FIXED!!! Gremlins running amok or low volts problem, help needed.
hmm, thinking about this, IIRC didnt all EA81 alts come with an internal voltage regulator? I assumed mine is internal because of this, or am I mistaken?

not to up on various names for volt testing is that checked by placing a lead on bat neg and another the alt positive charge wire? if so, yes checked out ok, reads at 11.86 (same output I am currently getting with engine on when testing pos neg bat terminals, but this is with new bat)

FIXED!!! Gremlins running amok or low volts problem, help needed.
OK I am fresh out of ideas, so its time to ask some advice. My problem is as follows: My car is not outputting the correct voltage. This is universal across the entire electrical system as everything is dim (from headlights to dash lights). With the car off battery reads at 12 V, and with a full load the bat terminals read 10-11 Volts or sometimes as low as 9V. The alternator does not seem to be charging the system, as it requires as jump next time you turn on the car (most of the time). I cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing this. Steps I have tried so far: swapped alt swapped bat (known good) swapped coil new battery terminals and fresh wires to starter and grounds(pos and neg) Cleaned up every ground to sparkly and cleaned all terminals Wired alt directly to battery with fresh wire No change. Help? oh and btw its an 1983 EA81 wagon

Clutch problem, wrong clutch maybe?
Your car should use a 225mm clutch and 1984 EA81 throwout bearing. I assume you have the 4 speed d/r tranny.

Extra Gas Tank
I just put a military jerry can holder on my back bumper, and stick it in there when I am offroading, I dont carry it around 24/7 though so im not sure if that works for you. If I were you I would do what morgan said: keep it in the cabin. just go get one of those red gas can with a sealing cap and make sure its secure. I ran with on for a long time in the trunk (of a wagon) with a tie down, never had any problems

Rainy + Bad Day at Work=
Nice! why is it that the bottom half of the trunk always stays so immaculate? same thing happens to me

places water can get in on a weber?
you do have a point about the disty Mick, definitly next on the list, interior dont matter, and wiring shoudent *cross fingers* be too badly afftected as long as I stay out of saltwater :-\ (dosent even get to the stereo inside until you got the entire hood under water, and I aint ever going that deep again *cross fingers again* )

places water can get in on a weber?
good call skip, any ideas on how to seal that? btw Morgan and chef tim: I dont think you understand what i am trying to say, there IS a hole the choke arm goes through which would be a hole on the air cleaner in a stock setup (this would not affect the vacuum of the carb given it is flowing into the AIR CLEANER) however on a snorkel, water could flow throught the same hole. you can see the thing if you pull off the top of your air cleaner

nice use of the "mud" tool

places water can get in on a weber?
not so, the carb itself is airtight but the choke housing is not. so if you have your snorkel adapter on air or water can still get in through the hole where the choke arm sits. I know because if I cover the intake entirely (witht he cover on) the engine still runs

More Video {56k i woulden't do it}
straght pipe for the exhaust, engine is fine, I think he is running 2 in pipe i think thats what he is trying to do, should make some good footage! oh we knew how deep it was, he was suffering from snorkelitis, get one and just REALLY want to push those limits. fortunatly mine aint done yet so I have no such malady. hmmm good idea, the air cleaner i am running is a snorkel adapter, shouldent have problems there, I think mick is or was running one.
