  1. as an owner of both vehicles I know the costs associated with each, I breifly looked into lifting my OBW when I first got it, but decided the cost wasnt worth it. I agree with you fully: the impreza is not designed for that sort of thing, fire lanes, snow, yes. I was always one to push the limits of what it was capable of, but when it really boils down to it, it is a street car with very light off road capabilites. However rugbyben was referring to subarus in general, therefore I was pointing out that older ones are perfectly capable of keeping up with the jeeps. not for 2500.00 bucks either. Not to mention they only cost around $400 to begin with, not including the Brat of course.
  2. you obviously haven't been paying attention around here, speaking for the many owners of lifted soobs I can tell you most of us havent come close to the 2500.00 mark. Since you dont own one you prob have no idea what it costs, so please refrain from wild speculation. if you would like to know more I suggest you visit the "older generation of subarus" forum btw I usually refrain from involving myself in the subaru /jeep wars as I think they are both very capable vehicles in the hands of the right driver. However sometimes when people start throwing "facts" out there with nothing to back them up, I can only take so much. oh yeah and you should see what I have done in my impreza.
  3. wow, you woulden't swap to own probably the rarest impreza in the world? thats quite a commitment. wait a minute , yours has a 163.4 mph top speed and can go 0-60 in 4.2s?!?!?!
  4. dam right! I put em in my 84 wagon two hellas plus two stock horns = REALLY FREAKING LOUD!
  5. lol curb appeal, and picking up jack-in-the-box girls.........

  7. whoa ! that stuff isn't cheap! how much did the whole job cost, if you dont mind me asking?
  8. I like it, can you get a closeup so we can see details?
  9. Well I am a little confused by your post, you first mention rally, and then start talking about lift kits, 26 inch tires and so on. Rally and off-roading are two different things, for rally you will not need a lift kit and you definatly don't want 26 " tires, the lower center of gravity is crucial for rally racing. If I were you I would ask yourself whether you want to haul rump roast around on logging roads, or drive your car on trails with rocks, logs, bogs, and countess other obstacles. once you figure that out you can decide what modifications you want. btw all the mods you listed would be perfect for offroad, except I would go for an EA-81 and no turbo. anyways welcome to the club!
  10. Eric you big tease, this years show should be interesting (you or Ken have to write some news for the site already!), at least I know some of Mike's secret plans, unless he changed em!

  22. So I meet up with General Disorder and Bugaru and his wife, and we went out mucking around scappoose. Managed to snap a few shots and vids. We had a pretty good run except for me getting stcuk twice and GD breaking first one and then both of his back axels. I thought I had escaped with no damage until on the way back we decided to do a little urban off roading and I had an nice encounter with a huge sharp chunk of concrete. Which tore a 3 inch gash in my sidewall and banged up the rim a little bit. oh well it was worth it. anyway pics are here: http://members.dsl-only.net/~sawlid/atlas/ and here are the movies: http://members.dsl-only.net/~sawlid/atlas/atlas0003.wmv http://members.dsl-only.net/~sawlid/atlas/atlas0004.wmv http://members.dsl-only.net/~sawlid/atlas/atlas0005.wmv WARNING!!: there is some profanity in the second movie
