  1. heres the thing i wored at a wrecking yard until last week. so i know how to find parts. i just keep gettin the run around. and i think i found a guy who is gonna help me out, man i didnt think anyone would respond 'thanks:) ' all i need now is front axels and what ever else it is that jolting when i give it gas. other then that its powerful it pulled my honda from the side (lol) and two 1980's toyotas one with a nice lift (8 inch or so) thanks again.
  2. i live in washington but i can send you pics of my progress. i bought it for $200 and i a cheap car needs work so thats what its getting. hood just painted with bedliner. body is getting bondo'd (not much tho) wanna see pics?
  3. i have been lookin for parts for my 79 brat and canot find someone who actually has some. i need a radiator and a driver side door and a tail gate latch. can anyone help? this ru is going to ba amazing. just needs a few things first.
  4. SWEET! i have a brat too. and im doin the same thing. (restore) man thats a good lookin ru. im doin mine a little different tho. im using black bed-liner for the body. (NO STUPID SCRATCHES:grin: ) and marine carpet gor the cab but first dynamat for sound reduction. my exause is a lil loud too right now. and we have the same dent in the nose of our hoods. lol awesome job man!
  5. does anyone know if there is another radiator that will fit in my 79 brat? i keep gettin the run around and cant find any replacements anywhere... thanks so much.
  6. i love drifting but also love to show the toyotas up in enumclaw (need a lil lift ta do so). i want to lift it but dont wanna roll my ru while cornering. i was just thinkin about gettin new rims and bigger tires. (dont know what size to go with yet) someone please send me some nice advise. i know you guys have been there and done it already...
  7. oh cool. ill have to try some jerky, a buddy of mine said its amazing too.
  8. advice well taken. i know all about the classes. im going to college. and like corky said, im leanin to the inmport shop instead of just subaru. soi dont have to go threw subaru and wait to goto work. and im going to renton tech i like green river.
  9. sweet. ill lift it out with a chain and pulley. then replace that damed bearing
  10. ok whatever it takes. so how long should this take?
  11. i was lookin at the rear suspention today and it will be really easy to pull it off and extend it enough to lift it th where i want it, same with the front just cut and extend so the angle isnt off. and i dont need axel mods for this just my trusty ol welder and chop saw. my subaru is worth every minute i put into it.
  12. im not so sure about the liner over the dynamat cause i think the dynamat flexes and compresses if you push on it hard. so the liner might deform. ill test it. i have the perfect way to fix dash cracks! ok get a sander and a little bondo. now get the spray can tool dip. its the gritty or smooth rubber stuff they put on wire cutter handles. well now its self explanitory. sand the sracks down then bondo em, shave or sand that smooth and spray your dash with the rubberized color spray of your choice. this is sweet cause items wont fall off as easy when turning. i have tons of ideas. if you want to know more.
  13. do you think ill be able to drop the tranny with out pulling the engine? and pull the Bearing off:confused: ?
  14. my 79 has 4 headlights, but no grill, i got this sweet wire mesh thats really strong. im putting that in.
  15. no i forgive and forget. yea thats my idea i just want to know it anyone else is getting certified as well. i want to start a subaru shop that works on everything for every modle.
  16. thats sweet! i have the some thin goin except im not putin it threw my fender. i have a 1979 brat and and im making a custom O2 box that simular to the hi tech snorkles used for sea research. if water happens to get in this box it fitlerout the H2O and spits out the drain holes befor it gets to the main filter. then all i have to do it make the grill scoops for the air box and then make the coils water proof housing. but yours looks awesome and if you want i know some awesome sites that sell parts for dirt cheap.
  17. hey i just bought a BRAT and im on my way to college this year (winter quarter) and im getting certified in all 8 automotive areas. i wanted to know if anyone had input on me opening up a subaru shop? and if i do get to the point to opening a shop i want people who love subaru to work there. this wont be for a year or so but i wanted to ask. and are there groups that go off camping or cruising? i just wanna go do somthin. i know Zapar is close cause i met him. but yea get back to me.
  18. your right about the noise dampening, but i wouldnt just apply the liner (on the inside of your car). if your low on money (i know i am) just go to a junk yark and pick up plastic/rubber liner out of an old car, and if your willing to buy the best, get dynamat and lay it down on top of your hurculiner, and then a carpet kit with out that crapy padding (you wont hear a sound and it doesnt weigh more then you stock carpet set with the padding). that will help even more with the noise and the cold. and your window leak can be fixed for no more then 10 bucks. if you have a home dopot or a do it center or even ACE, you can pick up a tube of clear sealent that bonds with other sealents and it is all weather. i fixed my girlfriends moon roof leak with it. (and thats hard to do it you plan on scraping off all the tar thats on the car already and replacing it with more tar) if you want to know the exact stuff i use just ask ill give you all the info.
  19. It does add tremendous strength to the metal integrity. And the kit im putting on is roll on. But the guys at line-x can spray a car anywhere between 200 to 500 bucks if you like a straight body and hate getting scratches then I highly recommend this. And as far as weight. Take as much paint as it would take to spray your fender (primer, color, and clear coat) and compare it to the same amount of hurculiner and the tuff stuff wins. Plus people that say it is heavy probably weighed it in its "wet weight" not applied and dry. : )
  20. so how do i know if the EGR failed? and now the carb is actin poppy or spitterin n sputterin. im guessin it needs to be cleaned. im thinkin about takin it in and putin it on the dyno for some hi-perfomance tuning. i found out that the floo pans were some what rusted out, so i fiber-glassed the crap outta them, i also pulled of my exhaust and replaced the rotten pipes now i just gotta get the front right CV axel set up, and replace the throw out bearing. any one know a cheap way on going about these tasks:headbang: ?
  21. im making my own bumpers... what state are you in? i might be able to help you...
  22. no egr valve. ok good. (i read that could be one boging problem) and the sound that happens when i push in the clutch is kinda like a gear winding. its a black canister with two brake fluid bulbs on top. i beleive it is the vaccume housing.
