  1. This site is awesome for getting that last section of a FSM you've been searching for forever. I was looking for section 6 of the 1987 FSM for the coupe/wagon/sedan to complete my set but couldn't find one. So Edrach recommend them in another post so I went and took a look. I paid almost $50 for the book but its something I needed. Its used but the pages aren't torn and is in pretty decent condition.
  2. Rob, you know i'll be movin up there in less then 2 months. I'll give ya a hand fixin them with ya. Besides, I'm a little sad that I gave up on my black RX but I went to something a little nicer. Just hold onto them. I bet some of the baord members could give you a helping hand getting them back onto the road.
  3. So today is Friday. I got a test batch of paint done for my car. I mixed the stock silver color in 1/2 pint, then I started tinting it to my pleasure. I added in 50 grams of coarse flake aluminum to it, 5.5 grams of blue pearl (same as whats in the OBP), and 1 gram of bright blue. This was enough to take that original 1/2 pint, give it more of a metal flake appearance and a nice blue tint that when the car is driving dow the road and the sun hits it just right, it'll give it a blue flash, then back to it silver color. Its going to have a great flop to it:banana:
  4. Well I wasn't going to post any pics of the paint work but here's a teaser pic for everyone. These are the 2 rear spats of the bodykit, the rest of it is all in primer and waiting for me to get a chance to spray them, maybe this weekend.... Remember, these are in OBP but you can't really tell until they're outside in the daylight... mmmmmm hot! They also have 3 coats of a show quality clear on them too!
  5. I can do that I think. I believe my Saturday to work in April is the 28th but I'll have to double check that. It'll also give me enough time for me to get the new paint buffed out to a nice show quality shine since I'm using show quality clearcoat on it.
  6. Usually gen 1s around Wyoming are pretty rusted. However, sicne I am from the PNW which is where I got my Brat, its clean compared to a few cars I see around here. It even sat in a junkyard for 15 years! I think its time for you to move to Subaruland. Its actually more of a region located in the north western portion of our beloved country:-p
  7. IIRC its a special dealer installed package that is very very uncommon. I have seen only pics of a couple other DE EA81s. One is a black '83 or '84 wagon, and now I can't remember what the other one was, crap. Basically its a package that the dealer could get from the factory but its basically some decals and some interior bits I *think*.
  8. Mick you have been one busy little man!
  9. HAHA thats all thats holding the rocker together! Sorry I couldn't resist. If you wanna see all the pics I have of my Brat, here's the link... http://rides.webshots.com/album/302432023YUcDSD Its currently undergoing major body restoration down to mediablasting, fixing the rot in the core support from the battery, shaved everything but doorhandles, rear slider, EA81 with s/r 4-speed and tons of other stuff.
  10. get a set of 4wd springs and cut those. I believe those are a bit stiffer then the 2wd so if you cut them, the ride quality will be about the same. So some old posts eh? Check out my '78 Brat back when I lived in Oregon! Before when I first got it... After and adding the EA82 steels with some nice 185/70R13 tires... The last pic is after I removed the bumpers, added on a throaty souding exhaust and before I removed the mudflaps. In this car, there was no such thing as ride quality. I removed the front springs and bumpstops from the front end so it was tucking the 13"s and in the rear, I cranked the torsion bars all the way down and cut half the rear bumpstops off. Handled like it was on rails but was a real bumpy ride. For some reason though, since it had a blown front axle and I rolled around in RWD, the rear diff would posi everytime I would light up the back end. Made it an awesome drift/burnout machine!
  11. I know on the gen 1's, there is a bolt on either side of the torsion bar tube that you remove, then pound the torsion bar out from the inside while the car is on stands, then using a jack, position the tire at the desired height (as far as 2 notches on the torsion bar, 3, etc.), pound them back in, reinstall the bolt and put it on the ground. Thats how I lowered the back of my Gen 1 Brat.
  12. I had fun blowing up a few EA82s... Besides, my EJ swap will come after I move and when I can afford it. Right now, I just gotta concentrate on getting moved here in 51 days:grin:
  13. I've seen this posted before and the car is actually STILL an EA82T. His board name is qikRXturbo and he's also over on the aussie board. Car is running 286hp or something like that. Yes it is still the EA82T. He said he dumped a ton of money into it as well..... Here's his member page... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/member.php?u=5059 Sweet I was right, chekc out the old post! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21362
  14. Andy, its a 3AT... mechanical 3 speed auto. The 4-speed auto is a 4EAT because its electrically controlled:-p
  15. it'll be the lowered Subarus making their way through a grassy field:lol: Oh wait, I'm included in that:rolleyes:
  16. well my ebrake is always down since it no longer works and my rear seats DO fold down.... I'm too old for the back seat of a car anymore:-p
  17. Thats what I said when I thought of it... mmm sex on wheels:-p
  18. Or just look in the USRM for the 5-lug conversion that I posted... And if you're lazy, here's the link for it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50400
  19. Well the guy who was going to get it decided it was too much work to bring back. So this coming week, the RX is going to get picked up by the scrapyard and hauled off where it'll meet its maker. From there, it'll go to Subaru heaven and hopefully be remade into another Subaru. Farewell black RX, your rarity will be missed by some but the large pain in my @$$ and hole in my wallet will be gone:-p
  20. I know I'll be there in my coupe! I haven't been to a WCSS since 6. Wow, that was a few years ago:rolleyes:
  21. The answer is quite easy. Once I replace the engine, no. Its stock SPFI EA82 and thats what I'm replacing it with currently. My RX when it ran, would smoke the tires off from a stoplight. This will eventually do it when I swap in an EJ20 but thats still awhile away as I'm moving to Washington here in less then 2 months.
  22. So yeah, kinda didn't happen by Saturday which sucks but oh well. Bodykit is currenly prepped for paint (going with an Obsidian Black Pearl) which I'll shoot this coming week if I have free time. I got the paint mixed for the body but I added my own custom tint to the paint which will make it stand out from the rest. I won't get pics of it until I get it all painted with the new LGT mesh rims I'm getting. Also got a set of coilovers from ebay to help level it out without lowering it the ghetto way ie cuttin the springs. For now, I'm just about done with the tranny swap and the front end swap but like I said, no more pics until I get it painted and the new rims on it. Its something for everyone to look forward to including me:grin:
  23. that means you might wanna get that TPS fixed:-p So this weekend I'll be painting my RX bodykit OBP for the coupe, mix up a gallon of paint for the coupe itself, and install my coilovers. I should have the car close to ready by the end of this month hopefully. As for a date, I'm thinking the weekend of the 14th and 15th in April. We can narrow it down to a specific day but I think that should be a significant amount of time for my to get my coupe ready with some new shoes as well.
  24. While you guys are having fun with the other Subarus, I'll be painting my RX bodykit for the coupe. Hehehe... Obsidian Black Pearl:slobber: Oh and installing my coilovers so I don't have a '70s musclecar rake anymore:-p
