It depends on your techs, I told mine my 83 GL was AWD not 4WD so he didn't even dyno it....

pulled off one at the bone yard, wd40 helped us out.

Does a modern 5-speed just bolt on or is it a different 5-speed in the 80's?

I'm tired of searching for it, I have an 83 (EA81) GL 4wd hatch with a 4 speed man, does any one know how much power the tranny can handle? I'm used to the 5-speed and it's 300hp wall on my WRX, so I figure the older ones are even more fragile.

it's like a mini Baja

on my hatch (and 02 wrx) ther remote trunk cable is attched on the release in the trunk area, both are covered by a plastic panal with clips that pull out. if you remove the panal you can see where the cabel is attched, just un hook the cable and your golden. or you can remove you driver side door plate and un-hook it at the lever too.

For oldies, the used car section of Craig's List says it all. If you want a WRX, So*Cal or the Bay Area is the place to be.

baja turbos = sleeper

prep it yourself = cheaper sand and primer it at home, little bit at a time then get another quote. most of the cost is not the parts.
