You got the one with the correct spline count right? Turbo models with the 25 splines and non turbo with 23...

Should the 1992 EA82 pull a little to the right?

TD05H or Big compressor VF7?
cobcob replied to 4WDFrenzy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As to the head gasket question... maybe give these guys a call... according to their .PDF archive that I downloaded they've done some head gaskets for an EA82 in the past! http://www.headgasket.com/index.html -
Harbor Freight routinely sells a cheap DMM for about $3.00 if there's not a Harbor Freight near you I'd be happy to snap one up at their next sale and mail it to ya!

Gaaaaahhhh... My eyes!! points for fabrication and resourcefulness though!

Just about any exhaust shop should be able to do the up-pipe section for you at a reasonable price. I'd avoid your big chain ones and go with a Mom 'n' Pop if you can find one... I used to go to a place up in Illinois and they'd make up darn near anything you wanted or needed. Took in a bent piece of wire one time and said "I need some 2.5" pipe bent to this profile" 10 mins later I had a sweet mandrel bent section that cost me a total of $12.87

I like the way you think Hyrysc... I've got a buddy who works at O'Reilly and can get cherry bombs for under $20 each IIRC

Fender Question on 84 Brat...
cobcob replied to Huck369's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have it on good info that SOA dumped a metric buttload of parts for older subies a year or so back to clear space in their warehouses... I know at least 1 dealer threw a set of perfectly good Brat front struts out cos they were taking up space about 3 months ago -
Definately worth a complaint to the BBB...
-
I dunno, I might have just been really tired when I thought I read it... No idea if I actually read it or made it up...
-
Am I correct in remembering that the Brat's had an option of dual rear wheels? Anyone got any info on how they accomplished that? Or am I making stuff up in my puny little mind?
-
My understanding of Torque Steer is the way that vehicles will tend to pull one way or the other when the gas is mashed to the floor... As 86BRATMAN mentioned, due to the unequal length axles

Thanks Cougar!

Thanks for the tip Cougar... Don't guess you're interested in selling those FSM's are ya?

No personal experience here but wouldn't the pressure be a bit too high? maybe if you were able to patch it from the inside you might be OK (push the patch through the hole then hold it in place with a string while the glue sets) Just my thoughts though

Awesome! I'm down in the Springfield area, once I get my beast going we should try for a local cruise night or something! I'd love to unwind this turbo'd wagon round some of the corners up near Camdenton, not to mention hitting the dirt for a bit of rally!

Definately an MAF issue... I'm getting a code '23' in d-check mode... Guess I'll try and source another one around someplace. After that I should be able to get it to idle properly so I can check the timing...
-
Awesome! THanks!! No wonder I couldn't get any codes... I was waiting for the CEL to flash!
-
Where on the ECU do I look? I thought that the CEL would flash the code out? I marked the position of the idle screw before adjusting it, took it a few degrees in and out then set it back to where it was when it didn't do anything...
-
Having some issues with my 88 GL-10T. It's giving all indications of an MAF problem, cleaned the MAF, and it would then start and idle Problem is that it won't idle below 2500 rpm! I've tried adjusting the idle speed screw on the throttle body but that doesn't have any effect. I've got the battery disconnected right now so it'll hopefully clear the codes. I haven't been able to get the CEL to flash at all, it just stays on solid no matter if I have the black connectors or green connectors plugged in... Kinda stumped here!

MAF sensor cleaning...who'd a thunk!

mykingcrab, You gots a PM -
The other Soob I'm getting soon is a 1990 Loyale wagon... body wise it's in great condition, mechanically it needs have some work reassembling things. I guess that the owner before the guy I'm getting it from had the timing belts replaced but ran out of $$$ to get it put back together the rest of the way... Apparently it's all there though!

Bought an '88 GL-10 Turbo wagon from rlhodges on this forum just the other day... Needs some work, seems like maybe a lot of vacuum leaks, exhaust work, possibly a head gasket... All told I'm pretty dang happy with it though! Photos uploaded here and NO! 1 Soob is NOT enough... theres another arriving as soon as the titles get sorted out
