  1. My RX Stopped Very fast with its 4 wheel discs, but i didnt like how going through a carwash or deep snow left me nearly without brakes for like a mile down the road.
  2. Now thats a cool car. How do people get those icon pictures of thier cars?
  3. My RX was a 5 speed D/R and it ran exactly 3k at 65 mph, and it would peak abit of boost on and off at that. flicker the light. Kinda anooying at night, lol. But it didnt need to downshift at hills, the power is right there.
  4. Its been said that back then Powersteering fluid wasnt up to snuff with quality, so subaru made a higher quality stuff and slapped a huge price tag on it. there are a few people who have been running straight Dex III or PS fluid for years with no problems, todays fluids are just as high of quality as the old Subaru PS fluid.
  5. I think subarus are very unique cars. I personally like subarus alot, i see my Old RX running around, and all kinds of other older subarus, Turbo, RX, GL Wagons and i wish i had a SUbaru again, my RX was SOOO much fun, winter time 4x4 unstoppable. It just got me way to mad, but id own another subaru in a heartbeat, preferably a GL-10 Sedan, RX Sedan or Coupe, or XT Or XT6. I just cant find any around here. I would preferably stay clear of the Turbo ones unless it appears to be taken care of. I got mine sitting under a tree for a year for 100$ with broken timing belts and a world of other ignored problems i had no idea about.
  6. Yea it sounds like you have a large vacuum leak or like you said fouled plugs or no good wires. Thats how i felt with my RX, constant problems, till i hated the car, i had to sell it because i couldnt keep a car i hated. My Mazda 626 i got a month or so ago hasnt givin me a problem yet. My Subaru had a NEW motor in it too, thats funny how that works doesnt it.
  7. those intake can be a PAIN in the rump roast to get sealed right, i did mine 3 times!
  8. over full systems will just pump out hot air too. Sounds like u need to just replace the acumulator/drier and recharge it
  9. Im kinda sad, theres a 84 Maroon Ea81 Turbo Wagon, mint body, NO rust what so ever, no dents, shiny paint, and good glass, great interior.......no engine but theres a trans. Thats it! I wish some1 here would go rescue it, if u livein washington, Its in Omak Washington, in Byrds Wrecking yard. 509-826-0594 BYRD'S WRECKING & REPAIR 129 Weatherstone Rd Omak, WA 98841 111.2MI from Spokane If anyones interested
  10. Throttle positioning sensor may need adjusting, i had a TON of AWFUL problems with dead spots, fluttering, and hesitation just from that stupid thing needing adjusting
  11. The cute litte "H" Wheels were my favorite, like on my RX i had
  12. if u overcharge an a/c system, it will not work as well, ur suppose to use less R134 than you would have used R12 when converting
  13. Thats funny, I had a 88 Mazda 323 with the same problem, only the crank pully would wobble and wobble and the keyway wore itself away, causing the pully to slip back from the wear and throwing off the ignition timing, i had to advance the distributor more and more and more to keep it running normal. My belt never did break tho, and the main seal leaked about a quart or 2 every 3-5 days. I took it apart and did the main and tried the locktite quick metal repair, i have no idea if it worked, the pully still wobbled but it kept time in the 4 months i had it after that and i sold it.
  14. My coolant smell in the interior turned out to be my intake manifold gaskets
  15. its just air in the heater core, if you dont bleed the system properly it does that, my RX did that and it freaked me out too, but it went away when i drained the system and refilled it on a hill revving the engine.
  16. Aircraft remover from walmart/ace wherever, it takes off anything, i removed the thick heavy factory powdercoating from my Pontiacs rims, took a few applications but it came off, so try that.
  17. sounds almost like the clutch is slipping...really bad, if its not accelerating and RPMs suddenly jump up to 5k and then sit at 3k and not much power. if its a manual, i suppose an automatic could do that too.
  18. Flare Red (Bright Red is all it is, Subaru calls it Flare Red)
  19. I thank GOD i didnt put my timing belt covers on. I had a defective water pump that the impeller shaft went out on and it cause the gasket itself to blow out for some odd reason, i resealed it many times and it would blow out after a few days, finally i took it back and got a nother, if i hadnt left the covers off i would have been majorly mad! AND! i took that car through snow higher than its front bumper without the covers and it did fine, went on gravel roads at 50 on it just fine. That and it made retensioning the belts eays as hell to. It also makes it much easier to find out if a belts skipped
  20. odd my covers when i took them off, came off perfect, no spining thingies or anything, or hangups, i shoulda kept them for one of you guys, lol, but every person who loooked at my car to buy said "wheres the timing belt covers???? do you have them??? thats bad!!" im like uhh its been like this for awhile, so i wouldnt worry about it.
  21. interiors fairly clean, its tan. I want a 90-93 Legacy LSi AWD, well LS AWD would be cool too. I just cant find any for sale around here!
  22. right right AWD thing i know, thats what scares me about legacy AWDs, as im gonna look for other Legacy's. But hopefully one with a manual
  23. Ah thats what i thought, KBB says 1000-1600. I dunno i may let them sit on it, look for somthing else, i do like those legacys, but the torque bind thing scares me, but thats a automatic only thing isnt it. Ill keep looking around i suppose too.
  24. Ok well a local dealer has a 1990 Legacy LS FWD. Its got all the power options, windows, locks, cruise, a/c, sunroof. And its a pretty pearl white thats in pretty good shape, tires are good, windsheilds good. Its a 16 valve it says, prolly 2.2 right? And it runs VERY queit and smooth, just has a slight problem where it wont idle, just dies at first, u just hold the pedal for a minute and it idles on its own, they said they were gonna fix that. The engine bays clean, and the car has 154k on it, its a 5 speed manual. Heres the things that DONT work SUnroof is sealed shut (silcone) and motor makes no attempt to move A/C no work Trunk release doesnt work Key lock needs jiggled to work and its loose??? Power seatbelts dont move, i was thinking fuse or the computer needs reset, cause one was in the down and the other was in the up position. Blowermotor resistors out, only #4 setting works Thats it, they was 2000$ for it and im wondering if thats an ok deal. i really like the car and would love to stay in the subaru world.
