  1. WOW i have some BAD Luck, i tried the whole nut and bolt thing....that cant work theres no room the head of the nut will hit the casting. Then i tried to tap it up to the next size.....the tap went 3/4 of the way in and then snapped off....hah wow. its sticking out abit, so out comes the manifold again, lol, i guess its ok to reuse the gaskets they were put on for like, a day, and the car was ran 1 minute. *sigh* Good experience, just like how i had to redo the timing belts 3 times, im a pro at that now. and the water pump 4 times, i can do the waterpump in 15 minutes, lol. (BTW water pump was defective, and the belts, first time the Main seal didnt seat right, 2nd time they were a tooth off, and the 3rd and final time was the tensioner wasnt tight enough on them.)
  2. alright then, thanks, i guess ill take the bolts out, and lift it up, does it need to raise alot to get it to thread in??
  3. damn i wish some1 woulda told me that im afriad if i loosen the manifold that it will ruin my new gaskets, since iv ran the car. Is it possible to do it with the manifold bolted down....
  4. its the exhaust pipe itself that threads into the EGR, i cannot for the life of me get it straght so the nut will thread in, its like my Grand prixs fuel lines all over again, talk about a nightmare. but man it ran SOOOO smooth afor that 45 seconds, lol. I may do the nut and bolt thing, the one closest to the front of the car is still good, its the back one, the one that goes all the way through (luckily i guess) so if a longer bolt wont catch some threads ill go with the nut and bolt setup

Ah ha, its the damn Thermostat housing afterall, its SPEWING coolant like 5 feet at 3k rpms, lol, its really bad, one of the damn bolts stripped the threads, ahh damnit, i got a new gasket, gasket maker junk, and longer bolts in hope that there might be useable threads left. The poor running is most likley the EGR, but its still doing its really low idle and backfire, ahg WHY is it doing that crap. i dont understand it, new gaskets, no vac leaks nothing! One of the spark plugs wires shocked me tho....like when i touched it, thats not good might need new wires then right.
  6. i didnt rush it or anything, i took my time, and triple checked everything, what the hell, the stupid Thermostat housing bolts stripped, the stupid egr wont thread, i dont see any coolant hoses in that area to be pouring out coolant unless the stupid intake gasket didnt seal or somthing, but i dont understand, theres none being burnt in the exhaust!
  7. I dont know what to do! I just spent hours, in the cold, putting that F*CKING piece of crap together and it ran beautifuly smooth for like 45 seconds and then water/exhaust started pouring out of the EGR bung, it ran like ************ stumbling, its POURING coolant out from somewhere under the intake now towards the back passenger side, the thermostat housing its leaking teribly, im ************ing screwed, i hate this car with a passion, i swear to go im going to ************ing set it on fire, im so infuriated right now, im never gonna have the piece of ************ fixed
  8. sounds just like what my mazda did, 3 new thermostats, put some cardboard in front of the radiator on cold mornings and it might be ok, but your thermostat "should" close when the temp goes below its set temprature, so its not doing its job if your temp goes down to fairly cool as you start driving

Ah.. ok so my intakes on, and i barley got that stupid EGR pipe in, and it took me aLOT of times of trying and adjusting the pipe to get the stupid nut the thread, and it went in, but only like 1/3 mabye 1/2 the way in, and stopped, and to me it looks abit crooked, im super afriad i crossed it but its not spinning, its tight, but if it leaks, and i crossed the threads, what can i do??? i dont know the thread, pitch, or nothin. there some pretty heavy coarse threads, i hate aluminum.....
  10. "HTTP 404 Page not found" lol ill do some snooping around to find it, i just keep seeing stuff about 87+ with the green connectors and crap that i dont think i have...
  11. ok so wich connectors do i connect and were, im not seeing them, or does it just flash them off. Also the guy who owns the XT says he got it running, and it runs well, just neededa new computer, and hes giving me 2 injectors for free tomarrow.
  12. possibly killed the fuel pump or somthing, granted those have electronic fuel pumps. if you could get a spare, switch them out and see
  13. my car fogs up pretty easily, but the Defroster quickly gets rid of any fogging, but it seems as soon as i set it to vent, it just starts fogging up right away. Its really annoying, arnt there vent systems towards the rear of the car? mabye there clogged up or somthing
  14. well shouldnt there be a check engine light if there are codes???? Do you guys think i should replace those 2 injectors? are they difficult to get in and out with the manifold in the car?
  15. well the oil from those type of filters can get blown onto the MAF hot wires and cause erratic readings, so i would clean the wires, do a search on that, they sell MAF cleaner at parts stores, use that.
  16. Ok, Umm, if you have that Selenoid, its on the passeneger side of the intake, 2 lines going to it, and the vacuum lines going to it, i broke those, lol, i really need that. I guess a couple injectors, if you have em im afriad the ones gonne leak now, and the other the little plastic holder thing has a huge chunk out of it, and the oring was torn, so i put new ones on, and it looks like it should seal but im leary of the one that has the line able to spin around on the crimp. so at least one if you just want shipping. Coolant temp sensor if its not peeling like mine, thanks if you have any of that stuff, it would be really helpful!
  17. mmmm The gaskets are like sludgey jelly, theres thin and very slimy, not sureprised they wernt sealing, I ran into one major problem, the drivers side long bolt twisted the head off, and i had to to use some vice grips and chanel locks to get it out, and am waiting for another bolt from somewhere, at the moment the cars basicly out of commision, and i dunno what grade bolt to get. I resealed one of my injectors. it was leaking, but the other one got bumped and free turned on the hose, oh jeese i hope i didnt cause a new leak, luckily that guy with the Turbo XT has whole set of spare injectors for it, ill be asking him for a new one if i have to. DO YOU THINK ITS GONNA LEAK NOW????? ALSO! Im soldering wires onto the Coolant thermosensor, and theres like a coating on the sensor part itself, and its peeling off, leaving a really rought surface, is my sensor shot??? Are there differences in the SPFI and MPFI ones?

  20. How does it spring open up? when i press my thing to open the gas door it just stays closed, but if some1 does it and i pull on it it opens, like the spring in a its gone, wheres that go?
  21. im 6'4 and i fit in my subaru perfect, iv never hit my head or anything, the steering wheel tilts wich is nice, and i have legroom, so i duno...
  22. Oh OH! if any of them are MPFI Turbos from 85-86 (dunno year span?) That have i think its the EGR selenoid, or mabye the purge selenoid, not sure, but its a selenoid, on the passenger side of the Engine, pretty much under the intake plenum but more towards the side, it has 2 hoses going to it.
  23. Id say the radiator, a single row should be fine, mine ran hot, and overheated going up hills, a brand new 1 row makes it run perfectly cool and the temp doesnt even move going up steep hills or going on the highway.
  24. erm that sounds like ur alternator. the light comes on if theres somthing screwy with the electrical system, and when u rev it, the RPMs go up and the alt would make enough power or what ever so the light wouldnt come on the light is tripped from low fluid also, it doesnt moniter brake pad wear
  25. take it back to the dealer, they will fix it, i mean if GM fixes all the grand ams with terrible wind noise from the back door thn i would think Subaru would fix a rattly moonroof
