  1. if you are into 4 wheeling there's a lot of places between here and there to go wheel. drop me a line or post here. i'm trying to start up an offroad club right now. for southern cali and az
  2. this may not be tires but for the performance side of life there is upgrades. and performance parts. granted they cost money like everything. paeco makes subaru performance engines and parts, along with some aircraft engine builders make some. there are also other sources for subaru performance, you just have to dig. don't let anyone tell you it's not out there. weber makes a carb kit to fit our cars too. weber 32/36, then attach an empi or a k & n filter. personally i use the empi on the weber, and it works awesome. there's a performance engine builder somewhere in eugene, or. that mudrat can get engines from. it all costs money. don't let people say it's not there, those are the people (no offense but,..) the reason why we can't get a lot of after market stuff. not enough people to pull together to order bulk parts so stuff becomes available for our cars.
  3. haven't had the time to drive to pheonix to run with them. i've been working 12 to 15 hrs a day and this week i work 6 days. they have a run at the end of this month. if i can make it i will. otherwise i'm waiting till i get my car back from mudrat's house. i'm planning to make the san diego 4 wheelers 4x meet in january. if you want to go to superstition mtns i can give you gps fixes or locate a meeting place. along with i can post directions. tell me what you need to get there i'll post it. imperial dunes is about 20 mins down the freeway. we would meet at pair-a-dice store at the gordon wells exit off of I-8 if we go to imperial dunes. superstition mtns, i'll locate a place this weekend.
  4. just saying welcome and cool name if that's your last name!!
  5. either superstition mountains in el centro or the imperial dunes. a light duty run nothing extreme. play in the sand and maybe a little rock if we go to superstition mtns. nothing high speed either. i keep breaking at any speed over 25mph. who's interested? post here
  6. where in so cali? i'm in yuma, az. which is basically so cal.
  7. like ken said there is drain holes in the hitachi. which is why i've just sealed it with good ol' rtv. subyfly was having a huge sputtery problem with his car when he touched water. showed him how to seal it and no problems since. it's a hard charging water runner now. for the intake all i use is an anti freeze jug on my weber. deflects initial push of water into the intake and doesn't suck water in unless you are in long enough for your engine bay to intierly flood. i've been through water to the base of the front window but only for a brief little bit. the snorkel is needed for the long haul in the water.
  8. hey if it's just wet connecters use rtv to cover the terminals and plugs. it's the same thing we do on aircraft to prevent that.
  9. i don't live in pheonix or have a turbo. but hey if you want to hook up some time to chat subies or go wheeling if you wheel. i'll be in pheonix from time to time. i live in yuma, az and have washington plates.
  10. hahaha was it a tan wagon? i talked to that guy awhile back and gave him all the web addy's... he was stoked about our lifted subies. i talked to him right after you left to go to school
  11. parker is for a weekend soon... maybe next weekend. but this area is closer. i have at least twice that 8 inches of travel i have about 18 to 22 inches travel. disconnected sway bar and heavier tires help strectch out that suspension. still not massive. but when i see it i'll be able to judge if i could have a chance of making it. i try not to jump my suby anymore cause all i do is break stuff. i'm a slow goer.
  12. don't move please don't know if anyone would like to go. it's about an hour to hour 30 outside of san diego on I8. just putting the offer out if anyone wants to come. depending on who shows up is the difficulty of trails we run. they are supposed to have anything for trail difficulty from sandy road, to dunes, to difficult rock trails, to extremely hard lockers required and no fear of any dent trails. all who'd like to go post and or email me. any questions post them or email them to me too.
  13. how much and what size tires? i'll be running 33's
  14. it's not at the bottom of the strut. i replaced that hub when the bolt backed out. it's the top bushing part. this is the third one that has torn out. and they alternate sides the first was the drivers side, the second the passenger then now the drivers side once again. what it's doing is seperating the strut from the top mount just tearing that bushing??? the first 2 times it shoved the strut through the fender. this time it just mearly poped out. i pushed it back in the hole and drove home. it's driving me insane i seem to be the only one with this problem. i need to find a way to reinforce, cause so far the junkyard prices are hellacious!! :madder: lots of fun!! i'm getting a new strut wednesday, they want too much but i have to pay it, i guess... then on saturday i'm planning on running up to superstition mtns, to try the knock on wood trail, most diff rock crawlin' trail see how far i can make it.
  15. dunes are rad!! but once again another strut bites the dust. i wasn't going too fast this time around but a few to many whoops at the bottom of a hill started to pogo me back to front. and in the process of trying to slow down more it poped. that's # 3. i need to find away to reinforce these things. or be nicer to them. i almost shot off a 60 foot razor back dune!! :eh: luckinly i was only going like 10 to 15 mph at the time. got to get my camera fixed so i can take pictures of my car out in this area. lots of rock and sand here in the sw.
  16. everytime i get together with hatch patrol members and board members. i always have a good time. i just wanted to thank all who showed up, even though most showed up for a short time, it was great to see you all again and for some the first time. I want to especially say thank you to Qman, Zapar, Subarutex, and subafly. you have all helped out greatly, and made me into the suby addict i am (just don't tell the gov't, they'll commit me ) Thanks again and hopefully we can do it again soon...
  17. well it's official. brian isn't open diff no more. when we finished up my rollbar we welded a diff for him. so he's got the lincoln locker ready to stuff in his car, and no more open diff blues. :headbang:
  18. upper 311 no one wanted to try . oh well another time. hopefully i'll be up here next year for another get together. we did 519 a and b several times, 102 several times (worm) also the easy 102 from staging area to the base of 102. one undesignated trail in the area of 102. the easy trail across from 520. up 520 (rockslide), trail 199, and 311 A up and down. those are the ones i can remember. i ran part way up a few trails while brian sat below. and there was little likely that open diff was going up most of those....
  19. neither... mitch ran to bushes afterwards. he shouldn't have drank so much pop. he jinxed me to tip anyways... at the start of the trail he said hahaha wouldn't it be funny if you rolled... so i joke and blame him for it.
  20. can't go. street tires and too many miles to go monday morning.
  21. soon as my camera is working i'll post the pics it decided to jam on me . i'm glad i came out of the flop ok too! luckily nothing too major. that was the the one thing i never wanted to happen, but it did.
  22. well i've been slowly modifying since ec, a toyota 4runer roll bar. i've shortened the widthby 3 inches and lengthened the front by 10 inches. all for free, that's why i didn't make a new one. but by the time i leave for az it'll be all the way done and my new seats will be in!
  23. he doesn't need a snorkel yet. just to put the antifreeze bottle over his intake. that's what i have and never have had a problem. sealed disty on mine. That trip was awesome i did a total of 15+ different trail runs!! and was exactly what i needed!
