  1. Yep, found this out the hard way the other night. Now I have to figure out how returning things works on Amazon.com They need to fix their application guide on the GCK website.
  2. This will in general make your digital picture experience much more enjoyable: http://picasa.google.com/ It very nicely puts your photos so you can look at ALL of them at one time categorized with nice previews. It also has the power to make common corrections, cropping, resizing, and batch renaming. Very good program.
  3. MDF is not the best choice for states where the doors experience rain and extreme weather... But making your own is not hard, they don't have to be pretty or perfectly round.
  4. My amazon order came in last night. Wow! You weren't kidding GD, this thing is a work of art. I seriously would like to mount this thing to impress people. I ordered the SB-8005 for my 5sp 4wd '89... hopefully its the right one. I will probably start ripping into this tonight! The only thing murky in my head is how people use screw drivers to help pull the new axle through the hub?? Hopefully mine does not give me too much trouble.
  5. I was on streetfire for 5 minutes the other day and ran into one of his comments again...
  6. Ok, well I guess I'll go ahead and order the front GR2's for the 85/86. If there is a problem I guess there are plenty of people with experience in lowering or lifting an EA82 wagon.
  7. The only other thing to watch for when going as narrow as possible is the load bearing capabilities of the tire itself. Other than that, the skinnier the better... IIRC, these are 155's or something along those lines.
  8. Has anyone personally used the 85-86 wagon front shocks on a later model wagon? I still haven't seen a clear answer for this... I noticed Monroe has different part numbers for the later wagons, so I e-mailed them to find out what the dimensional differences or whatever is different between the two. Hopefully they respond.
  9. And hope it doesn't go back in the shop before its done...
  10. I am looking for struts also, and this is has to be the most frustrating thing I have ever tried to find for any of my old Subes... So to verify will 85-86 4wd Wagon struts work on later 4wd wagon models including my 1989 and the Loyale. This will not throw the heights way off or anything funky, like the front end being 4" higher than the rear?
  11. You are best off making a metal WRX one work. This is a very common failure on these cars. But be careful, the metal tank will get very very hot. Be very careful where you put your fingers and wrists under the hood or your skin will go
  12. Is GCK one of the better brands for axles, or just the common one?
  13. I'm with ya, there's a few things on that EA82 I would grab in a heartbeat.
  14. I don't know about all this. The 2.2 was rated at 160 but makes more like 180+. Stock high mileage dyno numbers are too high and quarter mile ET's too low for an 3000 lb AWD car with only 160. Oh, and turbo legacy's absolutely destroy 2.5RS's rated at 165 hp in a lighter package. 2+2 != 5 The 2.0 is also rated for a gasoline grade that is higher than what is found at most pumps. And DOHC makes it a pain to work in the engine bay, not to mention timing belt jobs. Personally, in my opinion, it'd be better to get the original engine that runs on the correct ecu and get JDM power easily with a mod or two...
  15. Hahaha, wow. Well, you did not get a turbo Legacy... but a good deal nonetheless.
  16. Umm, point it at a wall and see which way makes a difference. That's what I did on my Legacy.
  17. Also don't forget to let the penetrant do its job. Soak it. Try to loosen a few times. Soak again. Let it sit over night. It's amazing how more time for the penetrant can help.
  18. There are quite a few things that could have bent. But like was said, you won't really know until you drive it.
  19. Definitely find out. That would be great to have the larger opening. Of course, I have both in my driveway. Maybe I should just go look.
  20. I take it you have never driven a car with excellent ABS brakes. I'm not talking about 2 channel cheaper type units that lock up an axle at a time. I wouldn't give up my ABS in the Sport Sedan for anything. It does what it is supposed to do... well.
  21. Personally I would avoid "stage 1" stuff. You shouldn't need the heavy duty pressure plate, been there done that. And I'm not a fan of the ACT aluminum flywheels. Steel bolted to aluminum and then continually heated/cooled and spun very fast in the engine... no thanks. Exedy is a solid piece of billet steel and is very driveable day to day. I wouldn't give mine up for anything, driveability is fine. You might get a soft stall here and there, a very carefully timed bog can make the engine stop where the old heavy flywheel would have chugged through it (roughly).
