Need some help with Impreza body codes...
So I'm looking into doing a 5-lug conversion under my '89 RX (yes its older gen I know). Well I know you can use parts from Imprezas instead of XT6s even though I'd still need the XT6 control arms, rear brakes, rear hubs. Well now here's the question. Is there anything different between a GC8 Impreza and a regular '95 Impreza wagon? I mean like bolting in differences not spring rates and stuff like that. I found a '95 Impreza wagon with no motor that I can get the front struts, hubs, rotors, calipers, ball joints out of for my conversion but I don't know a thing about the differences between the body codes. I DO know that the GC8 was a 4 door WRX Impreza something-or-other. So can I bolt the aboved parts into my car from the wagon? Maybe someone could also enlighten me on the different body codes and what was different between them...

Custom 3-door taillights:) Now with PICS of install...
I would turn the lights on but there's no motor and the electrical system currently isn't hooked up. Maybe I should do that while I put the bodykit on... Yes the rear bumper has been painted with one full can of bumper black. Works great! I've had my garage door rub against it a couple times and an old Scout 80 seat rub on it as well and no scratches but the big test wll be when I get it out in the weather. The taillights have 4 coats of black paint on them, all had a nice wet sand done to them before the next coat. After that, I put on two coats of clear with a wet sand between them as well. I used the more expensive black rattle can and a can of clear, both I got from Wally World. For sanding, I used 3M, 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper.

Custom 3-door taillights:) Now with PICS of install...
ok I finally got one side done and mounted on the car. In the pic, the left is a stock taillight and on the right is the painted one I did... http://community.webshots.com/photo/302403464/322294896FWMgQp oh and don't mind the silver hatch... it has yet to be painted since I'm in need of doing some bodywork soon. Along with painting my white bodykit:rolleyes:

ea82t hatchback clutchcable
yes, the 3-door clutch cables are the same as any other EA82 powered car (RX, XT, wagon, sedan, etc.) There is ONE difference between them though. 2wd are shorter then 4wd clutch cables and aren't as strong. So as long as the one you're taking from the XT is the same as the 3-door (2wd - 2wd, 4wd - 4wd) then you're gonna be in good shape

Show and tell day
Skip, just gimme a holler when/if you need any parts for that fine specimen of a gen 1 Brat. I still got quite a few parts left over. Nice score! Cheers!

Poll: Head gasket blow'age, which side?
1-3 on my RX but I also had 2-4 gone as well. Both could be seen clear as day so without a doubt, they were both blown.

5-lug questions for the gurus
so then the parts mentioed above would work since this is a '95 Impreza wagon I believe.

Its almost HERE!!!
nope it aint gonna be painted until I get the bodywork done on the car so I can paint it as a whole. I still have a silver hatch from a parts car, lol Yes pics will come as soon as I get it...

Its almost HERE!!!
hehehe I'm so excited. The bodykit I bought from Nug arrives today via the big brown truck. I'm so excited, I can't sleep because I have to work tonight. I know I should sleep but I'm anxious to put it on and see how sweet its gonna look here in the next few weeks. Now I just need to become unlazy and order my clutch and TWE header since I got the money... :burnout:

5-lug questions for the gurus
So I know that the XT6 stuff will bolt right in however I do remember Tex saying GC8 Impreza stuff will work like brakes and struts. Now my question might seem kinda dumb but what exactly does the "GC8" stand for? Could I use the brakes, spindles, struts, etc. out of a '95 Impreza wagon? Then all I would need would be new tie rod ends and control arms, plus the rear rotors, hubs, and backing plates I think.

Att, Tailgatewagon! (updated 4/19)
Ehhh no long distance on my landline.... PM me and we can take care of this. I know all about being lazy to ship stuff, there's a couple people that know that I can get lazy and hung up on other things like work.

Att, Tailgatewagon! (updated 4/19)
yes Brian, I too am still awaiting my seals. Please get back to us, even if you can't make it down to the post office, just let us know. I know that I have my problems with trying to get stuff shipped since I can't really walk a million blocks to the UPS store...

Gen 1 Brat Questions.
any hub from late '77 to '79 wagon/sedan/coupe and late '77 to '81 Brats I believe. If you have a metal lathe and a welder, just mod some EA81 control arms to fit in. Basically you'd just need to make new stabilizer bars that are the same length as the stock EA71 stabilizers. I modded EA81 hubs/control arms/vented brakes into my '79 wagon and it wasn't too hard. If you'd like more info, just PM me and I can get ya some pics of the ones I made:D

rwd brumbies
basically what Bob said is right. Nothing to it really, just about an hour worth of work and you'll have a cool burnout machine! My '78 is RWD and is going to stay that way. Here's a pic of it before I started tearing it down to make it into a minitruck http://community.webshots.com/photo/302432023/302440514UGlHiu

first autocross
cool! Where was it being held at? I might wanna come and do one once the RX is done but that'll be into the summer probably... Oh and I'm planning on comin up to get those windows sometime soon. When would be a good time/day to do that? Maybe in a couple weeks so I can get it off from work:D
-
RWD brumby = lighter steering?
I didn't notice any difference in my steering since I drove my '78 Brat with no front axles for about 4 months. Just did the coolest burnouts evAr:drunk:

Don't send a RX bodykit via UPS From VA to WY
HOLY BEGEEZUS MAN!!!!! Thats incredible!!! I think I spent like 32 bucks to send 3 packages via the "Big Brown Truck". One to the east coast, one to Washington, and one to Oregon. Two had car parts in them and the other was late Christmas presents and birthday presents to my family... BUT Heh, me have a bodykit soon though:banana:

Custom 3-door taillights:) Now with PICS of install...
well I can't ge the friggin old one out to put this one in. The glue/adhesive stuff is so cold, it won't let go and I don't have a heat gun to try and loosen it from the body. So until I can do that, it won't be going on the car:(

Custom 3-door taillights:) Now with PICS of install...
The light wasn't straight on when I took the pic. Its sitting kinda slanted to one side. Trust me, they're straight as an arrow. I spent about 2 hours getting them perfect before I painted them. Oh and the taillight was broken to begin with so if I messed up, it wouldn't be a big loss:rolleyes:

Leone diesel!!??
it became my Rabbit and yes it seemed gutless but it pushed my buddies '86 Scirroco back to his house about 3 blocks after I installed the big bumper kit. I'm not sure what redline is since they never came with a tach in the Rabbits unless it was the Rabbit GTD (basically a diesel version of the GTI). I also installed a GTI dash into it, GTI front seats and very nice black carpet.
