TheLoyale replied to Soob-a-dude's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSo the 2002-03 rear struts still have the same 2 bolt style on the lower mount like all EJ Subarus prior? Does anyone know when they swapped to the other style seen on the 2001 and up Legacy?

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Really! A lost of the first gen Foresters had them, and some Outbacks. Its a hit and miss type of thing but they are kinda cool.

TheLoyale replied to Soob-a-dude's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy understanding, both the Accord springs and 4-Runner Struts are meant to lift the Older Subarus (80s) As for lowering a first gen Legacy, pretty much any strut combo up to 2001 Impreza should work, I don't know if you are going to get much lower unless you run aftermarket setup. Anyway, from what I've seen, after 2001 the rear struts are different (Same goes for Legacy) Anyone else have more info on this?

Please tell me you swapped on an Alloy one from an EJ25 like I did.

Replaced the cup holder with another that does not rattle from a '97 Outback.

A sound like this, is what I'm after. Even a Turbo EJ22 does not sound like this.

I haven't done any suspension to this thing yet, but I am getting close! Are you gonna mail me a check? You have no excuse not too since you already have my address

I dunno if I want the hassle of eliminating the cat, as I would need to get the pipe made, add a bung for the O2 sensor and then see if I throw any new codes. Plus like Scott said, it'll probably be hard to get a shop to do the work I demand. Although, Waterford Jon probably knows someone with a mandrel bender (I can weld the flanges) What I'd really like to acquire, would be the sound of a WRX, that real deep lumpiness. But I don't know if that can come out of a SOHC EJ22 since all WRXs are DOHC.

Thats also another nice thing about Flat engines, they are always quiet at idle (Unlike an I4) Mine has a nice slow rumble at idle, really quiet. I think I have a video somewhere...? Edit: Here are the video(s)

Must say, I put about 8,000 miles on these Potenza G019s, and they don't show any sign of wear. And I drive them track style now and then, very solid hard compound tire, thats also great in snow, wet, mud. Very pleased Bridgestone!

I run without a muffler right now, its not very loud, has a nice growl. Although I can agree with running open head, its gonna be loud, plus you lost a lot of bottom end. Good to know about cost, this might just be the way I go!

On the topic of exhaust, that is something I really need to do on TW10. The mid pipe flange has a pin hole where it meets the 2nd cat, as the cats flange is rotted all way. What I'd like to do is: Either get a new cat or eliminate the 2nd cat all together (Is that possible?) Get a Duel Resonated Midpipe from a 2.5, or have one made. Run it all open out to the rump roast end. For shiz and gigz, if I walked into a tire/exhaust shop, and asked them to replicate my midpipe but with 2 resonators and a larger diameter pipe (2.25") what do you think that would cost out of standard exhaust tubing? Under $200? Cause then, I would either get a decent muffler like the Impreza guys run, or just do it straight open bumping the size from 2.25" to like 2.5 or 3". Ideas, Thoughts, Rants? Lets have'em.

Same here, I think the glass is a little more durable. But, everyone has their opinion. If you want to fix your poor headlights, swap some HIDs in place of the 9004s. You will light up the entire road. All my vehicles have HIDs now. No going back!

That is pretty interesting, I wonder why they didn't continue them onto the Legacy. Personally, I like glass lights better then plastic, they just project better. The lights in my Loyale and Land Cruiser are both glass and still out illuminate better then the Legacy or Outback lights. You just can't do all the funky shapes with glass as you could with a polymer.

Superu, you will want to look for 1998-99 Lights, that were the only years they had two piece (96-97) had the single piece legacy style. Yes, like 987687 said, you will need to splice in the other connecter to the vehicle wiring. Its just a 9007 style. And yes, the 9007 bulbs are WAY better then the H4 bulbs. I also agree with 987687, The projectors are plastic. Also, on the first gen Imp, they are plastic from what I have seen in the yards. Subaru did away with the Glass housings when they stop production of the EA82.

Its a '95 Outback. Do I need to say more? Do the math.

100% direct swap. The only think you will need to change is the H4 harness end, to the Outbacks 9007 Harness end (That was easy) Other then that, all the mounting holes are right where they should be, even for the corner light (You will need a little square push in plastic nut, like what they use for licence plates) so the corner light has something to bolt to. Other then that, direct swap. And the light output is much more solid/full and even, no stupid little flares off to the side like with the stock housings. Totally worth the 30min it took to swap them in. Cheers. Edit: one thing thats funnny about the OB lights Vs. the Legacy. With the OB style, the entire Lamp housing pitches to adjust beam angle, unlike the Legacy style, where only the inner bucket moves. (This reminds me of an EA82 lamp now) lol
