I would like to at least stop by, and did I hear paintballing? -
There are some pretty awesome home brewed subaru's but does anyone have one larger than this one? I know this pic has been posted before, I was just wondering if anyone has anything bigger and who has the largest actual subaru? (aka not a body put onto a yota frame or something like that)
-
Scott how's the trip looking, more people going to make it?
-
What year and model (if it makes a difference) of the Tempo work on these not so uncommon EJ82's?
-
You turning them the correct direction? (Sorry, I know I'm a jackass:dead: ) I have had pretty good luck with Vise Grips clamped down and then beat on them with a sledge or slip a long pipe over them, just make sure you clamp them the right way.

I don't know if this is allowed but here is a link to another subaru forum that has pics of a little bit of a lifted STI. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=935419&highlight=lifted I would be intersted to know how much clearance he actaully has. For my 91 loyale swap to 97 2.2 it cost close to $2,200 (myself as labor). Price includes fluids, hoses, radiator, adapter, engine, wiring, ecu, intake, exhaust, and some misc parts. I wanted reliability because I drive it every day so I went with new/rebuilt. You definitely could go less if you shop around, and could definitely go much higher if you wanted!

Thanks Tex that's pretty helpfull. You are running a JDM EJ22 or are you speaking of two different motors? What year is your EJ22?
-
Thanks Caboobaroo, that is good to know, does this mean also things like fuel lines have switched sides? Is everything switched or just some stuff? Nipper, I haven't swapped an OBDI motor, just OBDII. Do you know if the JDM Motors are the same OBDI for earlier years and OBDII for later or do they have something different?
-
Whatever year there was a WRX was made, I want to put a newer EJ motor in my 91 loyale which is not an impreza, i think... does that mean the swap is easier? Sorry i used a bad year as an example. Here more specifically is what I am looking for... lets say i have any JDM motor... what things would I have to do differently to place it in a US Subaru than if I got a wrecked US subaru and placed its motor in another US Subaru?
-
Na, just didn't want to take up space, JDM motors what prep do they take? are they just a plug and play, meaning, lets say i have a 99 wrx, can i by a 99 wrx jdm motor and drop it in with out changing anything? Do things like senors, wiring harnesses, ecu, etc change? What all is involved with a JDM?
-
Does anyone have some time and experience to answer a few JDM motor questions? I have a list of questions I would like to talk to someone about before i endeavor into a JDM swap... any takers?
-
Do you have any side pics showing how far out/in the tires stick out?
-
what time do you guys get started and how long you out there?

hmmm.... How about a set of Yota Rims? Which leads to a new question. I have 2 sets of steel 15" rims for the 140mm 4 lug which I would like to keep and use. I would also like to get some Yota rims because I like the wider stance look they provide. Should I convert the Yota rim to a 4 lug or convert my 2 sets of wheels and hubs to the Yota/chevy 6 lug?
-
Would you happen to have any 3.5" EA82 Front strut extensions I could buy off you if I came by tonight?
-
Which brings us back to... "wouldn't it be nice to have a supply of the newer gen Dual ranges?":brow:

After swapping in a cheap 97 2.2L, I questioned why I didn't just do a 2.5L motor. Anyone know of a good place to locate any of the new 2.5L? I haven't looked at an OBDI harness, is the wiring that much different? The check engine light is nice to have working (if you leave things stock) lets you know when somethings not working right.
-
go with the obdII if you have it. I am running a 96 in mine and if you have the two sets of factory manuals the conversion isn't bad.
-
Where in washington did you get your quote from?
-
There are so many things that need to be checked when pulling a rearend I might suggest accidental installation errors may be responsible. No offence to anyone who had a Phatom go bad, because I am sure there is a reason why its only $300 when other brands run $800-$900.

Has anyone compared the Phantom aftermarket unit and the stock LSD units? Couple of questions... 1) Does one hook up better than the other? 2) Do all stock LSD Hook up the same or are some better than others?
