  1. Meh its half melted inside the cylinder walls. It should work!
  2. Just a thought but maybe Mark's idea might work? Like I said, just a thought:D
  3. I bet ya its probably a motor from a 2wd car. The 2wds had a different disty and thus having a different cap and rotor. I would have to agree by taking them into a parts store and having them match them up but I bet ya a million bucks that its a 2wd disty...
  4. no I haven't but its on the bottom of the heads as well.....I'll check once I can get the uppipe off.
  5. its an '89 RX coupe. It has the 4EAT in it. If you want I can give you the vin # also so you can add it to your list on your website Corky:D
  6. so I had stuck a battery into my RX a few days ago and cranked it over. Thats all it did since the battery was DEAD! So I hooked Andrew's Dodge up to it and let her charge for a few minutes while I did some last things to get it into more of a running order. Since I was just going to see if it would start, I didn't think I needed to replace the waterpump yet since I currently have broken my bank. So I hooked the tranny cooler lines back up, fixed the cut fuel line, and hoped in. It cranked for a few seconds before I let off of the key. I tried it again and about 6 revs it fired up and ran for about 2 seconds. Granted it was 2 seconds, but this is a nice big step forward on this project. But I need to replace the gas tank and put some good gas in it and it will run hopefully......Now on to get parts!
  7. thanks for all the helpful info guys! Now I can go get me the cheaper waterpump;) Its like 20.69 or something about that:D
  8. ahh ok so I'm going to need the taller one since my pulle has 4 holes in it, and when I ut it on the pump, the studs stick out quite a ways...
  9. so how do these "timeserts" work? What needs to be done when you do it and what does it require? Maybe this would be a good idea with my new motor when I do the TWE up pipe and downpipe, TD04 turbo, cams, etc. The list goes on and on and on....and the price gets bigger and bigger and bigger:rolleyes:
  10. well I suspect blown headgaskets on my RX since my waterpump is shot to h*** and back. It doesn't have any water in the oil, oil in the radiator, water in the combustion chambers, I can't really tell if there's water in the exhaust from a cracked head but it DOES have gen 2 heads on it. There is something though. There's a white residue from what appears to be dried antifreeze on th uppipe under the motor. Now on futher inspection, I noticed that there's a spot on the bottom of the head where the headgaskets is right in the center that has this same white residue on it. Its a spot about an inch long and it apears to be on both sides. Do these headgaskets blow out here? I thought it was kinda weird myself but I wasn't sure, thus me asking this question. I can get some pics of it if need be. This motor from the looks of it has never been overheated since the timing belt covers aren't melted at ALL and none of the bolts came stripping out when I removed the covers like ANdrew's turbowagon which has about 40k miles LESS then mine. Any thoughts?
  11. well my waterpump has 4 studs coming out of it. Thats the only style I've seen on any EA82 motor. I've done work on an '86 turbosedan, an '87 turbowagon, an '86 XT4 MPFI nonturbo, and a few others. Do you mean on your waterpump that it has 8 studs coming out of it instead of 4? Weird.....
  12. well my waterpump in my RX is like totally shot so I was calling around on prices and one place said that there's a difference in them height wise. The shorter one is more expensive then the longer one. What would my '89 RX have? The shorter one or the longer one? Another place I called asked if it was a coupe and I said yes and there were no different length waterpumps that I had to choose from, just a new one or a remand one. What a weird day....
  13. dude I LOVE the autocross pic. That is SAWEET!!!! Oh and like what was said before yeah you ARE my hero!!! Keep on truckin man!
  14. so any thoughts on what you blew? You just said oil everywhere but not from where..... so is this now Subaru:20 million, WJM:0:clap:
  15. Slow Under Boost, Retarded As Usual I bet I can come up with some better ones but right now, I'm on about 4 hours of sleep.....
  16. well I don't think length is an issue. I might have to agree with the CV shaft being different but thats what I wasn't sure on...
  17. So I'm writing another thing for the USRM about EA82 axles and I have all the info I need except for the XT6 axles. How are these different from other axles? Why are they needed for the 5-lug conversion? I know there's people out there that know this one.....
  18. my $0.02 is that its great that someone os finally doing this! Its about friggin time. Now if they only do one bolt pattern and a bunch of you guys want a different one, fear not! Its called a drill, some measuring and VOILA! Now it'll fit any wheel you want!
  19. mmmm rea ebrake, I'm interested in this one. It should make my RX fun to drive as well..... Best bet is pull the plugs and turn it over to see if anything comes shooting out. If not, get the gauge on there and check the compression. Still good you might say? I know where you can get an EJ20T........ just kidding:D
  20. no you're right, I caught that and was gonna say something about it but someone else got to it before me! Here's a few more... TB - Throttle Body TMIC - Top Mount Intercooler FMIC - Front mount Intercooler IC - Intercooler Rex - WRX FT4WD - Full Time 4 Wheel Drive PT4WD - Part Time 4 Wheel Drive FWD - Front Wheel Drive RWD - Rear Wheel Drive Oh and "Rice" is a all show, no go....no matter what it is. Everything from a Toyota Paseo to a Honda to some WRX's. It don't matter what kind of car it is, its the person who owns it, even if they don't have the money for a new Civic, they'll find an old 80's Accord and rice it out.....
  21. so the downpipe coming off of the turbo can clear it
  22. yeah I'm kinda goin through the same deal with my conversion from the stock '78 Brat cluster to my '87 Honda Accord cluster. Tryin to figure it all out and I don't have the FSM for the Honda so I'm following the whole dash and tryin to lay it out. Glad to see someone decided to do this and do a write-up on it. I'll put this in the USRM for everyone:D
  23. well I'm planning on doin this same kind of swap into my RX since its the 4EAT auto (4-speed, electronic auto) so this is what I have for a list so far... transmission - for me its the dual range full time 4wd with diff lock crossmember - it has to be from any 4wd EA82 shift linkage for the stated tranny you use pedal cluster from a manual EA82 car clutch cable - different between 2wd and 4wd models clutch and flywheel instrument cluster center console driveshaft I think There might be some other stuff I forgot and anyone can chime in if they'd like since I need to do this swap as well:D
  24. yeah I'd like to know as well. I plan on moddin my RX but just want to know some figures of kinda a stock setup does:)
  25. I'm seein that he used a cut off wheel so my guess is that he cut the springs. Now me on the other hand, I didn't want to ruin my nice stock Brat springs so I just pulled them out!
