  1. Yes, I'm bumpin an old thread so shoot me. Tex, did you ever get one to work and if so, what little tricks were needed? I keep forgetting to ask you every time I see you which is another reason why I'm bringing this back...
  2. I took the stud out of the uppipe flange from the stock EA82 header, welded the hole shut and smoothed it out, then rewelded the stud back into the correct location for the turbo. I then used a Megan Racing 3" bellmouth downpipe and it fit in the stock location just fine.
  3. dareon, time to step back and take a quick breather, I know how it is bud. Firstly, did you put any grease or anti sieze on the splines? This will help it later down the road when it comes time to do it again because inevitably, its a Subaru thing.... Second, I also know that it is very easy to get them 180 out and break everything off inside of it and then having to drill it out using 4 different drill bits because 2 broke off inside the roll pin hole as well. Yes, I've been down THAT exact rough road. Not very pleasant. Also the roll pin's job is to keep the DOJ from sliding off of the diff stub, NOT to keep it in place which is why it has splines. I used a zip tie for 600 miles because I was too lazy to get in there and replace it with a roll pin because it worked. Only time it'll want to try and slide off with force is when its turned to the lock and even then its not enough force to break a zip tie so a nail should be ok. I've even used a nail as a cotter pin on an axle nut.
  4. My coupe "thinks" its sporty but mainly because I made it so. For a good commuter, I'm gonna agree with GD on this one. While the EA82 is not bad for a commuter (I use mine everyday), the Legacys are much nicer and more comfortable then the EA82 cars. That and there's a little aftermarket parts for them along with the 5x100 bolt pattern.
  5. That is a factory SOA bike rack I took off of a '86 GL wagon. I also have the brand new SOA ski attachment which is still in the box with keys and is big enough for one snowboard:banana:
  6. I'm waitin for one from SubaruJunkie to give it a bit more "class":-p 85T-REX: search function FTW!
  7. Umm its a bit more complex then that. I'm also running a complete 5x100 coversion on this as well, which is why it bolts in. Plus I had to put the tophat from the EA82 strut onto the Impreza strut. Read my write-up http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50400
  8. downpipes are totally different. You'd need to put a flange from the stock IHI RB5 downpipe onto it. Uppipe flange is similar, rear stud needs to be moved back like 1/2"
  9. It is similar to the TD04 uppipe flange but nothing except the EA81Ts share the same downpipe.
  10. No part numbers just the el cheapo coilovers for an '93-'01 Impreza from ebay. No modifications needed either but I'm also running Impreza struts in the front as well as RX rear shocks (same as any EA82). Coilovers slip over in place of the stock coils and adjust as needed.
  11. Its the coils and adjustable sleaves. Look kinda like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-03-04-SUBURU-IMPREZA-JDM-COILOVER-SPRINGS-SPRING-KIT_W0QQitemZ330193215911QQihZ014QQcategoryZ33586QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Here's a pic of mine
  12. The reason why I would go this route is so you can do the brake upgrades and such instead of keeping the stock 4x140mm brakes. I would weld up the original holes from the 4x140mm lug pattern, mill the hub flat except for the eccentric ring for the rotor and then drill new holes.
  13. I do have a vid right after I got the engine running. Its actually the first time I tried to fired up the car! Here's the vid http://rides.webshots.com/video/3057704240067339125SSoyCq Ebay coilovers are the cheapo ones for a '93-'01. Rear camber on that side is a bit thwacked out and I've been too lazy to fix it yet. Not much but enough to look it.
  14. Well you have to realize what exactly I have done to this car. Its not a "true" RX but close enough to one that it basically IS one. Car is a true '87 GL coupe. 3AT FWD automatic with a SPFI EA82. Engine was replaced with another SPFI engine since the original was blown, 3AT was swapped for an RX gearbox, rear LSD and RX suspension, full 5-lug conversion with ebay coilovers, black RX front and rear bumpers and other doodads here and there. Original car:
  15. In the garage since I don't want to put them on before I get the car painted. My bodykit would look 10x better then the rest of the car:rolleyes: Tint is 35% on the front windows and 15% on the back quarters and rear hatch.
  16. yes taking the 4x140mm pieces and having a setup to convert those into 4x100, 5x100 and so on would be the way to do it. Hardest part about the 5-lug conversion is the need of rear XT6 hubs so if you could get some 4x140mm rear hubs and convert those to the 5x100, you'd be set.
  17. Got a nice tint job done a few weeks ago but weather was poor to get pics until last week. Took it out for a bit of a shoot on Juanita point in Kirkland with my awesome Kodak camera:rolleyes: So here's a few pics starting with my favorite to show the Hella Supertones off! And of course, my favorite from the Hatch Patrol Xmas tree run!
  18. Umm yes, especially since I do alignments for a living;)
  19. I had the same problem... My stock horn was dying (high note was dead, low note sounded sick. So I resolved that problem! Hella Supertones are awesome!
  20. Umm part time turbo cars were still a 3.7 though.....
  21. Galen, now that you did that, it needs an alignment. The 3 bolts that you took out of the trailing arms are actually the rear toe adjustments. So, better get on that whole alignment thing. I gotta do the back end of my coupe for the same reason. My rear toe is out of spec and its a real b**** to adjust it:rolleyes:
  22. Ebay might be the best place... also check www.thepartsbin.com
  23. What if you unbolt the engine crossmember from the car and the suspension that bolts to the unibody and drop out the engine/tranny/suspension as one unit and strip it down outside the car? Just a thought...
