  1. Maybe we'll have to go get a beer afterwards or something:grin:
  2. Nope no more Wyoming winters after 3 years. Which RX? The black '89 RX or the '87 RX imposter I have?
  3. And people that will know anything and everything. I have a collection of Subaru FSMs for cars I've never even owned but I have them for reference!
  4. What are the numbers Frank? I believe you can do a reversed lookup on that site.
  5. I just scrapped my old '79 waogn that had all the woodgrain trim on it...
  6. I have that same kit for my car but haven't put it in yet since I'm being lazy.
  7. I checked my oil the other day and there was none on the dipstick:eek: SHe never had any issues though and I topped it up and kept going. I've done a 9 hour round trip down to my parents house and back along with a lot of driving around town. Starts up ever time and doesn't give me any headaches. I did front brakes and a CV axle on it today since I've been driving on the axle with a torn boot for 4500 miles with clicking. It finally got worse a month ago and so I got to replacing it today:-p
  8. Wanna trade? I'll soon have a '89 4runner in need of a 3.0 and an auto tranny but its in good shape and has the removable top!:-p
  9. With me, I don't really need a carrier bearing since I'm lowered so the angle won't be as bad as if it was a lifted rig. I think I'm going to go with a single aluminum driveshaft with the correct slip yoke and U-joint on the ends of it and I'll make sure that it'll have replaceable U-joints in it too. As far as balance goes, if I have any issues, I can send it to Morgan Hill, CA to my dad's best friend who is the only guy on the west coast the Navy will have balance driveshafts for their submarines;)
  10. Well what are we waiting for? I told ya I'd help ya with it:-p
  11. well I made it from some metal from a bed frame and did it kinda half assed. I'll see if I can get a pic of it when its in the air when I do the struts on Tuesday. One side is welded to the car, the other is bolted in since while I was welding the one side in, I kinda caught the carpet on fire:Flame:
  12. Since I'm plannin on doing the swap this spring, been thinking about it more recently and I have a quick question. Since we have a 2 piece driveshaft and the front section needs to be shortened, why can't we go with a single piece? Since my car never came with 4wd, I had to "fab" up a carrier bearing mount that is good for the SPFI motor but won't hold up to the EJ power in any way. So single piece driveshaft or shortened 2 piece with a new carrier bearing mount? I can get a custom one piece made since I got a decent hook up through work now.
  13. the E71 heads are from an EA71 or the 1600cc motor. Now there's two different heads per say. One head is for the standard EA71 from the 70's and then there's the fat case EA81 which is basically an EA81 version of the EA71.
  14. service manuals my friend. I'll get some pics when I can!
  15. Maybe we should hunt down some more hotties in Toyota Celicas on the freeway again:-p See you round bud! I know you will be;)
  16. I've been snatching most of the FF1 manuals on ebay:-p I have 6 different ones now:banana:
  17. If it helps any, I heated up the coolant line with a cheapo blow torch and bent it to where I needed it to go. Worked fine for me.
  18. this is because you're is an 83 and its supposed to do that. My old RX would cycle the fuel pump without it running all day long. Its the way it was designed.
  19. Nope, undo the axle nut and it slides off the splines. So I had a thought on this whole deal. Since we basically can't get hubs, why not make them, we have the pieces to do it! It would require making a jig to hold everything in place while it was welded and then made sure it was true but why don't we try taking the splined center from the old 4-lug setup and welding on the 5-lug top? It would definatly take some time and some skill but as I see it, we're starting to run out of options. Another thought, does the EJ rear hub slide onto the EA rear axle? If so, then why don't we machine down the EJ rear hub (on the back where it touches the wheel bearings) to the same height as the ER hubs?
  20. ^^ Thats basically what it is! In the START position, the fuel pump gets its power from the ignition until the key is released to ON when it gets its power through the voltage regulator. If you have alternator problems, then it'll only run for a couple seconds and die (long enough to get the bowl to fill up when cranking, then to empty the bowl since the fuel pump shuts off).
  21. Then after you leave Florida, you're gonna make a short detour through Washington before heading back home?
  22. get the non ammonia based window cleaner. It'll be in a pressurized can like spray paint and will spray out foam instead of liquid. Should get the nasty residue off the window.
  23. What will happen is the oil will drastically reduce the life span of ANY timing belt. The oil breaks down the timing belt to the point of becoming weak, then one day when merging onto a freeway and putting more then normal stress on the weak belt, it snaps. It would have happened regardless if it was an OEM belt or a NAPA belt.
  24. No it is NOT an RX but its better then one since it doesn't have the awesomeness of the EA82T:rolleyes: Still has the RX gearbox, rear trailing arms and LSD from my old RX, turbo crossmember from my old RX and then the complete 5-lug conversion made up of 3 different cars now.:-p
  25. I will but it'll be a few years down the road. Maybe never since I don't know if I'll ever get rid of this car:-p
