, lol, im saying originally, sorry, confusing i guess, but its a strange happening, id pour coolant in, and id actually come right back out as i was pouring it back in right below the pump.
  15. i just did it with the engine in, and im 16, and have never worked on a subaru, and it took me a weekend and it started with the first turn of a key. Take out the fans and radiator and youve got plenty of room
  16. ok i got a thermostat today, a superstant one, and i still need the water outlet gasket, they didnt have it in stock, but napa does, so im going there tomarrow
  17. yea tonight i idled it for about 10 minutes to warm up and it sat right above cold, but nearly the first 30 seconds of driving the needle started rising pretty quickly to 1/2 and i didnt go too hard on it to see if it went any higher
  18. lol yea it was the water pump gasket, lol, it exploded!
  19. well give it awhile, drive it abit, could be burning of residual coolant
  20. how many vacuum lines?? uhhh way way way to many to count, lol, its like a speghetti feed from hell in there.
  21. oh and now my drive belts squeak, what the hell, they are really tight, could they be too tight or somthing, or could the coolant that got on them cause it, what can i do to make them stop!!
  22. the engine has 25k on it, could the headgaskets go running it at 3/4 of the gauge often? ill go with the Thermostat and try a different radiator. so running leans probably not going to make this thing run that much hotter right. Where do you guys find 2 row radiators for cheap?
  23. I swear im starting to regret ever buying this thing. it runs hot, and iv replaced the radiator cap, water pump, and hoses. The gauge says like 3/4 hot and its got heat blowing out. But the hoses in the car arnt THAT hot, and its not boiling over or anything. It smell hot tho, its not using any coolant. Could i have a bad thermostat? Radiator? Mabye even my a/f mixture is off from my coolant temp sensor causing my car to run lean and get hot? i pulled out one of the front plugs and they were coverd with white. it only gets hot when driving it. not when idling. highway it gets 3/4 of the gauge easy with the heat on high. What about air bubbles?? Im getting soooo mad with this car.... Also does the electric fan for the a/c even do anything for cooling ,or just come on for the a/c? cause i have mine removed at the moment. Also i notice it sometimes has a tiny little backfire almost, like a pop pop pop from the passenger side head area and it goes down the exhaust. it doesnt do it ALL the time tho, but a fair ammount
