  1. I can feel my compressor but it really does not seem bad at all (highway) in my 91 loyale, Noticeable drag, Maybe another 1/2 inch of throttle doing 70mph.
  2. I have heard that r134 is less effective than r12, r12 was outlawed because of environmental reasons (it harms the ozone)
  3. I used to buy "or be given" broken down foreign cars only to repair the problem then resale them at a profit. Never kept any. Then I bought my first subaru an 86 GL. I replaced the haed gaskets and then when I test drove it, I had so much fun that I decided to keep it awhile. I have had a running subaru every since, Never paid more than $500, An though I still own two domestic vehicles, (79 GMC Sierra, 68 GTO) I will always have a Subaru for my daily driver! My next car buy will be a 90 something legacy, with ej22 instead of ea82, (Yeah thinking of stepping up!)But still a Subaru!
  4. You probably already know this, But make sure the spring washer is "pointing" the right direction, It is marked "out" but usually you have to clean it to read it! I put a rear one on backwards by accident and after a 500 mile trip I had to replace the hub, and the cone-washer.
  5. As far as the headlight I had the same problem, One of the relays behind the dash, to the left of the steering wheel was the problem. I don't remember which one , But I just swapped them around to trobleshooot, then replaced the bad one
  6. Does anyone know if a collasped "rattling" cat would cause a check engine light, Mine rattles "Mostly noticeable during shifts when the clutch is pushed in and the throttle is let off" But runs very well anyway, But I get a check engine shortly after startup, (within the first mile). Or has anyone removed the cat. And welded in new tubing in it's place, If so how did the car perform without it?
  7. Upullit in Klamath Falls, Oregon has a lot of sube's. Cheap too!
  8. I've seen conversion kits for 134a at schucks for 30 some dollars, Anyone tried these?
  9. Definate potential, Congrats, Good score!
  10. A less restrictive exhaust has always been a "no lose" modification, Increasing both power and efficiency of an engine!
  11. I "think" this is correct, my 91 always does this and runs great.
  12. glow blows? where do you get them?
  13. Hey All; I may not have really explained it right. The "bouncing at low speed is like the whole rear of the car is going up and down as if a rear tire was oval. This is only felt about 2-5 mph. The car feels real good after that until right at 70 the front sort of shudders like an out of balance tire. Would bad struts or warped rim explain this? How do I "test" struts or find out if a rim is warped ? I will go have the tire shop check wheel balance as the tires are new and under warranty.
  14. Hi All; I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about these symptoms, At very low speeds it seems like my 91 Loyale is "bouncing" as if one or more tires is out of round, Also, at speeds around 70mph through 80mph the front end shudders a bit like "out of balance" tires, all my cv's and joints are good. These tires are almost new and I can't think of any other explanation. Any ideas?
  15. I have to agree 100% about lubrication, I have an old truck that I had to twist the door key almost to the breaking point to open during winter. I sprayed some TV tuner cleaner (color master brand with silicone) , into the lock hole (it's all I had on hand) It worked INCREDIBLY well!! Since I have used it yearly on all my vehicles locks And the keys slide in and turn like hot metal in butter! Works great!! Any cleaner-degreaser containing silicone shouold work as well and no amount of ice or dirt affects it.
  16. Thank's I feel kinda lame not noticing this before!
  17. I had an 87 GL that the rear door only opened from the inside, Until the child lock (inside doorjam) got moved, then I had a situation like yours. I had to damage the inside panel to repair the problem ( the rod from the outer handle came off) inside still OK with the child lock off.(up position) I replaced the door panel for $20 from pick-a-part. Best advise I have hope it helps!
  18. My 91 loyale 5sp gets 33 hiway, 25 around town
  19. I'm am impressed!!
  20. Hi guy's I am having trouble posting photos of my Loyale, What do you guy's recommend for photo sharing?
  21. It was a couple months ago and it was in "older generation" so I'm thinking EA 81/82. But coulda been EJ22 not sure. Just curious if they got it to work and what they ended up using?
  22. There was a post awhile back from a guy who wanted to try to supercharge his sube. Any new news?
  23. I am retired from my profession, But work part time for the Union Pacific railroad, We have 10's of thousands of vehicles, Most are used alot on dirt roads, Oil change every 5K miles is what the maintenence department goes with. Regardless of vehicle manufacturer. I don't know how they decided this but we do get 300K out of gas engines before selling them off.
  24. Also be SURE the "spring washer" is on correct, it has a marking that says "out" .
