  1. yeah Andrew has experience in popped freeze plugs:D The 83 hatchback I bought from him had that same problem when he got it. After we fixed it and got it running, I retuned the carb and it ran like a champ. Then I cleaned it, found a whole bunch of rust and traded it for my 79 wagon:)
  2. yeah if it was a Synchro, I think it would be worth a LOT more though. I wouldn't mind it if it was a Synchro but I'd still pimp it even 2wd:D
  3. As for fuel injecting my 1600, I'd machine an EA81 intake and make it fit and put the injectors in the heads. *shrugs* I dunno, I just want the damn thing runnin first:rolleyes:
  4. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15291&item=2463200164 I thought this would be pimpin. I could see some people drivin this around......with a big BOV and an intercooler:D
  5. Thanks for the info Miles I appreciate it:D If anyone else has any ideas lemme know.
  6. when every SUbaru you see you yell "PARTS" as loud as you can and point. People give you weird looks when you do this to their car:D
  7. it will be a direct bolt in BUT there are a few items you'll have to move around. One is your TPS if I remember. There are also a few other things but I can't remember. Try doin a searh for the spider intake conversions. As for the ECM, I don't see why it wouldn't plug right in but I don't see if there would be a difference between the two. If you can, get the connectors for the wiring harness that plugs into the parts that go onto the intake itself, there could be a difference between them. One person to ask might be SubaruTex. I know he put a turbo spider intake onto his RX and there were a few electrical things he had to take care of.
  8. So I know that some people that are building high compression EA81's use 1600 pistons in them. Well my question is would 1800 pistons fit in a 1600 and drop the compression? I'm thinking about modifying an EA81T manifold, putting injectors in it like an EA82T and mounting it on my 1600. I just had this idea earlier and I was just wondering it it would work? Then I would have an EA71T:D EDIT: If I can't do this, how hard and which how much machining would it take to fit EA81T heads on an EA71?
  9. I have to say that this is one nice hatchback......now go out and show it what wheelin is all about:D
  10. or maybe a full front end bra? I'd like to get one myself for the wagon:D I'd have to get it custom though due to the shaved bumpers and the air dam:P
  11. I haven't done a lot of air ride but if for some reason, you do decide to get rid of it and do coil overs, I wouldn't mind taking the air bags off yer hads:D
  12. I agree with Keith. The bottom end doesn't matter but the heads and the way the MAF is set up will be different and the 87-89 EA82ts are a little easier to work with and are more reliable.......Also the have more power:D
  13. sounds like you've got one project after another Austin. I hope everything goes good for ya:D
  14. The disty in my 79 is an 84 4wd electronic disty. I think its a Nippendenso. I can get pics of it tomorrow because my digital camrea is dead. All I did was pull off the ballast resistor (white box on coil) and there's also another box on the coil if I can remember that is metal that you also remove. Then its a matter of hooking it up (2 wires) to the coil and BAM its done. It was pretty easy when I finally figured it out:D
  15. but if you want to keep the same axles and rear diff, you have to find an RX with the dual range 5-speed BUT the only years that the RX came with that tranny was in 85 and 86. When they redid the RX in 87.5, that changed to a full time 4wd dual range 5-speed with diff lock
  16. *jumps into car* *drives to the east coast* *runs back to the store* *gets some beer* *goes back to Paul's house* *work on Soobs and drinks beer* *drives back to west coast* *drinks more beer* *goes to bed* man I wish it was that easy cause I'd be over there in a heartbeat:D
  17. There's a lady right down the street from me that also has a 79 Brat with a few dings old paint (white) and a stock pushbar and she wants 2k for it!?!?!?! If ya bring it to my house, I'll trade you an 86 GL-10 turbosedan 4wd:D
  18. it shouldn't be too hard to do, just a few screws and it should come right on out. As for putting different needles in, I'm pretty sure they pop right on off the pegs but the only problem with that is you have to make sure that the guages stay in the same spot or else it could throw off the accuracy of them Also, what year Camaro did you have and how hard was it to put LED's in it?
  19. if you do decide to use some sort of block sealer, whatever you do, be careful to NOT overheatd it or heat the motor up beyond normal operating temp or else it will break the sealer and then....no more sealer. I have to agree with everyone else on it being either a blown headgasket or a bad head but I think its more of a headgasket problem because I don't think EA82 heads would just do that if the temp doesn't exceed the operating temp
  20. pretty sure they're lit by just a regular light not a fluorecent light. Just take the digidash out and there should be a bunch of lights in the back sticking out. Not really sure cause I haven't had a lot of experience with digidashes but thats just my $.02
  21. looks like you guys had a fun filled day with the Soobs and the Ford. Glad to hear that nothing was majorly broken and no one was injured....including the Soob:D
  22. its a good idea to replace the timing belts unless you just replaced them. If you do go with Genuine Subaru timing belts or else you'll end up replacing them in a few thousand miles. As for lifting the engine out, if you have about 3 or 4 strong friends, its possible but it would be a lot easier and faster to do it with a engine lift. Aslo, if you plan on lifting it, why would you wanna go with the same size tires? I'd get a set of 14" Pug steels and put some offroad tires on them OR get a set of 6-lug Chevy rims and redrill them to fit the Subaru lug pattern. As for the turbo, there's no really cheap way to get around this. You can either find one in a j/y with low miles on it, find one on ebay or you can rebuild it yourself but the rebuild kit is 150 bucks alone.......
  23. Todd- not quite sure what you're saying but I think I get it. I want to use the seats that have the foot peddle thingy from the back that passengers in the rear can get out of the back seat. You know, the one thats located at the bottom left corner of the seat. I'll see if I can get a pic of it if it helps anyone. I'm gonna go to the yards today looking for parts and I know where there's a set of Brat seats that I'm gonna see about picking up.
