EA82 Cruise Control
Should be the dealer installed cruise. If its not working, make sure the vacuum chamber under the hood (will be a big black ball bolted to the passengt side strut tower) and if it does, you might want to check the clock spring under the steering wheel. And since I gotten 3 PMs so far, no I am not going to sell my cruise control setup! Its getting installed in my RX currently.

1997 Subaru Legacy 2.5 NOT 2.2
Caboobaroo replied to lefty2053's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXJust because you look under the car doesn't mean if you have them or not. They're usually in the upper half of the exhaust pipe to keep them from hitting on stuff. There should be one located in the top of the first cat which can be seen under the hood on the passenger side. Follow the back of the engine closest to the bellhop sing and you should see the sensor sticking up. The second one depends on year of vehicle. Sometimes they are sticking up from the second cat and connect close to the first sensor's pigtail. They also can be under the car pointing out of the exhaust toward the butt of the driver. This one come up along the driver side of the transmission and crosses over the top of the transmission bell housing and plugs into the harness on the passenger side.

New clutch slips, how to float gears?
Just have to ask to rule it out.... Did you make sure that the clutch disc isn't in backwards? Been a few years since I did an EA clutch and don't remember if it's possible.

Ej20g gl-10 problems code 11
I'm coming up with a crank sensor/harness issue. Check the connector where it plugs into the harness, check the wiring with an ohm meter from the pigtail where the sensor plugs in to the ecu plug. Also check all your grounds to make sure they're tight.

Rear speaker size in an '87 GL coupe
I have 6 1/2" Pioneers in the back of my RX. I don't think I had to do anything to get them to fit either, at least nothing extreme.

CV Joints & Boots Replacement; Split Boots?
Caboobaroo replied to Jaimesbeam's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOnce they start making noise, it's too late. I don't replace axles with torn boots that aren't making noise. They get new Empi boots, grease, clamps and back into the car it goes!

'09 Fuel Filter?
Caboobaroo replied to subsince77's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYeah the cut off for an external filter was 2004/2005. It's now in tank and I have yet to see a bad filter. Heck I haven't even seen a bad pump in one of these newer cars.... But on the bright side is they are very easy to remove and install. There should be a access plate under the floor behind the rear seat, which after removal of that, the couple fuel lines and electrical connector, it'll unbolt and come right out.

97' Impreza Steering Rack Replacement
Caboobaroo replied to palfer's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYes, I typically have the car on the rack with very light pressure on the wheels to help bleed out the system.

Gas Mileage tune up.
Caboobaroo replied to starfox5194's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWhat was done during the tune up, as far as what was replaced. What parts were used to replace the parts that were replaced?

ej22 with ej25 phase II heads
Seems you know your Subarus so this will be easy for me to explain. The XT6 had an ER27, which is an EA82 with two more cylinders, but still had 2 timing belts like the EA82. The EZ30 flat 6 is the one you're thinking of. It has a timing chain setup and is roughly based on the EJ design. As for a XT turbo, only if it's decent shape. Granted, it still has an EA82T in it but that can be swapped for an EJ20G, or an EJ257......

1999 Outback Legacy - intermittent stalling
Caboobaroo replied to agentargo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMay I ask who is your mechanic if you're willing to divulge that information. I actually work for an independent Subaru shop in the Seattle area so I might be able to help you out.

97' Impreza Steering Rack Replacement
Caboobaroo replied to palfer's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSounds like you have some air still in the system. Does the pump make noise at all?

EA82 Cruise Control
I have a complete cruise kit from my '87 GL and I will see if there's a part number on it. It had a large black ball bolted to the passenger side strut tower, buttons on the steering wheel, brain behind the driver side kick panel, and the electrical harness was a plug and play, like a dealer install option. I will try and get some pics when the weather lets up.

Seattle area machine shop recommendation
Brad at Xact machine. I can't remember his number but we use him all the time for our Subaru heads. He's located in Bothell just off of 405.

PLEASE Advise-2002 OBS Overheating
Caboobaroo replied to methusalah's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWhen were they replaced, if ever. Even if they were replaced with OEM gaskets, they will fail eventually.

Backup lights inop
Caboobaroo replied to BACK UP LITES's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'm willing to bet it needs a switch, The end is plastic where it rides on the shifter rod and they will flat spot after awhile, causing them to come on briefly then go back off. Pull the switch to verify but I bet that's the issue.

cv axle question 2000 forester
Caboobaroo replied to 86subaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDouble check to make sure you have the ABS tone ring behind the hub instead of on the axle. If they both do (which I'm positive the '95 does) then they will work.

Loyale 5 Lug swap; my list...
I used XT6 outer tie rod ends and have just enough movement before they bottom out to get the alignment I wanted.

Any Opinions out there on brake parts?
Why not upgrade to the vented front EA81 calipers and rotors, then do a rear disc brake swap from an EA82 and install an adjustable proportioning valve and done. She will stop on a dime:headbang:
