  1. 2k? then your doin fine, i have seen guages off, even good ones. get a hemostat, from a blood pressure kit. those are almost always spot on =]
  2. whats the distributor pickup coil, is it inside of the distributor? if so you can put any distributor from any ea81 in there. if its just the coil in general, any aftermarket cylinder type coil with a + and - post will do. or any coil from another subaru. if you need either one, i have both.
  3. i say your wastegate is at fault. you can ad a bleeder to get the boost where you want it. just t off of the wastegate line, put an adjustable valve on the t, and then bleed off a little boost at a time till you get it to where you want it. what kind of guage are you using? also the amount of boost you get id dependant on atmosphere. im pretty sure anyway.
  4. all hotwire mpfi is the same, and all flaper mpfi is the same. cept the er27. automatic computers work with manual, turbo computers work with na motors. all the same stuff =] although a standard computer, may not work with an auto tranny... not sure bout that one.
  5. looks like the brat bed is gonna get chopped and sectioned to make it fit.
  6. on my 86 hatch, the heater controll vac hose, comes out of the firewall, under the spare tire. it goes direclty to the manifold, and works good. on my ea82 85 wagon, i have the hose routed to the same spot on the manifold. it seems to make the heater switch from the normal ac mode, to the floor heat, to the defrost all on its own when im driving, do i have to USE that round vac ball that i threw away, or do i need to hook it up different on my ea82 than my ea81 car?
  7. ya i like the 4 bolt flanges too, only looks like one or two will be hard to get to. i like. build it, screw buying it!
  8. i swear all subarus do that. its the flat underbody pan i think. mine are only noticable when stopped. you must have an exhaust leak under there somewhere.
  9. haha, lpg is gas when it goes into atmosphere. i believe the aussies, have more experience on this one than us. i dont see why using it on older motors would be a problem. unless the concern is the poorly sealed rings, will fill the crankcase with propane?
  10. think shawn is prolly trying to get a whole new crowd in here with the conversions forum. you guys that are bichin, stop, we have always needed this. look at any other forum. they are divided alot better than ours was. with all of the traffic the usmb sees. it will keep posts from getting on page 2 in day 1. dont you get tired of all the common questions on the old forum? stuff you have answered 1k times before, and were glad to do it. but it just gets old reading through all that stuff. this should be called the hardcore forum! or "dont wuss out, weld it in" forum.
  11. never understood that last part, about turning the car off while moving, is it because you might loose brake boost vac? or is it something about frying out poitnts, or ignitions.
  12. with trunk fully loaded? does that mean you have to clean it out?
  13. the only other thing that could make it slip, is a cable that is too tight, but thats not usualy it =/
  14. do you think the clutch is going? if you floor it, and the rpms go up, and the car doesnt speed up, then the clutch is slipping. thats about the only way to tell. you can powershift, and floor it before you let the clutch all the way out, and that will tell you if its getting close. seems like they usualy make it to at least 120k miles before they need a clutch, unless its a turbo =]
  15. if subaru put that turbo on the car, its efi already.
  16. when a person wanted to ask a question about an ej in a brat. that could go in the old forum, or new forum. this forum will fix that.
  17. ya, im kinda expecting them to break.... its just plates welded to the sides. next one i willburn all the rubber off, and weld them up very solidly.
  18. seems great, have had it on the highway now, and it doesnt seem any worse with the solid mounts. i have a rough idle right now, and thats very noticable.
  19. where are you in minnesota? you could put an ea82t, or ea82mpfi na in there too. im sure youd have no trouble getting rid of a 30k mile motor.
  20. bring a piece with you when you go to buy it =/ its metric, and napa, or any parts store will sell you standard sizes, so the size wont realy help you. its very common stuff... all of it
  21. i think this place will rule, when i was looking for help on fuel injecting my car, i would make a post and it would get pushed to the bottom by common problems like, clicking cvs, and got no attentin. this will be a good thing. as maintanance gurus can hang out and help with the old forum. and the swap guys can help with this forum alot. i think we've needed something like this for a long time. thanks!
  22. could you explain how fuji heavy/subaru had a university develope stuff? sounds interesting as hell!
