me and GD did the auto to manual DR swap into my loyale. i dont the switch hooked up and its my daily driver. runs fine. but i did use a cruise control switch i will wire to my ecu in the netural switch spot so when the clutch is out it thinks its in gear and when its in it thinks its in netural. not a big hassle just a small hurdle. best of luck on your swap

Oil smell inside car when running A/C or Heat???
SoobGoob replied to jk4138's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sometimes when HG's go, coolant and oil mix. maybe there in some oil in your coolant running through your heater core. but as far as i know that is contained, just an idea. maybe check heater core hoses? -
problem solved! it was missing a DR LO switch, turns out before they put the LO light switch in the consloe there was one on the transmission itself. must be an 85 thing. there wasnt even casting for the single range lever. so now its holding fluid and shifting smoothly.
-
thanks for the advice everyone, i am replacing the shift rod seals today and praying thats my problem. im spending more on trans fluid than gas to get around
-
wasnt the output seal. does anyone have any other ideas? its loosing QUARTS at a time but about 1 1/2 quarts do not leak out. all fluid but that leaks out almost instantly. i cant see where its coming from but i know its near the rear somewhere around the output of the transmission and only really leaks when i drive
-
checked around all i saw was other people on sites like these caliming it is kerosene. look around its out there
-
cant remember. vwvortex fourms i belive, ill look into it further and let you know
-
seafoam is kerosene, just a lower qualtiy not as strong
-
could it possiably be the rear output? is there a seal in there?
-
is there any place in partictular that a 5spd dual range transmission leaks? common? not common? has anyone else had this problem? its leaking pretty bad. just installed it too
