  1. Thanks Caboobaroo, that is good to know, does this mean also things like fuel lines have switched sides? Is everything switched or just some stuff? Nipper, I haven't swapped an OBDI motor, just OBDII. Do you know if the JDM Motors are the same OBDI for earlier years and OBDII for later or do they have something different?
  2. Whatever year there was a WRX was made, I want to put a newer EJ motor in my 91 loyale which is not an impreza, i think... does that mean the swap is easier? Sorry i used a bad year as an example. Here more specifically is what I am looking for... lets say i have any JDM motor... what things would I have to do differently to place it in a US Subaru than if I got a wrecked US subaru and placed its motor in another US Subaru?
  3. Na, just didn't want to take up space, JDM motors what prep do they take? are they just a plug and play, meaning, lets say i have a 99 wrx, can i by a 99 wrx jdm motor and drop it in with out changing anything? Do things like senors, wiring harnesses, ecu, etc change? What all is involved with a JDM?
  4. Does anyone have some time and experience to answer a few JDM motor questions? I have a list of questions I would like to talk to someone about before i endeavor into a JDM swap... any takers?
  5. Do you have any side pics showing how far out/in the tires stick out?
  6. what time do you guys get started and how long you out there?
  7. hmmm.... How about a set of Yota Rims? Which leads to a new question. I have 2 sets of steel 15" rims for the 140mm 4 lug which I would like to keep and use. I would also like to get some Yota rims because I like the wider stance look they provide. Should I convert the Yota rim to a 4 lug or convert my 2 sets of wheels and hubs to the Yota/chevy 6 lug?
  8. Would you happen to have any 3.5" EA82 Front strut extensions I could buy off you if I came by tonight?
  9. Which brings us back to... "wouldn't it be nice to have a supply of the newer gen Dual ranges?":brow:
  10. After swapping in a cheap 97 2.2L, I questioned why I didn't just do a 2.5L motor. Anyone know of a good place to locate any of the new 2.5L? I haven't looked at an OBDI harness, is the wiring that much different? The check engine light is nice to have working (if you leave things stock) lets you know when somethings not working right.
  11. Hey, I know I have been saying this, but I should beable to make this one. Where you camping at? I got your PM and hopefully I will get some time to get a harness made up. Hey I have a VW gti transmission were the diff went out in it. It is an aluminum case, do you want it?
  12. go with the obdII if you have it. I am running a 96 in mine and if you have the two sets of factory manuals the conversion isn't bad.
  13. Where in washington did you get your quote from?
  14. There are so many things that need to be checked when pulling a rearend I might suggest accidental installation errors may be responsible. No offence to anyone who had a Phatom go bad, because I am sure there is a reason why its only $300 when other brands run $800-$900.
  15. Has anyone compared the Phantom aftermarket unit and the stock LSD units? Couple of questions... 1) Does one hook up better than the other? 2) Do all stock LSD Hook up the same or are some better than others?
  16. Does this happen every Wed Night at 7? If so, is it getting too crowed or is there room for 1 more?
  17. Are you guys going to have a CB or something with ya? If so what channel? I am going to be in Palm Springs of Washington this weekend (Yakima) and was thinking about poping up there. Any way to get ahold of you guys? If not I see you're from bellingham, we should meet sometime and go for a short trail run or something.

Scott - Up just past Glacier there are some good trails. They don't get used much too much so bring a chainsaw. Plus if you like old mines there are some pretty spectacular ones. Also up off of the Mosquito lake road, pass the one way bridge, there are some simple hill climbs. There are countless other trails on Sumas and Black mountain that if you can get keys to gates are fun. I found the best way to get keys is to offer to pack out trash! I have been able to get a key for almost every area just by packing out trash and not riding on freshly replanted areas. Also if you like road trips we go to some places West of Yakima, Nachias? I never looked at the spelling of the name. Monstaru – I don’t know if I will make the Subaru show but I will probably make it over to Spokane soon. Would love to see the Monstaru! You ever get that old chev running? And what is this screwdriver you speak of?

Have any of you noticed cracked windows that start in the corners of the windshield and come out roughly at a 45 degree angle? Ever since I lifted it and started off-roading these cracks have appeared. I am assuming this is due to body Flex sooo… Has anyone put in sub-frame connectors to try to stiffen the body up at all? If so, did you set them up in the body pan (cutting involved) or just leave them flush with the bottom?
  20. Cool, thats kind what I thought, but I was just checking. I was taught that bearings break in / wear differently even if they are same, so if you mix match bearings and races your run a chance of destroying the bearings.
  21. I just completed the LSD swap into a 3.9 and then went back and read the instructions on the USMB. Ended up doing everything right but noticed it doesn't say to pull the outer bearing races for the axle stubs. Have people being doing this or have you'll been getting away with mis-matching the 3.7 bearings with the 3.9 outer races?
  22. I drove for a year without one and didn't notice any additional wear on the mounts. I just added it just 'cause. I cut an EA82 shorter and mounted it to the top of the transmission.
  23. This is going to sound weird, and I dont think others had this problem, but if i remember correctly, there is a diode that is part of the EA harness that had to be cut out, I just wired in a switch otherwise the car would just crank over, no fuel pump and no spark. I dont know if that is your problem or not. Do you have a factory wiring diagrams? I can come down tomorrow and help you locate if need be.
  24. Any places you would suggest to take them? Delta Cams?
