  1. Jerry, you need an alignment... better bring it out to Washington to have me do that for ya since I'm now the head alignment tech at my shop:banana:
  2. yup and I heard from GLCraigGT that someone in a Mustang one night not too long ago, plowed into the portion of his lot that happens to have his older Subarus like his lifted hatch. Probably totaled 2 or 3 of them unfortunatly... Stupid drivers:mad:
  3. Well to be honest, I've been into Subarus since the summer of '03 so 4 years of having tons of Subarus, mostly parts cars but most of them ran and such.... Plus I also have/had a bunch of other cars from 2 '88 Camaros to a '76 Triumph:rolleyes:
  4. Bush, chill man. I bought a '89 RX, a black RX, from a junkyard and in the 2 years I owned it, I drove it 100 miles because I blew the engine in it 3 times.... I bought the car for $150 and after 2 years, and 3 engines (plus a 4EAT -> manual swap, complete 5-lug swap, mass amounts of parts like TD04 turbo, Delta cams, and so on), I stripped it of what it was worth and it went back the the scrap yard...... Yes, it is a love/hate relationship but I've owned a good 20 Subarus or so and I'm still going. Don't know why/how though:lol:
  5. Is the little wire that goes from the ignition to the starter connected? I sometimes forget to reconnect it until I try to start it:rolleyes:
  6. its easy! The easiest way to do it is to remove the engine (which sounds like a lot but its not). First off, unbolt the y-pipe from the bottom of the engine. Then remove the radiator and hoses from the front of the engine bay. Then disconnect the 2 heater hoses, throttle cable, disty wires, alternator wires, main engine harness (2 small plugs), clutch cable and pitch stopper. Then unbolt the tranny and engine from one another, unbolt the engine from the crossmember and pull it out. Replace clutch and stuff it back in just the opposite of removal:banana: Fairly simple really, I can have that engine out of there in 20 minutes:headbang:
  7. Yeah GL-10s could come with various drivetrain setups but mostly came with a EA82T under the hood. I have seen a SPFI 2wd 5-speed GL-10 wagon before. Oh and if you need those parts, lemme know... just collecting dust
  8. When I couldn't find Section 6 for my '87 FSM, Edrach told me about books4cars.com and I went there. Found it for $48 or so but I needed it to complete my set and no one wanted to part out a set for me.
  9. What kind of problems are you having? I swapped my '87 GL coupe from a FWD 3AT automatic to a RX manual gearbox. Granted, my backup lights don't work and I had to wire up my diff lock to work as well, plus rewire the RX guage cluster to work properly....
  10. Some people just don't know when not to speak. First off Hitachis are a real PITA but Carter-Webers are even more of a pain. A regular Weber like a 32/36 are easy and a great upgrade for our little Subies. On the EA71 however, it needs to be rejetted to something a bit smaller because the EA71 doesn't have quite the fuel consumption as the EA81 which would flood it out. I had this problem on my old EA71 because I had it adjusted up too rich. The same adapter plate used for the EA81 can be used for the EA71 as well. I ran a Holley 5200 (made by Weber) which I rejetted to a 28/32 but it ran a bit richer because I was also running a JDM high compression EA71 which was much quicker then my stock EA71 but it only like to run with Plus in it:rolleyes:
  11. The headlights (dual or quad) were an option. Duals were standard but you could upgrade to the quad sealed beams. Looks good stumpy! Makes me miss my Brat though:-\
  12. I love pics of cars gutted for more awesomeness! I'll add a pic of my car during the 5-lug conversion... Can't wait to see how this thing looks when its done.
  13. Did someone say drunk? IBtheUSMBdrunk:banana: Which is why I'm probably drunk right now, woohoo!
  14. Spark, we'll have to get together sometime soon if I can find some spare time... I got your number!
  15. I do have a complete passenger side suspension and axle here at my place. Fairly new axle (23 spline) and newer strut (Gabriel IIRC). Come get them out of my garage and you can have them!
  16. Yup, EA82T FTL.... Especially when I saw Suberdave's EJ20G:slobber: And this post is brought to you by the USMB drunk!
  17. wasn't that boot cracked like 2 years ago dufus? I remember you told me about it a long time ago (right after you moved back to Oregon I think) and how it was cracked.
  18. STi intercoolers are much bigger then stock WRX ones. This is why they go for so much (roughly $300 or so) because they're an upgrade. As far as benefitting, probably not at this stage in the game.
  19. What I was meaning was the back of the tranny, where the driveshaft for a 4wd rig would come out. I know he know's where it is cause he had a 4wd RX;)
  20. Get under it and grab the tailshaft housing (or where the driveshaft for a 4wd would come out) and see how much the tranny moves when you wrench it around. It sounds like the tranny mount is shot causing the tranny to hit the tunnel.
  21. looks like a hunk of metal and rust..... Where the finished results? Kidding... Lookin good man. Mine looked about the same but it was mostly assembled when I put it into my coupe. I also swapped my engine crossmember too so I had the turbo corssmember already for the turbo EJ swap eventually.
  22. There was an '39 Peugeot on ebay a few days ago. It went for a ton of $$$! Very sweet looking car though:slobber:
  23. the car I got my intake off of didn't have a knock sensor. I looked but it was just the hole like on an SPFI block. So I busted out the wiring diagrams and went to work. I figured out where it went to in the harness and had to repin a couple wires to make it all work.
  24. I had a spider on my RX but it came from a NA '88 XT. I added a coolant line for the turbo, and had to repin the knock sensor since the XT intake didn't have it. Other then that I had no issues. It ran decent when it was 10 degrees outside and when it was 50 degrees outside up to the point of overheating:rolleyes:
  25. SPFI FTW? Ahh yes, SPFI FTW! Thats all I got:-p
